  • Love the ease of tortillas for dinner? This Tortilla Warmer is easy to make and use. Plus, it does a great job of keeping tortillas warm throughout dinner!
    No need to grab a plate to trace. This project is super easy when you use my Winner Designs No Slip Complete Circle Template. My Complete Circle Templates come is different sizes, and like all of my templates, have a backing that “grabs” your fabric as you cut. This makes layers consistent which makes sewing faster and better!
    In this video, I show 3 different styles of tortilla warmers. I’ll also show different sizes so you can see which works for the size of tortillas you like. Plus, I’ll show other foods that would work in this warmer, too.
    I love making gifts that I know others will actually use - so this is a great gift! Make for yourself and others then make a bunch to sell! If you purchase one of my larger Circle Templates, you’ll receive my “Using your Tortilla Warmer” Handout. This is great to give with the finished Tortilla Warmer!
    There are several templates that work well for making Tortilla Warmers:
    1. The Complete Circle Template comes in lots of sizes. Depending on the size of your tortillas, choose the 10”, 11”, 12” or 13” for making the Tortilla Warmer.
    2. The 3 Rulers for Ruler Work make straight stitch quilting so much easier! These are really useful for the Tortilla Warmer and Potato Bag. They are: 1” x 10”, 1.25” x 10” and 1.5” x 10”.
    3. Want to add a little strap? Use my 2” x 5” Strap Template; it’s the perfect size for a strap/handle. The tortilla warmer will be hot & full of steam so the handle makes it easier & safer to remove from the microwave.
    All of my Winner Designs Templates have my No Slip Backing which makes cutting accurate, fast, and easy. That means your projects will be easier to sew and produce better results!
    You can find these templates on my website in a few different bundles. Pick the one that’s best for you. Tortilla Warmer Complete Circle Templates - Winner Designs (winner-designs.myshopify.com)

    I just filmed a Popcorn Bag and a Potato Bag. Both make great gifts so check out those videos, too!

      Oh yeah; love that you are loving circles, too! BTW - I got your package shipped out at the end of the day yesterday so your circles are on the way. Years ago, I did a class called "Going Round in Circles" & had a bunch of projects. Didn't show your great idea for separators so appreciate you sharing it! Have fun with your new templates. You'll have to let me know your favorite project that you make!

    Like your tutorial and will use but a resounding No to the use of plastic. Thanks

      The plastic was a surprise to me; too! But it was recommended from someone that sells bunches. I'm sure her customers would complain if there was ever an issue! But you don't have to use it. I don't just because it's faster without!

    Is the Plastic BPA free? Even though it doesn’t touch the food, it still can leach through.

    • @Lindavideos
      @Lindavideos  7 месяцев назад

      Great question! The addition of plastic was new to me so I have not had any real experience with it. My concern 1st was that it was microwave safe & it seems it is. But after that, I really couldn't tell you. Maybe someone seeing this can give us a definitive answer.
      As cool as it is, I don't add plastic to mine when making these but only because it takes more time and slips when you're sewing. I'm a get 'er done-er & this isn't the quickest!

    Is it necessary to use cotton thread? Thanks.

    • @Lindavideos
      @Lindavideos  4 месяца назад

      Great question - if you're going to place the tortillas in the warmer in the microwave, then yes, absolutely. If you're just placing the tortillas in AFTER heating them in a skillet or some other way, then no. Hope that helps!

    What about washing this with the plastic?

    • @Lindavideos
      @Lindavideos  2 месяца назад +1

      Since you're not putting anything sticky inside, you don't really need to wash it very often. I just shake mine out & air dry it. You could add a hanging strap to make it easier. But if & when you want to wash it, you can wash it by hand & hang dry. Or if you use your washer, wash it like you would your delicates & use the "Delicate" setting on your washing machine or use cold water with a low spin cycle. I would hang dry it rather than put it in the dryer. Hope this helps!

    What is the binding?

    • @Lindavideos
      @Lindavideos  Год назад +1

      Thanks for asking! Since it's going in the microwave, you'll have to cut your own binding as pre-packaged is not 100% cotton. Depending on how comfortable you are with bindings, you can do anywhere from 2" to 2 1/4" or 2 1/2". Just make sure there's enough to be able to catch all of the layers.

    What was used for the insulation to keep the tortillas warm?

    • @Lindavideos
      @Lindavideos  Год назад

      If you're going to put this in the microwave then use Wrap N Zap winner-designs.myshopify.com/search?q=wrap+n+zap. You can also add a 2 gallon Zip Loc bag (or the bag that my templates come in) inside.
      If you're going to warm them up on the stove & then put them on the table & it will never go into the microwave, then use Insul-Fleece winner-designs.myshopify.com/products/pellon-975-insul-fleece-36-x-45?_pos=1&_sid=2b80369d7&_ss=r

    What kind of plastic? I have never used plastic in my tortilla warmers.

    • @Lindavideos
      @Lindavideos  Год назад

      Me neither, Jane! This was a suggestion from Brenda Mays. She used Zip Loc 2 gallon bags. I used my plastic bags that I ship most templates in. They are fairly thick but need to be as large as your project.

    • @ScarletCrazed

      Since the plastic doesn't touch the food and is only heated in short increments, couldn't any thick flexible plastic sheeting be used?@@Lindavideos
