- Morris Day was the flashy lead singer for the Minneapolis Funk band, The Time during its successful run during the early and mid 1980s. He went solo in 1985 and released three albums: Color Of Success in 1985, Daydreaming in 1988, and Guaranteed in 1992. His hits included 'Color Of Success', 'Oak Tree', 'Are You Ready', 'Daydreaming', 'Fishnet', and 'Circle Of Love'

I shared the time with my 2 daughters and I told them they are hidden gems that should be respected and loved ,as a white male who grew up in the 60'which I consider the best time for music, it gave me great please that they raved about this group as they went and bought their music jungle love is one of my all time favorites, if you can't get up and dance to that song something is wrong!

Props to Prince BUT this Prince-less song as well as the Pandemonium album (which he only contributed 4 songs for) shows they can make great music and be successful without much input from him, if any. As they've said, he wasn't going to let that happen though and that's why he stunted their live exposure or wouldn't allow them to use The Time name on their own. This is why The Original 7even name was used.

It was rumored that Prince threw Morris Day and the Time off of the Purple Rain tour. They were the opening act and he felt he was being upstaged. Audiences would go wild and not let them off the stage!
True. But, it started with the 1999 tour. This were the Time were up staging Prince nightly. So, he would cancel them in major cities.
He referred to The Time as "Chicken Grease" :) LOL it was listed on the Purple Rain album.
