This and Definitely Maybe are excellent albums and well worth checking out for those had not heard them. Well remember seeing them live in ‘95 in a smaller venue, they blew me away one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a few!
Hi Larry I got the same feeling you had in the mid nineties about Oasis. But some 7 years ago, I went to Liverpool because I'm a big Beatles fan. Of course, I went to the Cavern, and every night when the live band had a break, they played Don't Look Back In Anger and Wonderwall on the sound system ... every night. When I got home, I bought the album Morning Glory and .... like you said: A wall of sound. And now I have all their albums. You see what a few nights in a Beatles club, The Cavern, can do to a man.😂😂 Take care.
Thank you for reviewing this Larry! I will echo a lot of the sentiment and comments in this section. This was my favorite album growing up in the 90s. This album and Definitely Maybe are perfect albums. If you are able to stream the deluxe versions with all of the bsides from the singles, you will be surprised how they rate in terms of quality. Being big fans of The Beatles and The Jam, Noel Gallagher always knew how important it was to have good bsides to his singles and in nearly every instance , there were always 3 high quality b sides on every single. There are some 30 songs that didn’t make it on to the first 2 albums but they are all for the most part uniformly excellent. There is also the stand alone single ‘Whatever’ which ranks among my favorite singles which was released In between their first 2 albums If you are unable to track down the deluxe versions, the bsides album, The Masterplan culls together some of their best bsides from their 3 albums but not all of them, but it’s still a great sampler. Be Here Now is excellent too, just maybe a few minutes longer than it needs to be but the songs are still really good. From 2000 onwards, it’s a bit of a mixed bag but there is still plenty worth checking out.
Nice one Larry, I can remember that just about every track on this album was on heavy rotation on the Radio here in the UK. The only album I can recall ever having that happen, it was like they'd put out their new album and it was an instant greatest hits record. A+ all the way...
Excellent review Larry!. I'm pleased that you enjoyed this awesome album. Champagne Supernova is my favourite from the album, what a beautiful song that is! ❤👍xxx.
That was really good Larry. I’m a bit like you in as much as I don’t really like them, but this was/is a very accomplished album and one of, if not their best, album of their discography. You can only rate what you hear and if it is good, then you should be able to say so like you did. Keep going my friend. All the best. Dave✅✅
This is a classic album by the brothers Gallagher. Don't Look Back In Anger & Champagne Supernova are my favorite tracks & Cast No Shadow ( written about Richard Ashcroft of The Verve ) is excellent. 🎶 Where Were You While We Were Getting High 🎶 Soon to be Prime Minister Tony Blair was a fan.
some might say is easily the best theres a lot of good songs on this album but gets pretty formulaic on the whole, don’t look back in anger is pure magic though
Hi Larry great video. For What's the story, I skipped school with my friend and went to buy the album the day it came out,.I can't believe that was nearly 30 years ago!!!. To me, Oasis were a good mood band, full of energy but some of Noels' early lyrics were very dodgy indeed. He did improve. Personally I love their 2005 album Don't believe the truth, that is definitely worth a listen
Larry, I'm so happy that you're gettin' subscribers successfuly so fast! I'm gonna promote your channel in different regions, where there's topics of 60s or 70s rock music, I hope I could help to get them even more 😊 And about Oasis album. I would give it a 10-/10 it's a strong and a wonderful album, one of the last super great rock albums, after this one there weren't really much that great rock albums in the past 30 years (well... The Strokes ,,Is This It" might be the one only) and yes, it flows so good, very enjoyable album
I’m with you Larry, back in the 90s, I never liked the brothers attitudes. Although I really loved the music. Liam has grown on me over the years, he’s now a pretty funny and humorous character! Loved hearing your thoughts on this classic album! 😊🙏❤️☘️😎👍
was into Oasis back in their heyday. The 2nd album is definitely more polished but my favorite is the 1st release. Definitely Maybe . The 90s British Re-invasion with them and Blur and Suede and Stone Roses 🌹
yeah, it's nice that you appreciate this album - you're right about the flow and production, very strong - the album Definitely Maybe is arguably just as good - particularly the songs Live Forever, Columbia, Slide Away
I do love Oasis and they're one of my favourite bands. Morning Glory is my favourite besides Definitely Maybe. To me, it's one of the strongest song writing for melody and hooks from Noel and Liam's vocals were fantastic. Champagne Supernova is always my number one track from the band. I would also say this that Morning Glory is the most overrated rock album of the 90's as it is madly hyped up as one the greatest rock albums when there are many other ones I love as much that I'd pick over it. It's one of my all time favourites, but it's not one of the top rock albums.
Like you I dismissed them when they were popular but over the years have grown to love their first two albums. Pretty undeniable stuff. The live albums are fantastic as well.
