I am a huge Scorsese fan and man, I really like Goodfellas, The Departed, Taxi Driver, Wolf of Wall Street, Casino, and Gangs of New York. But most of all, Raging Bull, the greatest movie of all time!!!
He's my favourite director. Although, the departed is my personal favourite of his, I also think that Raging Bull, from a craftsmanship standpoint is the most(at least one of) well-made movie of all time.

A true genius. Best living american director talking about what is probably his best film (and he has many other masterpieces...Taxi Driver, Raging Bull)
Great film. One of my favorites. Nothing beats that scene with the Clapton song, 'Layla' in the background. Rare occurrence where part of a song and film seem like they were made for each other.
Martin Scorsese Has a Wonderful Voice When He Speaks By Taking His Time With His Thoughts On Goodfellas One Of My Favorite Crime Movies Ever I Know He's Italian In His Voice Just Like Robert De Niro Is!
I wish he would make a movie of "The Deeds of my Fathers" by Paul David Pope with Robert Deniro playing Frank Costello and Martin playing Gene Pope at the National Enquirer!!!
@legendsxdie123 He is a film encyclopedia because before going into the film-making business, Scorsese was a film critic, thus allowing to learn about films WAY more than the average person.
Goodfellas is probably one of my favorite Scorsese films (along with Raging Bull). It's definitely one of the greatest gangster films-it has a terrific story, acting, camera work, and tons of other terrific elements. All my life I've wanted to be a gangster forever!
You are forgetting the scene in Taxi Driver when Travis kills a black thief at a convenience store, and the store owner asks Travis to leave as if nothing happened. Although, I don't think Scorsese has a racist side at all. He's too smart for something like that.
A double billing of Public Enemy & Little Ceasar! Nice night for the big screen! Love both of those, he's right P.E. is more realistic, but I do love ol' Edward G.Robinson though! Seeee!
It would be fantastic if Tarantino and Scorsese teamed up and wrote a script together and even directed the film together. Maybe the film would be something like Pulp Fiction meets The Departed. Now, that would be epic!
@@mynameispredatormynameispr1231 this interview aint about the great train robbery. How are we supposed to know. Luckily for me i was reading comments.
Martin Scorsese is probably one of the greatest directors of all time! Goodfellas, The Departed, Gangs of New York, and Cape Fear are probably my top four favorite Scorsese films but I've always wondered if Scorsese had a racist side to him since most of his films have dialogue that belittles or discriminates against African-Americans. Just a thought.
Chuck you couldnt understand a word, this guy is talking in english pronunciating words correctly, whats the matter with you, you dont know how to listen?
Scorsese glorified the criminals in Goodfellas; he made the cops and people that reported the criminals as clowns. He's more sympathetic (and fan of) these thugs than he's willing to admit...
That's your interpretation. He shows us how we can be seduced by that life style. He did the same with Wolf of wall street. The character in that lives an incredibly lavish life, but ultimately loses everything, and everyone around him gets destroyed. If you watch his films and them really want to become like the people in his films, you're a little messed up.
Had he intended to glorify them, he wouldn't have included all of the incredibly nauseating violence and the last act where we see them all getting their comeuppance. Glorifying them would have had them acting for some motive other than money and power, but there's none of that. Granted the main characters show concern and fraternity for one another, but in the end, they all try to sell out the other. So, sure, if you watch only the first 90 minutes, it's a glorification. The last hour or so is anything but.
Ive often watched Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese on separate interviews discuss their love of movies. And just watching people describe their passion is always a thrill because you're buying the person and not jus the movies they describe. They help to see the product in a different way. Sorry I rambled but anyway, I always felt that the difference between watching Spielberg describe movies and Scorsese describe movies, Spielberg is definitely a textbook or an encyclopedia while Scorsese is a friggin library.
Scorsese is like a film encyclopedia, i love hearing him speak.

