Great advice for newcomers to bargain ski shopping... 2 years ago, I found a "diamond in the rough" at a Utah swap. A year old gently used Stockli Laser with matching Strive 13 bindings (original mount) for $349. But I was one of the first 20 people in the door on the first day. I saw the ski from across the room and went right for it. I skied it a few times during the early season and then sold it for $800 on KSL. Not a very useful ski in Utah.
Demo bindings are great but you need the DIN set so they release correctly. You should also test older skis to make sure they are releasing at the proper pressure. Any good shop can do this for you
Of course! For those digging into this, you can use the standard din chart/calculator (www.dincalculator.com) Rule of thumb, start lower and if you step out- increase slowly until you don’t step out anymore. Of course if you ever have ANY doubt go to your local shop. Bindings that don’t release properly can cause some major injuries!
None of the swaps in southeast Michigan have a fee to list an item at their swaps. They charge a 15% to 25% consignor fee for items that sell. Not all swaps allow credit cards but those that charge a 3% fee. Old or obsolete skis can be donated to MISkiBum; they make Adirondack chairs from them and donate a percentage of the sales price to the buyer's designated ski patrol.
Ski swaps are where it's at. It's great that you've posted swap dates on your site!

When is first Rope Tow Report “live”? Will it be the “first to open” bracket show?
We are changing up formats this season to meet the changes in social media, but the first RTR is planned for tomorrow :)
