When I received the board I had some troubles making it work properly, so I thought it was right to inform everyone about some things: If you connect the device to the USB on your PC and you don't see the green light, you need to flip a small switch next to the battery cables which lets you choose between getting power from the Mini-USB or battery pack. If you connect the board on the PC with USB, load the files, but can't hear anything when you press the button, is because this thing is NOT supposed to work when the device is recognizable by the PC. To make it work, simply pull the USB out slowly from your PC enough to unplug the device but not enough to turn off the green LED and your sound should play automatically. You can also regulate the volume by turning a small potentiometer on the board (usually is set to the max). I had to figure all this out on my own since this thing doesnt come with a manual, so I hope this might help someone!

take a look at the product page on amazon again. Itll show the volume adjuster on the sound board. Turn it the direction of the symbol that looks like a stick figure man. That will raise the volume. I think like a small screw driver will work.

@@Haggisbishop no, still thinking I’m not a professional electrician but I recently read about an electronic part called “rectifier diode” and a “timer delay”. I’m thinking to connect the mp3 module to the car speaker line using a time delay and a rectifier, meanwhile playing the sound I want. The module will also use a diode rectifier and connect to the same radio speaker line. When the timer ends. The radio line will close and the module line will open. The purpose of the diode is to ensure the flow of electricity to one direction meaning that no voltage output from the module comes into the radio. Theoretically, this can work. Let me know if you have any notes on my theory 😅

Could you hardwire it and if so how? Let's say you want the melody to play through your speakers on first start up then switch back to your in car display/stereo, or even adding a custom door chime that is a greeting.
hmmm I am not sure...the only thing i can think of is wiring the speaker wires from the circuit board to like... a 3.5mm cable? But I am not sure if it would work as intended.
Helpppp. I built one of these with the exact parts and followed it perfectly. For some reason it will randomly go off and play the sound while driving any ideas how to fix this?
the module has a limit which i think is like 2W of power so, although you can use a more capable speaker, it might not be worth it. I used a speaker I bought from the dollar store but honestly its only marginally better than the one that comes with the module. Putting the speaker in a proper box for better accoustics had more effect.
I was going to go adafruit board but then thought about a much easier way to do it. Then I noticed they sold these circuit boards for like custom greeting cards etc and I figured I could make them serve my purpose too!
yes, you could wire it to like the 12v accessory on the back of the cigarette lighter. You will need a 12V to 5V step down (link should be in the description) as the board runs 5V.
the project box I got from gutting a $1 speaker from the (Japanese) dollar store Daiso. You might be able to find similar speaker boxes at other dollar stores. Alternatively you could get a small project box from amazon to hold it all in. amzn.to/35JeCfp
unfortunately not at the moment. the project is limited to the readily available sound boards i could find. If I ever figure it out, ill make an updated video!
Hey! I ordered the module although it doesn’t play anything when I plug it in anywhere. The light on the motherboard is on which means its getting current but it isn’t playing the audio. It only worked when I plugged it into my wall charger but only that specific one. Any other plugin it doesn’t want to play the audio but it is getting current. Not even working when it is in the car. I did make sure I got a high quality micro usb. I am assuming my problem is the voltage but not too sure what else it could be. Wanted to get your opinion on this situation! Appreciate the help in advanced! 🙏🏼
Yeah the module can be finicky. Plugged into my computer no sound. Plugged into my car w/bad cable. no sound. Plugged into a portable battery, sound. If the cable is high quality. You can try wiggling the micro usb connection a bit. Another user had some luck with that. Also having a good cigarette lighter usb adapter too. I think the module is VERY picky with its power source. As for me, getting a good cable and wiggling the connection a bit on the board side did it for me. Works every time now. Worst case scenario you could always use the 2 power wires (that are unused if powering via usb). Just be aware that you will need a voltage regulator as 12V to the module with fry it. Hope it works out! Sometimes a little wiggling around is all thats needed.
@@MMAYHEMtm no worries. hit up your local dollarstore or hardware store or even your house! You can get creative with it and worst case, theres always the project boxes I linked in the description. Hope you have fun with this!
you can use any speaker as long as its 8 ohms. I got mine from the dollarstore (daiso). The board also has a max output of like 2W so any speaker higher than that is unnecessary. Also the stock speaker is actually pretty decent for inside the cabin and there is a volume adjuster on the board you can crank it up a bit.
@@HazardGarage thank you. I have a daiso near me to but I couldn’t find one unfortunately and that project box is giant. And recommendations for housing the stock speaker?
it will. just note that the sound board does have a limited bit of power so youll get no benefit from going to like a 5w or something speaker. However, a 2W I believe should be fine.
