A quick calculation reveals that this "tax break" won't do much for us. Retired, no kids, no diapers yet, buy mostly real food, don't eat in restaurants... the rebate adds up to.... NOTHING. Guess it's all for show... and the coming election of course.

If that's all you're getting it sounds like nobody's told you about the GIS. A single retired Canadian over 65 receives a minimum of $1814.55/month in combined CPP/OAS/GIS... assuming they have no other income and meet OAS residency requirements for a full pension...

I understand you're frustrated at the state of Canada. I am too. However, try to understand that the Conservatives won't be any different. History has shown us, time and time again, that the Canadian Conservatives will just do whatever the Republicans in the USA are doing. So unless you're pro-MAGA, AKA: anti women's rights to their bodies, corporations having unlimited spending on politicians, for-profit healthcare, for-profit early education, climate denial, tax breaks for the wealthy, etc, then you don't want either the Conservatives or Liberals.
"Common sense" would be to recognize that the Conservatives and Liberals are the only parties that have held federal office in Canada so they're the parties that got us into this mess. Remember, we elected Trudeau and his Liberals because the Conservatives, "had ruined housing affordability, gutted investments in science and education, given away thousands of social housing to for-profit landlords and cut healthcare".
Don't even take my word for it. Just look at Nova Scotia's Conservatives cutting all housing assistance programs and tenants rights amid the country's worst housing crisis that made hundreds of people homeless practically overnight. Look at Ontario's Conservatives giving away the Greenbelt to billionaire investors. Look at Alberta's Conservatives denying climate change and gutting education. Look at Poilievre's lobbying groups receive million dollar donations from billionaires like Galen Weston. Look at Poilievre personally making millions off unaffordable housing. If you see that, then there's no way "Common Sense" can think the Conservatives will help us.
Also, try to recognize that when you use terms like, "Nothing you do will change our minds", then you're acknowledging that your anger isn't grounded in reality. If your anger is grounded in reality, then there could be "something" that could change your mind. It's just that neither the Conservatives or Liberals are presenting that "something".
