def statute of david, he’d be strong and stoic, probably a jock. some others i thought of: - american gothic: they can be father/daughter (not husband and wife that many have interpreted them as). i can see the father in the painting being a teacher and his daughter obv being his daughter, i think they’d be carbon copies of each other personality wise. - madame x: maybe another teacher or an older student who everyone is infatuated with but too scared to talk to her ? idk - the kiss: that gross couple that make out in the school hallways or under the stairwell lol - the scream: prob a comedic relief character, terrified of everything

This is just a suggestion-- but for your comment on Liam not entirely matching with the rest of the group, I think it would be cool if he were given some sort of abstract pop art twist, but in a Hobie from Spider Verse kind of way. Almost like he popped out of a painting, and had outlines framing him with those comic dot textures as the shadows on his face, and maybe that would help elevate his design with the rest of the group?

Magritte is the one who did the famous "this isn't a pipe" art piece, which belongs to a serie of art piece made around Magritte's thoughts around the object and its representation in art. It's been a while since I've visited the museum where it's explained, but it's pretty interesting, and make a character inspired by one of magritte's paintings using art to communicate be pretty relevant! I mean, they're paintings, so it' relevant either way, but I think with Magritte it really is :) (also go look up "l'usage de la parole" by him, it's the kind of thing that first crossed my mind when I saw your comment x) )

I'm an art student and here's the deal with dora: -She was an artist until picasso started dating her when he started bullying her into not doing art anymore -she was his wife for a bit and picasso did the thing he does with his wives (not dating minors, the other one) -unlike most of picasso's children and other mistresses she did not kill herself but instead died deep in depression at the age of 89 Anyways... good video love the art :> Edit: if you want an art piece for a character idea i'd suggest the Dadaist movement for a prankster character. The whole thing was a response by the art world after ww1 to stop taking itself so damn deriously. Urinals were signed, machines with zero purpose were made and most popularily; a mustache was drawn on a postcard of dear ol' mona. I'd see an eccentric tinkering type guy who takes none of the cast's status seriously and endlessly vlowns on them.

small idea for lucifer’s graphic tee!! i know you mentioned that you wanted kind of a silly saying on it,, so my idea is that it could be a text print graphic tee that says something along the lines of: “did it hurt?? when you fell from heaven”; i think it’d be funny given that that’s the paintings main theme 🤭🤭
My absolute favourite historical artist is alphonse mucha. He has so many beautiful pieces. The majority of the stuff he's known for were actually adverts that were made on mass rather than one of a kind paintings that could only be seen in a gallery so maybe the character could be an outsider to the rest of the cast. She's from another school or something.

Since they're all travelling to different paintings in a gallery as implied high schoolers - they're basically constantly on field trips where Mona and Pearl get sidetracked ( and often unnoticed since they aren't in the Modern Art Clique ) while Lucifer attempts to sabotage each landmark they all go to for shits and giggles I think you translating battle ground artworks could be fun challenges ! Or statues . Someone already mentioned David but I believe Pieta would also go hard !
One of my favorite paintings is “Woman with a Parasol” by Monet, it’s a gorgeous painting. I can see the woman being a teacher at the school. It would also be cool to see “Starry Night” by Van Gogh as a background setting, maybe even being the actual school they go to. Or actually “The School of Athens” by Raphael could be inspiration for their school

i really like the gallery wall! maybe it could be their school walls, there school is a gallery and to be a student you need to have your portrait hung up. maybe as a side plot ‘glitches’ keep finding there way into the school, when a student hangs up a scribble modern art people come in and mess up the school or something lol really like the idea!!
I have a few suggestions for your part 2. I am a huge art nerd and searching these things up is my hobby. A famous piece of art I like is “The Swing”. The meaning behind it is “Horrifying” but it’s a beautiful piece to look at. “The birth of Venus.” Is another famous art piece of the goddess of beauty Aphrodite. Tbh I can see her and Pearl being friends in a sense of style and fashion. I am very sorry for rambling. I love your art and this story idea is incredible.