@hazardgarage i can't find the right type of melody box, can you please send me a direct link to ome that works as the one i bought won't auto play when under power from USB
basically we shorted the button wires together to simulate a button press. Then connect power via cigarette adapter to the micro usb port. When you turn on your car (or accessory), board powers up, and plays the sound file.
the way its set up in the video, it only plays the track once. It'll play again anytime the power to the car turns off and back on. You can only have one track on the sound board at a time so if you want a different sound you'll have to remove the current one and put in another on your computer.
if i did this on a motorbike, would there be a way to wire it directly into the bikes power? i was thinking to attatch it to the front low beam lights since they always turn on when the ignition is on
Did you connect the power to the cigarette light port itself or just connect to a plug in via USB? I want to do this project but would like there to be less wires visible
I spliced the button wires together and when I plug in the micro usb it turns green but doesn’t play sound. I turned the volume buttons up and down when I connect but it doesn’t seem to be the problem.
@@HazardGarage I tried the slight plug in the micro usb to the computer method but that didn’t play sounds just light. I tried a portable usb battery and that didn’t seem to work either. Should I get a regulator and connect it to the 5v power source?
@@ST4Rl30Y is your file .WAV? 🤔 Also try connecting it to a portable battery pack if possible. I know connecting it to the computer will not play the audio because it thinks you want to put files on it.
I basically gutted a cheap dollar store speaker. You can theoretically find any container and modified it slightly to to fit. I also included links in the description to project boxes commonly used with small electronic projects.
I am not sure if this sound board is capable of that. Also you would have to wait for your radio to boot up before any sound would come out the car speakers.
@@HazardGarage could you just splice it into the radio systems power supply? and then just add silence to the beginning of your audio file to add a delay for however long you need it
@@alice_arwen if you are hardwiring the power supply you will need a 5V step down adapter. The board runs at 5V while your car runs 12V. as for splicing into your speaker system I am not sure if that will cause any complications. I thought about maybe wiring the board output to an aux cable but havent tested that. Also your radio would need to power on and be on AUX mode everytime you start the car to make it work smoothly. I think the best and easiest way at the moment is just to have the board have its own speaker separate from the car.
Yes I offer all the files I had made by a voice actress in Japanese on my ko-fi page for a small donation to support the channel! ko-fi.com/s/8723a46daa
the board specs say max output is 1W so anything above that might be a bit overkill. Honestly the speaker it comes with is pretty good for what it needs to do.
If your car is wired up that way, you'll need to find/tap into a wire that only turns on when your car is in accessory power mode. You'll need a voltage regulator though to go from 12V to i think 5V.
I tired this on my 2020 Nissan Altima but as soon as I plug it into the cigarette charger it starts to play. It’s one of those push to start cars. Is there a way around this issue?
the way i set it up in the video is when the unit gets power it plays once and then stops. So if your car is on and you unplug/plug in the cigarette lighter, you will power the unit and it will play each time. If you leave it plugged in to the cig lighter, then everytime you turn the car on (giving power to cig lighter) it should play once, then stop.
I spliced the two wires for the button together (simulating a constant button push). The power wires I just taped them up to prevent any shorting. Power was provided via USB cable.
The ending 😂

take a look at the product page on amazon again. Itll show the volume adjuster on the sound board. Turn it the direction of the symbol that looks like a stick figure man. That will raise the volume. I think like a small screw driver will work.
Hey, just wanted to ask, at 1:56, i know its some kind of JR train melody, but i cant exactly tell which one it is, do you know it?
It's not a specific JR melody that i can remember. I think i just looked for "japanese melody tone" lol
A video of a car going "Driver-san!" is what sent me here 😂
lol oh thats a good one!
im sooo doing this to a vw golf
haha yes!
Lmao the launch
apparently....I was not ready. 😅
Perfect ending ahhaha
😁😁😁
Sick
😄😄😄
EDIT: I FOUND A FIX!!
( Turns out the one beside the micro usb port which has labels of A B C has a micro resistor on the B part, I just removed it and it didn't loop this time)
I deleted the song that comes with the soundboard and put mine but the problem i'm having is that it keeps on repeating and repeating. Anyone who experienced the same? I tried changing the audio and checking the splice I did with the button and reformat the soundboard but it is still on a loop lol.
glad you were able to get it fixed! Thanks for sharing the issue!
thanks man.. it worked.
Where did you get your recording!? It reminds me of gundam launches xD do you perchance have a mp3 file of it still?
haha they were custom made. You can check the link in the description for a donation link. It helps support the channel and also you get all the sounds I had custom made.
