WOW! enjoyed this video so much 👌🏽🙏🏽 If you ever get the time and you please break down the cords in this video : ruclips.net/video/WETERc9JXjI/видео.html
I think this is my favorite music channel now and I'm a guitar player. I just realized that because I'm back again and always learn something interesting. Sometimes it take a little sink in the half of a brain cell I have left but it does somehow.
The black note/white note grouping is really useful. I think the easiest way to think of the fingering is to use 131 on the groups of white notes ( i.e. CDE or FGA). If you do this the hand is at the correct angle for the entire span of the keyboard as long as you move your body for the higher notes.
I’m so glad that you and several others are keeping Barry Harris’s teachings alive I never had the honor of meeting him l…you are keeping his legacy alive
I definitely heard Stevie Wonder’s “Sunshine Of My Life” intro the first time you played the whole tone triads in ascending direction… what a buzz I got when you dropped that anecdotal nugget‼️
I have been a subscriber for over a year and I’ve never failed to learn something from each of your videos. Any thought to expanding the jazz lesson vocabulary to include for example hard bop or quartal harmony songs?
OMG! Thank you so much for making this video! I can already tell that this is a total game changer. It's so easy for me to visualize these and knowing there are only truly two. Wow. Never thought of it that way. It's a life hack for sure
Awesome!!! When I was younger I would look up all the chords to figure out what these jazz guys are doing and couldn't ever get a proper answer... Now I see what you did... augmented chords, but it's about voicings, inversions, and what you add to the left hand to make it more than a simple augmented chord diversifies it a lot!!! Great video! Liked and subscribed!!!
Thanks for this video, this is stuff I spent a long time thinking about on my own, watching clips of Barry and studying his playing. It is so validating to see you talking about it. Whole tone over dominants is one of my favorite ways to voice and move voices on dominants. Those symmetrical structures are easy to dive deep into - you can also do the same thing with diminished scales and their voice movements over dominants. Exploiting tonal symmetry for extreme reharmonization is the heart of bebop and Barry’s sound imo
As always… so clear. Your videos are enough to keep me busy but I will definitely register in your course when I retire and have more time to practice !! In 6 to 9 months 👍
Hi 👋 In which video you teach movement using the song My one and only love by Guy wood Thanks man Can you also do Melody lines in chord changes on a fuel Jazz tune and if you have some already please share the link ? Thanks

Glad it was helpful! The whole tone moves are great to have in your tool-bag.
Thanks a lot! Had been wondering if Stevie was using an altered or whole tone scale.. Now I have my answer ;)
I like your style of playing chords as a melody/solo. I'm trying to work on that; but you have it down cold. Nice job!
When I was studying with Barry, I would watch him doing it and my mind is still blown :)

Is that you, Shan? I used to go to university with you! Great to see your channel. I'm subscribing. 🙂
I think it's me! :) Welcome aboard Phil.
dominant chord means you can move around mixolydian, lydian and now whole tone
Dominants have the most options as they come from the most scales.

At 10:53 what's that Ab B D on C? Perhaps from a C#5 scale? Thank you.
Why the intro sounds like Bill evans ? Very similar
If only that were true :)

Thank You Master!!!! @mikeluisipiano
I play my chords with my left hand . You play chords with your right. Is this a preference or method?
Your comment inspired my most recent video. You can see it here: ruclips.net/video/GKcCMeWQBBg/видео.html