I have never owned an Oasis album but I am familiar with their early stuff - a friend of mine was a fan plus they were all over the radio. I liked Brit Pop but I never got into Oasis. I didn’t like the vocals but I get why the Poms liked them - very British. In the mid 90s I visited the UK a couple of times to see family, the second time was for 6 months and when I hear Brit Pop, including some Oasis, it does bring back good memories. That’s when I first heard Stanley Rd although I actually bought that in Italy.
The first two albums are fantastic. It's hit and miss after that. Every album has a couple of great songs. I always liked Liam and Noel. They put a bit of attitude back into rock after years of of woe is me shogazing.
Oasis...maybe i should stick to comments about the music, but making music doesnt give one a license to be rude or having a " screw you all " attitude.
This is a top 10 album for me, I think it's absolutely perfect. I actually just listened to this yesterday! Noel Gallagher on Don't Look Back in Anger is incredible.
Nice review, Larry! I stayed away from Oasis for many years for the same reason as yours. Liam and Noel's arrogant attitudes! But in more recent years, I finally gave this album a listen, and loved it! One of the best 90's albums and at this point, as good as any classic rock album. If you're ever interested, check out some of the b-sides from this era, as they are just as great as the album tracks! My favorites are "Acquiesce", "Underneath The Sky" "Talk Tonight", "Rockin' Chair", and "The Masterplan". All excellent. Their debut album Definitely Maybe is another classic, with more of a Sex Pistols vibe! :)
I’ll try to keep an open mind but I’ve just never cared for the personalities of the brothers and I’ve always loved Damon and Blur so due to that rivalry I’ve always loved Blur and neglected Oasis. Especially because the Gallaghers always compare themselves to the Beatles. George Harrison hated that and said Barenaked Ladies were a better comparison. I also love how Blur were more Kinks inspired
Brilliant album..and great reaction! Whats so amazing about Oasis is their back catalouge. Their b-sides are stronger than most bands A-sides. You should give The Masterplan a listen. It's a album of their b-sides.
Oasis is my favourite band and you’re one of my favourite youtubers. If you don’t like this, I’ll be disappointed. 🤣 Glad you liked it! 👌 I was never fan of brit pop, but Oasis is more of a rnr band in my opinion.
There are loads of British Bands North America has never understood and vice versa. Different cultures totally. Sorry you have been let down by You Tube because there are loads of channels that do need getting rid of imho. Take Care Mate
Oasis have great rock anthems. Don’t look back in anger, the masterplan, cigarettes and alcohol, and live forever to name a few. Personally I prefer Noel Gallagher’s solo music , Noel Gallagher’s High flying birds. I would recommend you give the compilation album ‘back the way we came’ a listen. Especially the songs ‘the death of you and me’, black star dancing, and dead in the water. More musical variety in the songs compared to oasis in my opinion. It maybe something you might enjoy. Great video 😃
Hmmm, I was 25 when this came out, I did buy it on CD at the time and thought it was good, but like you I was put off with the Brothers attitude, thing is those guys come from a poor rough background and suddenly were faced with fame and fortune that I guess they just didn't know how to handle it. But now there is just no getting away from the fact that it is a very good album. I may be wrong but I think Noel is very resentful still with Liam and it was Liam that F**ked it all up for the band with his drunken / drugged mood swings, Don't know about now but Liam definitely had some mental health problems going on.
If you detach from their coked up arrogance in 1995, this album is an epic and one of the biggest of all-time. The recent SNL sketch about the Gallaghers was very unfunny. Bloody Americans.
I've only heard a couple of Oasis's songs Larry, their big hits and they're definitely good but I get tired of just hearing the same voice on every song,it's the same with the Stones, everything sounds the same after awhile but with the Beatles because they have different singers singing all kinds of different styles the Beatles cover so many bases and that's why the Beatles are the greatest Band ever. Bob
Oasis are capable of writing badass songs ("F***ing in the Bushes") and unbearable pop songs (Don't Look back in Anger). "What's the Story" has some good moments but at the time there were British bands like Suede and Ride who were writing much better quality music...
Nice video. Can you please react to Keane Hopes And Fears. It is in my humble opinion a fantastic album. It is a recommendation for the next time you do a video like this. My fav Oasis song is Champagne Supernova
Thanks Larry. How much is your subscription. I am sorry about your first channel been a viewer for about 8 ish years. I am sorry about 18 years of hard work gone down the drain 😭
As a zeitgeist capsule it's at least good to have experienced it as a whole. Wonderwall is not a song anyone ever needs to hear again definitely maybe. I'd say Blur probably came out of the "war" with a bit more dignity. Guess you have to listen to them next? Park Life! As a comedy act the Gallagher brothers are still quite excellent though.

Noel sings songs too. Not just Liam
Oasis have different singers and they’re 1000 times better than the Beatles.
What?? Literally one of oasis’s biggest traits was having two great singers who could sing the same songs but make them sound so different.
You can’t have an opinion like that until you’ve heard more songs. If you did listen to some more, you’d know that Liam doesn’t sing every song
As opposed to 90% of bands that have the same lead singer?