Something I've noticed while trying this is that it doesn't like small files, I tired using a 200kb file and it just didn't work but then switched to a bigger on and it worked fine
interesting! I think the board requires WAV files so usually those are super big anyway so I havent noticed that issue. But thanks for sharing your experience!
Hi
Thanks for the video
How can I connect it to car’s speakers?
This I am not sure. Sorry!
ever find out? I would like to do this.
@@Haggisbishop no, still thinking
I’m not a professional electrician but I recently read about an electronic part called “rectifier diode” and a “timer delay”.
Nice video ! I made one too with a module found on aliexpress but do you know where can I find sound effects like yours ? I've looked on Fiverr but it's a bit expensive for only one effect.
Thanks!
I paid about $10 (before fees) for a handful of quotes from a voice actor on fiverr. If you dont have japanese phrases ready, she can translate anything you want for an extra fee:

RUclips Mech Animes Clips. use a online RUclips to Mp3 converter to download the Audio. I use ytmp3 site. then you may need a audio editor to clip it to the right size for just the part you need. I'm a music producer so I use Edison you can try Audacity or WavePad
Are you rocking the isr exhaust by any chance? I'm thinking of buying one for my nb and i really like the way your car sounds!!! ;)
Thanks!! Its actually a Manzo/eBay exhaust and I welded on an extra resonator.
Episode with more sound clips here: ruclips.net/video/rH783QoNElI/видео.html
Also you can see my compilation of exhaust sounds here:ruclips.net/video/ZJieUp5ecHU/видео.html
Immediately looked this up when I saw that ‘okaaaaaaaaaaay lezzz gau’ vid
whats going on now? 😅
Hey qq which model of the module did you get? There is a light sensor and button press one?
I used the button version!
Im wondering if i can by pass it directly to the cars built in speakers? Has anyone done it? And is there any way to customise the voice?
not sure if itill work because the sound board itself only has so much power.
what kind of other speakers can i use with this? using the car speakers would be the best!
the module has a limit which i think is like 2W of power so, although you can use a more capable speaker, it might not be worth it. I used a speaker I bought from the dollar store but honestly its only marginally better than the one that comes with the module. Putting the speaker in a proper box for better accoustics had more effect.
What power rating (9v,12v) does this originally take if using the power connector instead of usb?
Power connector is 5V
The stall... 😭😭😭😂😂😂
oopsie! 😁
Where can I get the better speaker? I don't have a Japanese dollar store.
Hello was wondering where you got that blue project box?
I bought like a cheap $1 speaker from the dollarstore and just gutted it.
But something like this will work too
amzn.to/3ucTmcd
How did you figure out that this was the circuit board needed? I've been thinking of using an Arduino until I found this video.
I was going to go adafruit board but then thought about a much easier way to do it. Then I noticed they sold these circuit boards for like custom greeting cards etc and I figured I could make them serve my purpose too!
I mean if you use an arduino you potentially could code a shuffle/random select option for the start up
Great video man, but how did you put audio files in there?
plugs into the computer and drag and drop! *note they need to be .WAV files
Is there a way where you can wire it up to your ignition so when you start it up would be a cleaner look and hidden
yes, you could wire it to like the 12v accessory on the back of the cigarette lighter. You will need a 12V to 5V step down (link should be in the description) as the board runs 5V.
@@HazardGarage awesome, thanks!
did you get the optional speaker from daiso?
yup! Daiso.
I want to have a yellow car, stick a Pikachu face to the bonnet and install your speaker with the melody "pika pika" 🤣
you should totally do it! lol
Where can I find the module boxes
the project box I got from gutting a $1 speaker from the (Japanese) dollar store Daiso. You might be able to find similar speaker boxes at other dollar stores. Alternatively you could get a small project box from amazon to hold it all in. amzn.to/35JeCfp
Is there a way to allow it to play other sound files with each new startup? Maybe even select the sound file you want to use?
unfortunately not at the moment. the project is limited to the readily available sound boards i could find. If I ever figure it out, ill make an updated video!
@@HazardGarage Thank you I appreciate the reply!
Does any happen to know any other boards that allow hold more than one file and able to cycle through them?
Hello! Sorry but I didn’t understand how do insert the sounds. Pen drive is needed or plug the board to pc and save de audio into the board?
plug the board into your computer via usb and then drag the WAV sound file onto the board. Only one sound file should be on the board.
Hey there just wondering what box you used to house the guts because the link u have in the description takes you to a fully enclosed box
The boxes I used were 2 $1 speakers I got from the dollar store. The Japanese dollar store to be precise.
@@HazardGarage ohh ok thanks , I was searching Amazon to with no luck lol
@@MMAYHEMtm no worries. hit up your local dollarstore or hardware store or even your house! You can get creative with it and worst case, theres always the project boxes I linked in the description. Hope you have fun with this!