Everyone knows Claude Monet for those water lily paintings, but there’s a gorgeous painting he did of his wife called something along the lines of “the lady in the green dress” it’s my personal favorite. He also has a controversial painting of her in like a kimono and a sad piece of her on her death bed. I still think it would be fun to have them as a character living in a Lilly garden like a teacher in the school greenhouse or something
I love this so much! I would watch the hell out of this show if it was real. I like the idea of Guy being non verbal. It’d be cool to see you incorporate ASL into the comic if you do end up turning the concept into one. When you said you wanted Gabriel to be a redeemable character, the first thing that came to mind for me was him and Guy becoming friends. Like guy is forced to or offers to tutor him and they form a friendship that could parallel Mona and Pearl’s. Also, would it be okay to design oc’s for this world? I know some creators prefer fan art of existing characters versus fans creating fan characters so I wanted to check in before I draw anything! Thank you for sharing your creative process! If you do ever make a statue character, here is an idea for their personality. The gimmick could be that they are extremely strong and love sports but they mostly keep to themselves and never really talk to anyone. When someone does try to talk to them, they get so nervous that they freeze and turn to stone, only turning back when there are no eyes on them. This could leave room for character development with them learning to open up and stand up to other characters.

I think if you a part 2, you should try A Huguenot, on St. Bartholomew's Day. Its quite a tragic painting, and it could be interesting to make them an already established couple since you only have crushes rn. I could see them as the "it" couple, the ones who are super dramatic and lovey dovey. They annoy the crap out of the other students, like "GET A ROOM, OMG," but have the strongest relationship out of anybody so some are just jealous.

I feel like some of Mara's friends are either Andy Warhol and/or Salvador Dali paintings like Campbell's Soup Cans (which could be done in the same fashion as Guy) or Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening, due to all of them being surreal art pieces. Could make a great Mean Girls parody if you include the rest of Mona & Pearl's cast.
I have a lot of things to say about this video so buckle up (good things, i promise) I love guy! He's so funny. I really like the idea of him being nonverbal, but I understand that can be hard to play with in a comic. I feel like you embodied mona and pearl so well. Their personalities really make sense to me and the way you drew their outfits and everything just fits. Mara is super cool! Also really like how you played with the idea that the characters don't have to be completely realistic with her and guy. It's an art world, and it's very cool that you conveyed all types of art! I wasn't really feeling lucifer until you drew him in his original pose at the end and then it clicked and he's one of my favorite designs now! The direction you went with liam's character design was very refreshing, because up until liam, it had all been as if the characters crawled out of their respective paintings and started interacting (NOT THAT THAT'S A BAD THING, I LOVE IT). I enjoyed how you twisted around the gender, and made his clothing scene! I don't really see that represented a lot in character lineups for potential pieces of media. If you ever did this again (I'd love if you did so much!), a painting I would suggest is Woman with a Head of Roses by Salvador Dali. I don't know how she would fit into this world you've created, but it would be very interesting. Maybe a maternal figure for guy? That's really the only painting I can think of that would be good for character design lol. Sorry for yapping so much, I just enjoyed this video very much.
If you want to add more guys to this universe you created I would love to see your take on Gallen Kallela's "Kullervo Cursing". It isn't that well known of a painting outside of Finland, but I think you could create an interesting character from it with incorporating some of the already existing lore the painting's character has.

I love this so much! I do think you should put Lucifer in at least a like skin colored shirt, maybe a cutoff. I also think Liam could be a bit more Pop Art, like add dots and brighter colors, maybe a perpetual tear too. As for paintings you need to do Birth of Venus by Botticelli, The Creation of Adam by Michalangelo, maybe Primavera by Botticelli (maybe as the dance team), Flaming June by Leighton, The Last Supper by da Vinci, Christina's World by Wyeth, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Seurat, American Gothic by Wood as father and daughter, too name a few

You could give her a sorta siren or mermaid core and make her top look like a clam shell! Oh also since you want to do a sculpture I think you could try The Discus Thrower! Maybe you could make his name related to bronze since he’s made of bronze or a word related to Greek since he was made in Ancient Greek? Just some ideas I thought I’d share ^^

