John Weldon "J. J." Cale (December 5, 1938 - July 26, 2013) was an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Though he deliberately avoided the limelight his influence as a musical artist has been widely acknowledged by figures such as Neil Young and Eric Clapton.

@@robertm2000 Check out Christine's indie releases FIREWORKS, RECKONING and more recently TURN TO ME. Just avoid the LIVE album with her band THE CODE from a winery. Sounds like a contractual obligation that never shoulda been released due to sound quality. I remain confused as to why more young bands and artists haven't recorded her material. Bonnie Raitt, especially, has issued some albums with weak material and I can think of a dozen songs Christine has written and cut with The Code and with Cale under various names that coulda connected. Jazz singers especially should check out her songwriting on these albums for fresh sounding material that has that intimate quality associated with true artists like Cale...

JJ Cale made beautiful music like very few others, if he had really wanted he would've been huge but this, Artist never looked for that he, was content playing the beautiful music he wrote n every song he ever wrote was above standard of a top hit! John Weldon Cale was born in Oklahoma City, and grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He later styled himself "JJ" to avoid any confusion with John Cale of the Velvet Underground.
Legendary guitarist JJ Cale is best known for pioneering the Tulsa Sound and writing two songs ("After Midnight" and "Cocaine") that Eric Clapton turned into huge hits.

+Rick Snyder You know they were enjoying themselves! J.J.Cale was a laid back kinda guy.
He was scheduled to appear on "American Band Stand "when he arrived he was told that the performance was a Lip Sync ,(No Mistakes) performance.. J.J. told them that he had his band and their instruments and they wouldn't make any mistakes.. They wouldn't allow J.J. to play..He told them that he was going home..to hell with National Television Exposure.. His song would have done better, in the charts, and he would have gotten the exposure but he wouldn't have anything to do with Lip Sync..