Hello, could you recommend a upgraded speaker, having trouble finding one?
you can use any speaker as long as its 8 ohms.
Do you think it will work with a 2W speaker?
it will. just note that the sound board does have a limited bit of power so youll get no benefit from going to like a 5w or something speaker. However, a 2W I believe should be fine.
@hazardgarage i can't find the right type of melody box, can you please send me a direct link to ome that works as the one i bought won't auto play when under power from USB
I linked the one I used in the description! (button type)
How does it play when the car key is turned ? Like a switch or something and make it repeat that everytime the key is turned .
basically we shorted the button wires together to simulate a button press. Then connect power via cigarette adapter to the micro usb port. When you turn on your car (or accessory), board powers up, and plays the sound file.
i have ISD1820 sound module, that's the one available easily to me (and cheap). how do i record the sounds using it?
Sorry I am not familiar with that sound board. Try giving the seller/manufacturer an email!
Could I put something like this on a Shelby Mustang?
It will work on any car as it just uses USB to power it!
I wondering, is it still looping the same track or auto stop?
the way its set up in the video, it only plays the track once. It'll play again anytime the power to the car turns off and back on.
You can only have one track on the sound board at a time so if you want a different sound you'll have to remove the current one and put in another on your computer.
if i did this on a motorbike, would there be a way to wire it directly into the bikes power? i was thinking to attatch it to the front low beam lights since they always turn on when the ignition is on
you could but remember to use a 12V to 5V adapter. The sound board only takes 5Vs and anymore will fry it.
Did you connect the power to the cigarette light port itself or just connect to a plug in via USB? I want to do this project but would like there to be less wires visible
I used a cigarette to USB adapter (like the ones you'd use to charge your phone) to power the unit.
@@HazardGarage would it be capable to just hard wire it to the cigarette lighter port that's always on vs just plugging the USB cable?
@@zachariahfrankenstein8496 yes but you will need a 12V to 5V step down regulator to do that. I should have a link in the description.
I spliced the button wires together and when I plug in the micro usb it turns green but doesn’t play sound. I turned the volume buttons up and down when I connect but it doesn’t seem to be the problem.
is this plugged into the computer or another power source?
@@HazardGarage I tried the slight plug in the micro usb to the computer method but that didn’t play sounds just light. I tried a portable usb battery and that didn’t seem to work either. Should I get a regulator and connect it to the 5v power source?
@@ST4Rl30Y is your file .WAV? 🤔
Also try connecting it to a portable battery pack if possible. I know connecting it to the computer will not play the audio because it thinks you want to put files on it.
@@HazardGaragethe file type was the problem thanks so much!
@@ST4Rl30Y glad it worked out!
Hi currently looking into the project! Just want to ask if the audio only plays once on car startup? Or will it loop?
only plays once during start up!
Where did you get that chime sound at the beginning?
I believe its from a recording of a japanese train announcement
Really Awesome Video! How did you get it to auto-play when turned on? Or did you need to press the button?
Thanks! I wired the button wires together to simulate a continuous button push. So when the power is provided it auto plays.
You have vision problems or hearing issues?
I couldn’t find a box with the holes in it like you had
I basically gutted a cheap dollar store speaker. You can theoretically find any container and modified it slightly to to fit. I also included links in the description to project boxes commonly used with small electronic projects.
Could you hook this up to your stereo or directly to your speakers so that it plays from the car speakers instead of the tiny one it comes with?
I think the best and easiest way at the moment is just to have the board have its own speaker separate from the car.
mine only play half of the file that I input and is less than 200kb, Also, I used the high power cable too. Any idea?
is the file in a WAV format? Did you test with any other file just to be sure?
amazing! can I have the audio filet that you have ?!
Yes I offer all the files I had made by a voice actress in Japanese on my ko-fi page for a small donation to support the channel! ko-fi.com/s/8723a46daa
How much watt is ok for upgrading the speaker? Is 2 or 3 watt fine?
the board specs say max output is 1W so anything above that might be a bit overkill. Honestly the speaker it comes with is pretty good for what it needs to do.
Where can i get the audios?? Nice vid mate
You can get the audio in the video and more on my donation page. Supports the channel too!
ko-fi.com/s/8723a46daa
What if your car constantly supplies power to the cigarette lighter. Also, I’m in tears when you stalled the car 😭
Did you splice the red power cables or just tape them together? Also great video!
I spliced the two wires for the button together (simulating a constant button push).
The power wires I just taped them up to prevent any shorting. Power was provided via USB cable.
@@HazardGarage Thanks, I followed your tutorial and it worked great! :)
