Started work after graduation that month. Was fortunate enough to take RMLs on 98 to work.

Did you have a scratch list to work you way through the RML allocation?.....lol

...think some of the Route Masters appeal is the curves of its design ...all those square looking buses are just unsightly

I like the modern shape started by the DMS.

Good to see some RMLs had splitties as well as dresser rings on the wheels.
(Nearly?) All the MCWs that originally had them lost theirs.
This was a very interesting time to be in London in hindsight.

Open topper is a stretched RML. 4:04

They never stretched the RMLs, they extended some of the RM's with a full width bay section from a donor RM. The remains of the RM was then scrapped..... The extended bus was then known an an ERM, and kept its original fleet number....

@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus that makes more sense. Why would you bother to stretch an RML half a bay?
An CVI bodied Swift 505 like London's SMS chassis, was stretched here in 1980. I think it ended up as long as an MBS!

One of my favourite channels on here, always great footage. Do you by any chance have any footage of the B20 DMSs after some were converted to Iveco engines? They were converted in the late 80s early 90s and ran for the likes of Sutton Bus.

Thank you. Sadly no, i only caught very few DMS's on video and none in their later LT life....
