    Highlights as USA's Terrence Jennings wins Bronze in the Men's Taekwondo -68kg during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
    Taekwondo is a traditional Korean martial art, which means "the way of kicking and punching". In taekwondo, hands and feet can be used to overcome an opponent, but the trademark of the sport is its combination of kick movements. Taekwondo is one of the two Asian martial arts included on the Olympic programme. Taekwondo made its debut as a demonstration Olympic sport at the 1988 Seoul Games, and became an official medal sport at the 2000 Sydney Games.

    Those asking about why the score didn't go in for the brazilian when he hit the body hit while getting hit by the turning head kick, was because body kicks are registered by the electric touch pad scoring system. Thus, it is not manually monitored by clickers like the old days. Rather, the kick is registered by how well the foot touched the chest gear.
    Many controversies have gone through the legitimacy of the gear, but it has been a while since it has been implemented and is now pretty legitimate and a well integrated part of the WTF sparring scoring system.
    This is also another reason why many competitors would rather go for the head, since the score usually doesn't go in for body shots.

    I dont get it. In the first round kick the Brazilian still managed to kick Jennings before he landed teh hook kick, Doesnt the brazilian get a point for that?

    • @LordStarlog
      @LordStarlog 8 лет назад +4

      No. Not because TJ landed the kick, mostly because the kick by Silva was not accurate/hard enough. TJ spinning might have moved the Daedo chest gear so he could not hit the censors.

    Why the warning penalty on Silva in the 1st but not Jennings (I’m guessing it was for avoid by the fight but why no penalty for both

    • @dwaynegreen1786

      They were both slow beginners, but Jennings threw a couple of kicks which put him as the aggressor and staved off a warning from the ref.

      I can see the confusion, but in context he could be praising the US as #1 in many ways. Kind of asinine to think he was referring about a bronze medal as "number one."
      In my opinion, I think people are just pooping all over an accomplishment of earning a medal in the Olympic games just to be mean.

      Well... TJ had to fight Tazgul, the 1 seed first, and still did really well. IMO Jennings could have made silver if it wasn't for the fact that he was a newcomer into the Olympics and had a better seed. (Tj basically had last seed.)

      That's the nature of Taekwondo it is a predominant kicking system with a few hand techniques

    • @tuszekpampuszek
      @tuszekpampuszek Год назад

      in order for the point to count, the impact has to be very strong, can be difficult with punches. also arms are naturally shorter than legs, so its harder to reach the opponent’s chest gear
