I had this back in the late 80's as a kid. My dad was a electronic repair man and loved radio shack so I had many toys from there. It was pretty cool to see and hear it in action again. This was one of my favorite toys and one of the reasons I ended up as a heavy equipment operator for a good while. Thank you for the post it was a robust well made little toy
not sure if anyone gives a damn but if you are bored like me atm you can stream pretty much all of the latest movies on instaflixxer. Have been watching with my girlfriend lately =)
I hear ya :) I had one as a kid too. Strangely enough , this all mechanical grinding thing seems more hands on and inviting and fun , than modern arduino servo motor kits …
Ahhhh what memories this brings! It felt soooo good to hear this operate again! My dad had this (dont know if it was a gift or what) and gave it me when i was 3-4 although i played with it earlier than that. We didnt have the accessories that came with it (dont know why) so i just used it to play with my toys! I remember telling other kids about it and no one would believe me until they seen it, then they would want it-hahahahaha! The Arm-a-tron meant a lot to me as a kid and even though im 34 i still think of it and tell others of it, thank you for posting this!!! 🤘👽
It's a brilliant gear design, all ranges of motion, all using gears and shifting the drive energy around to the various axis of motion, all with just 1 motor.
DAMN, you have the skills! I used to have one of these and was describing to my wife how hard they were to control - especially with the 'cannisters' etc that came with it... I think I was that good when I was a kid, but I remember the frustration at knocking everything over / things not being within pickup range, etc :D Wonderful to see!
Super cool to see this working again -- I had the Super Armatron (basically the same just white instead of gray) as a kid and loved playing with it moving the included stuff -- and other stuff too.
For unknown reason this crossed my mind thinking of my grandparents who bought me one of these when I was a kid in the 80s and the name of this toy popped into my head and had to look it up and boom found this video!! Thank you for letting me see my memories come to life and now on the hunt to buy one of these 😀😀😀
Hey Chris! Great video. Your Armatron works great! Wow. You don't see them working as smooth as yours anymore. I have 5 here that I am restoring. There are small 8 and 10 tooth gears that break by forcing the arm around w/o using the controls. Love it. Thanks for sharing! Very smooth. Great technique! :)
My cousin had one of these and I begged him to let me play with it for years. He refused to let me touch it. I was a spaz when I was a kid but as I got older he finally let me try it. I still remember that day vividly
you are now certified for plutionum handling
One of my favorite toys in the mid eighties. It lasted for several years. Nice to see that box again too. Brings back memories. Thanks dad 💙
I got this for Christmas in the mid 80s. Good times !

@Asa Kellen Definitely, been using instaflixxer for years myself =)

Best Christmas ever in the 80's.. thanks to my dad for always being there and making that bread! He's 81 and still kicking like a four legged chicken!
I've been looking and looking for my radio shack Armatron all over the place. Now, I know who has it!
I just found mine all complete, and stored away nicely. I am going to get batteries and give it a go.
how was it?
@@SirYus99 It worked after I disassembled and cleaned the battery contacts up with vinegar. I am definitely going to keep it around.

46 and this was my most used toy as a kid.
Awww thats aswome i had one. So sad i dont have it anymore. Remember it was pretty loud and ahead of its time
Thanks for the memories. I used mine with my HO trains to load the flatcar I put the container on. It was a nuclear reactor train! Loads of fun.
Two of the best hobbies in the 80’s! Radio Shack and HO scale trains!

I was hard on toys when I was a kid. This thing never broke.
I remember getting mine for Christmas. Wish I still had it.
Thank you I had this toy as a child and this video was amazing to watch!

I always wanted one of these.. used to go into our local Tandy store as a kid and try and get a play on the one out on show!
i have one that i'd sell
I had one in the late 80s and miss this toy I loved it funny I thought of it today
i had one of these...memories
So much time spent with one of these!
The nostalgia is strong with this one
I had one of these when I was... 12 or thereabouts. It was more fun to take apart and put back together than anything...
Glad I was not the only one that did that. I took apart a lot of toys. But I was rebuilding lawn mowers at age 8.
Radio was awesome in the 80s. REM all the best RC toys in there
Wanted this when I was 13. Parents couldn't afford it. This is my first time seeing it in action.
Me too. Finding one now I can afford it will be hard
How much wheir they new?
@@obviouslytwo4ulike $40
Had one growing up in the 80s, but this thing ate batteries !
I always take mine to the Coffee shop and use it to read the paper.
Awesome.
Thats really cool to see again and the two scientists kids in the box photo are hilarious.
Skilled operator! Great memories. Thanks for sharing.
I loved this when I was a kid
This guy is gonna break that thing.

I still have mine :-)
I wanted one of these so bad as a kid. After watching this, I want one so bad as an adult.
So go on ebay and buy one . Just make sure it’s a working one not one for parts cause there’s a lot of broken ones
This was an awesome toy but I always wished the controls were separate from the arm. A wired remote control would have been a great improvement.
Can you modernize it like the ones in factories?
I had this one in the 87
I still have mine
Yo tenía uno 😊
I had one of these
Dam that must kill battery's so fast
At times it sounds like Robocop moving.
🤖... 😁👍
I had one
Loved mine....until I took it apart
Would love to know how yours is still running...you can’t operate it for shit.
