I was lucky to see almost 300 nwa/jcp shows from 82 thru 89 live in person and many wcw wwe and tna shows later on but one of the greatest most heelish thing i ever seen live was a jcp spot show at my high school . It was buddy when he was managed by JJ dillon vs ron bass . Our gym had double doors they would prop open that the wrestlers came through from the locker room out across the middle of the basketball court to the ring . This is back when the only wrestlers that had music was the rock n roll express the midnight express , jim garvin and jimmy valiant. So no music for this intro just crowd noise . . . So were waiting on the next match and buddy comes walking through the doors.. he gets about 3 steps out and the whole crowd of 2500 just laid in to him BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Buddy stopped dead and even though you couldnt hesr him we could read lips. . . He said " well fuck yall too" and turned around and went right back to the locker room. . Just the look he had and the way he did it was gold . . They went on with whoever was in the next match and when it was over buddy come tumbling through the doors again with bass putting the boots to him and they had the match. Good stuff

Buddy seemed like such a legit good guy in all the interviews I've seen him in. It's a shame that he's not around anymore.

From everything I've heard Buddy was an ass until about 1995 when he tried breaking into the Fed and was simultaneously being pushed by Jim Cornette in Smoky Mountain as Heavyweight Champion. I believe it's been told he cleaned up his entire life around that time. Severely underrated.

He’s talking about how improved Scott Steiner is… so probably late 90s here? Such a shame. He finally got past the drugs and a car accident injury takes him out.

it's crazy how he took such a simplistic move but put his own twist on it....and all it took was protecting it as a finish to make it legit! Great call!

Excellent interview Buddy seems soo cool and sounds like a really nice guy, too bad he never quite got to that top level because of his self admitted drug issues and being stuck when " he had a little momey in the bank".
Shame he got taken from us at only 53

I love buddy, but he surely cannot believe that story. That would’ve been the end of 1985 when the Horsemen had been created there’s no way they would’ve done that title change. Plus, they would have given the belt to Magnum or Dusty.

He had a run in WCW from 1990-91. WCW had some interest in Buddy in 1997. He wrestled Goldberg in one of his first matches. This was before Goldberg's debut on TV. He wasn't the same after tearing his quadriceps.