Here are some ideas that came to my mind while watching this: Mona getting kidnapped in her youth as a nod of reference to the kidnapping of the painting, and only after that event she would be more recognised, again a nod to the paintings history, with its 'value' increasing by lots after the event. Maar's parents could be the type of people who make a big deal out of everything, and while I really dont want to connect Picasso to this, I KINDA liked the fact that he drew people how he saw them with exaggerated features. Guy would definetly be one of those people who wears hats and suits unironically. I thought of young sheldon, so ties and butterflies possibly as well. Liam would be the definition of male manipulator. Same with Lucifer, until one point, at which he probably did something that's considered questionable for a high-school student and that would be the way he exiled himself, and he only calls it a choice because he's a bit salty.

if you're considering adding statues to the cast, "the thinker" has some good character potential

small idea for lucifer’s graphic tee!! i know you mentioned that you wanted kind of a silly saying on it,, so my idea is that it could be a text print graphic tee that says something along the lines of: “did it hurt?? when you fell from heaven”; i think it’d be funny given that that’s the paintings main theme 🤭🤭

My absolute favourite historical artist is alphonse mucha. He has so many beautiful pieces. The majority of the stuff he's known for were actually adverts that were made on mass rather than one of a kind paintings that could only be seen in a gallery so maybe the character could be an outsider to the rest of the cast. She's from another school or something.

Since they're all travelling to different paintings in a gallery as implied high schoolers - they're basically constantly on field trips where Mona and Pearl get sidetracked ( and often unnoticed since they aren't in the Modern Art Clique ) while Lucifer attempts to sabotage each landmark they all go to for shits and giggles
I think you translating battle ground artworks could be fun challenges ! Or statues . Someone already mentioned David but I believe Pieta would also go hard !

One of my favorite paintings is “Woman with a Parasol” by Monet, it’s a gorgeous painting. I can see the woman being a teacher at the school.
It would also be cool to see “Starry Night” by Van Gogh as a background setting, maybe even being the actual school they go to.

I have a few suggestions for your part 2. I am a huge art nerd and searching these things up is my hobby.
A famous piece of art I like is “The Swing”. The meaning behind it is “Horrifying” but it’s a beautiful piece to look at.
“The birth of Venus.” Is another famous art piece of the goddess of beauty Aphrodite. Tbh I can see her and Pearl being friends in a sense of style and fashion.

Everyone knows Claude Monet for those water lily paintings, but there’s a gorgeous painting he did of his wife called something along the lines of “the lady in the green dress” it’s my personal favorite. He also has a controversial painting of her in like a kimono and a sad piece of her on her death bed. I still think it would be fun to have them as a character living in a Lilly garden like a teacher in the school greenhouse or something

I love this so much! I would watch the hell out of this show if it was real. I like the idea of Guy being non verbal. It’d be cool to see you incorporate ASL into the comic if you do end up turning the concept into one. When you said you wanted Gabriel to be a redeemable character, the first thing that came to mind for me was him and Guy becoming friends. Like guy is forced to or offers to tutor him and they form a friendship that could parallel Mona and Pearl’s.
Also, would it be okay to design oc’s for this world? I know some creators prefer fan art of existing characters versus fans creating fan characters so I wanted to check in before I draw anything! Thank you for sharing your creative process! I love watching your videos, they get me so hyped to draw!

If you do ever make a statue character, here is an idea for their personality.
The gimmick could be that they are extremely strong and love sports but they mostly keep to themselves and never really talk to anyone. When someone does try to talk to them, they get so nervous that they freeze and turn to stone, only turning back when there are no eyes on them. This could leave room for character development with them learning to open up and stand up to other characters.

Its quite a tragic painting, and it could be interesting to make them an already established couple since you only have crushes rn. I could see them as the "it" couple, the ones who are super dramatic and lovey dovey. They annoy the crap out of the other students, like "GET A ROOM, OMG," but have the strongest relationship out of anybody so some are just jealous.