I'm offended you didn't at least mention King of comedy

The Departed is my favorite. Goodfellas is a close second. Casino is good too. But I don't think The Wolf of Wall Street was that great.
I only liked The Departed and no else movies of him.
MY NAME IS PREDATOR MY NAME IS PREDATOR Wrong. Greatest movie of all Time is The Godfather

Finally a decent length interview with one of the best directors around. Happy birthday Scorsese
This man is sure one of the best directors ever.
Greatest movie ever made. I can't exaggerate how many times I've seen it. Since I was a kid. I'm 35 and I've seen it "literally " a hundred times.
Now go home and get your fucking shinebox

Or having a brutal beat-down to a hippie sounding Donovan’s “Atlantis”!
Cape Fear is criminally underrated
Goodfellas, Casino, Taxi Driver and After Hours are my favorite Scorsese movies.
Happy Birthday Martin!

1:08 He slipped and almost said Paul Vario instead of Paul Sorvino lol Pauly in Goodfellas is based off real life mobster Paul Vario.
Such lovely lighting. Who ever did it, deserves to be commended.
One of the greatest directors of modern cinema!
I wish he would make a movie of "The Deeds of my Fathers" by Paul David Pope with Robert Deniro playing Frank Costello and Martin playing Gene Pope at the National Enquirer!!!
Genius, one of my greatest inspirations.
I met him a couple of years ago
charmingfella
Details, if you’re comfortable to share?
I could listen to him talk about film all day.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARTIN
Do you really expect gangsters to be politically correct with their language?
Some of the greatest film makers come from New York. I think only a city like New York can produce minds like Martin.
You should fix the audio in this AFI.
@legendsxdie123 He is a film encyclopedia because before going into the film-making business, Scorsese was a film critic, thus allowing to learn about films WAY more than the average person.
never made that connection between the last shot of goodfellas and that of great train robbery...but last time i checked im not martin scorsese
Goodfellas is probably one of my favorite Scorsese films (along with Raging Bull). It's definitely one of the greatest gangster films-it has a terrific story, acting, camera work, and tons of other terrific elements. All my life I've wanted to be a gangster forever!

One of the greatest
I would to see a film written by Tarintino and DIrected by Scoesese
Russo Cinematics or a Scorsese script directed by Tarantino
Nope directed by scorsese and written by tarantino
He looks like a mob boss..lol Amazing director. Love all his movies
Scorsese is absolutely brilliant. Taxi Driver is a masterpiece (among others of course, but definitely my favorite).
If i ever have to take my hat off. It would be for him . Respect to mr Scorsese
I'm gonna PAYYUMM!!!
Wow, fantastic video!
Goodfellas Martin Scoresese Masterpiece,
A double billing of Public Enemy & Little Ceasar! Nice night for the big screen! Love both of those, he's right P.E. is more realistic, but I do love ol' Edward G.Robinson though! Seeee!
Love Scorsese. One of the realest directors out there next to Mel Gibson and Clint Eastwood.
Admiración sin límites

Does anyone know how to find the full interview?
Scorsese is the absolute BEST
Masterpiece
Perfect.
Only just noticed he looks like Paulie Walnuts
Hail Scorsese.
I don't think he is racist, because he's showing it in a bad light.
Does anyone have this video where it isn't sped up x 1.5?
how he speaks haha love it

He spoils me with The great train robbery
then you should have seen the movie before getting to this video, dumbass.

THOSE EYEBROWS!!!
He needs to make a film about the Russian mob in the US.
That's not what he knows. He knows the Italian mob from the 50s and the 60s
Marty makes movies on Wiseguys
I would love to see that or the Mexican cartels.
Watch eastern promises by cronenberg
Scorsese's eyebrows look like 2 Mustaches
The 🎥 🐐
1.09: Is he about to say Paul VERHOEVEN? That's odd.
No, he mistakenly said “Vario”. Paul Vario was the real life name of the Paul Cicero character.

He made great movies but always remember the nameless people and the City that inspired him are the real stars….
It was different times buddy. It's not like Marthin Luther King had a dream for nothing.

He's so awesome to listen to but every now and again he gets carried away and says some strange things. Such a good director
God bless you
