    Hello👋🏼 this is just fantastic. you are well done and thank you for such instructive videos.
    Can you help what nails you use, what size and how deep should they be and how many cm above the board? the space between the nails should be enough for the thread to shift only or should there be some certain margin to keep the image?

    • @GenieCrafts
      @GenieCrafts  Год назад

      Thanks a lot. All of your questions are covered in subsequent videos that I posted after this video. You can refer to the string art playlist on my channel. But still here are my replies in order
      1. I use nails from 7 mm wall cable clip
      2. The nails should penetrate at least 1 cm to be sure that they will not pop out due to string tension. They should be at least 8-10 mm above board in case you are using a dense design. If u r using thicker threads then it should be at least 1.5 - 2 cm above board. So it’s actually a factor if ur materials and requirement
      3. Space should be enough to shift the threads.

      Smaller the canvas, thinner the thread you need. But after a point you cannot use thinner thread as it will break under tension. The thinnest thread you can use is regular polyester sewing thread. Also, I would not suggest to go below 18 inch diameter

      1 mm thread is too thick for portrait. What i need is 0.25 mm to 0.5 mm thickness thread for portrait.
      With 1 mm thickness you will need very big board to compensate for the dense space that will be created by thick thread.
      Also threads are measured in weight. For portrait weight 80 is ideal thickness. Higher the weight, thinner the thread.

    What kind of thread should I use to make string portrait art, pls?

    • @GenieCrafts
      @GenieCrafts  Год назад +1

      You need a strong thread. Normally polyester threads or nylon threads are good. But nylon threads are very slippery to handle and if accidentally you lose grip of the thread, a lot of previous loops will unravel. With polyester less work in undone. Also the thread weight should be 80. Any lower the thread will be too thick and the entire portrait will become very black, even on areas where very less threads are passing. Any higher there are chances of thread breaking. But if you are able to acquire a high tensile thread of higher weight, it will be even better

    • @GenieCrafts
      @GenieCrafts  7 месяцев назад

      I normally don't measure the distances. I generate the nail placement diagram using the different techniques I have covered on my channel. Goal is to ensure that after you place the nails the distance between the heads of two adjacent nails is enough for you to loop the thread easily without any obstruction. In general the distances between the nails vary between 0.5 mm to 0.8 mm. But again I do not place nails by marking distances between the nails in centimeters
      Normalde mesafeleri ölçmüyorum. Kanalımda anlattığım farklı teknikleri kullanarak tırnak yerleştirme şemasını oluşturuyorum. Amaç, çivileri yerleştirdikten sonra, iki bitişik çivinin başları arasındaki mesafenin, herhangi bir engel olmadan ipliği kolayca ilmeklemeniz için yeterli olmasını sağlamaktır. Genel olarak çiviler arasındaki mesafeler 0,5 mm ile 0,8 mm arasında değişmektedir. Ama yine çivilerin arasındaki mesafeleri santimetre cinsinden işaretleyerek çivi yerleştirmiyorum