I feel like the scream and birth of Venus are two characters that would have to make an appearance at some point! I also think a couple inspired by American gothic would be quite funny
I feel like some of Mara's friends are either Andy Warhol and/or Salvador Dali paintings like Campbell's Soup Cans (which could be done in the same fashion as Guy) or Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening, due to all of them being surreal art pieces.
Could make a great Mean Girls parody if you include the rest of Mona & Pearl's cast.
I have a lot of things to say about this video so buckle up (good things, i promise)
I love guy! He's so funny. I really like the idea of him being nonverbal, but I understand that can be hard to play with in a comic. I feel like you embodied mona and pearl so well. Their personalities really make sense to me and the way you drew their outfits and everything just fits. Mara is super cool! Also really like how you played with the idea that the characters don't have to be completely realistic with her and guy. It's an art world, and it's very cool that you conveyed all types of art! I wasn't really feeling lucifer until you drew him in his original pose at the end and then it clicked and he's one of my favorite designs now! The direction you went with liam's character design was very refreshing, because up until liam, it had all been as if the characters crawled out of their respective paintings and started interacting (NOT THAT THAT'S A BAD THING, I LOVE IT). I enjoyed how you twisted around the gender, and made his clothing scene! I don't really see that represented a lot in character lineups for potential pieces of media.
If you ever did this again (I'd love if you did so much!), a painting I would suggest is Woman with a Head of Roses by Salvador Dali. I don't know how she would fit into this world you've created, but it would be very interesting. Maybe a maternal figure for guy? That's really the only painting I can think of that would be good for character design lol.

If you want to add more guys to this universe you created I would love to see your take on Gallen Kallela's "Kullervo Cursing". It isn't that well known of a painting outside of Finland, but I think you could create an interesting character from it with incorporating some of the already existing lore the painting's character has.

My favorite artist is Francis Bacon and I imagined a really strange inhuman looking character that looks loud but is very introverted

I feel that because of this a character based on the painting would be either a potential companion or possible moral opposite to Lucifer!!
(omg im already down a rabbit hole, for a further idea, if lucifer has a character development to make him go from being an edgelord to someone more redeamable, then maybe the character based on Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan could go from being a good guy to spiraling into a possible antagonist! god this story is so fun and its not even mine 😅)

I love this so much! I do think you should put Lucifer in at least a like skin colored shirt, maybe a cutoff. I also think Liam could be a bit more Pop Art, like add dots and brighter colors, maybe a perpetual tear too. As for paintings you need to do Birth of Venus by Botticelli, The Creation of Adam by Michalangelo, maybe Primavera by Botticelli (maybe as the dance team), Flaming June by Leighton, The Last Supper by da Vinci, Christina's World by Wyeth, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Seurat, American Gothic by Wood as father and daughter, too name a few

OMG I LOVE THIS IDEA SO MUCH!! I would love to see you make a character based of the painting The Birth of Venus made by Sandro Botticelli. You could give her a sorta siren or mermaid core and make her top look like a clam shell! Oh also since you want to do a sculpture I think you could try The Discus Thrower! Maybe you could make his name related to bronze since he’s made of bronze or a word related to Greek since he was made in Ancient Greek? Just some ideas I thought I’d share ^^

i know u said they wouldn't have any sort of crisis abt being paintings but the idea of Lucifer being aware of his painting makes him so funny to me. "Im destined to be evil, i was modeled after the devil himself, there is no other path for me" vs everyone elses "dude its not that deep, pls calm down this is a dennys"(but theyre in that diner with no door) idk i think i just like making edgy guys little sopping meow meows LMAO. also i love the idea of guy being non verbal, we dont get enough non and semi verbal characters, if you ever did comic them asl can be really expressive, plus i feel theres some fun potential with the surrealism there but my brain will not connect the dots rip artfight stole my braincells
Here are some ideas that came to my mind while watching this:
Mona getting kidnapped in her youth as a nod of reference to the kidnapping of the painting, and only after that event she would be more recognised, again a nod to the paintings history, with its 'value' increasing by lots after the event.
Maar's parents could be the type of people who make a big deal out of everything, and while I really dont want to connect Picasso to this, I KINDA liked the fact that he drew people how he saw them with exaggerated features.
Guy would definetly be one of those people who wears hats and suits unironically. I thought of young sheldon, so ties and butterflies possibly as well.
Liam would be the definition of male manipulator.
Same with Lucifer, until one point, at which he probably did something that's considered questionable for a high-school student and that would be the way he exiled himself, and he only calls it a choice because he's a bit salty.
