I think he's in the early 30s when he died, tho--that's why she called him Ahjussi (uncle/old man) through the series, I think? Granted I think in Korea ppl called someone Ahjussi when they were 28-ish and above. So late 20s are still acceptable--25 is still also acceptable albeit she will be on the rude side if she decided to call him that. lol.

Tbh, people always label this one of the best k-dramas but I, too, had to do mental gymnastics because she's in a school uniform for a lonnnggg time and it's W E I R D. I kept telling myself "she's 19, that's legal age in the U.S., she's 19 that's legal age in the U.S." But it's reallyy hard to get through. The thing that kept me going with the show was the Goblin/Grim Reaper relationship and eventually the Goblin/Grim Reaper/Sunny relationship. I couldn't get invested in the main storyline until much, much later when there's a --- *SPOILER* -- time jump. - The writing is veryy good (like, SO GOOD) and so is the acting, but the kid thing and her always being in that school uniform was just too weird for me.
GOBLIN, LEGEND OF THE BLUE SEA and HOTEL DEL LUNA need a crossover series. KIM GO EUN has a beautiful singing voice too. She sings with (he who kissed Jisoo) Jung HaeIn on begin again season 3. That entire season is brilliant,TAEYEON is soo amazing!

This is spoiler free (and very long I'm sorry) but here is an explanation of the reincarnation thing. I'm sure y'all already know by now but basically the Goblin is immortal and has stayed his same age since he "died" back then. He can't stay in one place too long because the mortals would notice him not aging, so he lives in one place for a while and then moves once a handful of years pass. Other shows have also done something similar - like the Cullen family in Twilight moving around a lot and their "children" having to repeat high school. In some cultures, sometimes it's said that people can be reborn with the same face once in a while, which is why the child from his original life (the era when he became Goblin) and the present time's Deokhwa looked the same. Deokhwa and his grandpa are descendants of the elderly man and child who vowed to serve him. That same family has taken care of the Goblin for many centuries, always protecting him, handling his assets, and ensuring that he's moved around properly when the time comes. They are some of his most cherished people among a few others around the world who he helped throughout the years - like the struggling boy overseas who he gave a sandwich to and broke the step-dad's ribs to help him find the strength and time to talk to. The elderly man who is taking care of him in the present time said he wouldn't be here during his next "life" because the Goblin planned to leave for overseas for that extended period of time since he had been in Korea for a while now. It was time to move on again, but the old man is reaching his final years in his life so he knows that if the Goblin leaves that he wouldn't see him again. The next in line to serve the Goblin and handle everything is Deokhwa. Also some other notes but Ji Euntak's mother looked at the ring the granny had back then, but didn't take it with her. The granny still has the ring. And the main grim reaper in the story (bc there are a whole bunch of them) knows the goblin because they've brushed past one another a few times, but they didn't know each other on a deeper level. They just didn't like each other very much from the start. No grim reaper ever tried to take the Goblin's soul after his mortal self died back then because it was God who gave him his punishment in the first place. Their distaste for each other is mainly because the Goblin can cause them trouble if he revives people and it makes them have a lot of paperwork.
Best kdrama ever!!!! I've rewatched it like 5 times (count since it was released until now)! it has everything like a very great storyline, actors, and characters. Every scene is just so beautiful! I wish Korean made more romance fantasy dramas like this TT

Ok. The characters, The grandmother selling jewelry is life. Meaning she creates human life. There's a scene where she's walking as an old person but suddenly becomes young. She is life, so she can choose whatever age she transforms herself into. Grim Reaper - Is someone who accompanies dead people to the afterlife. Spoiler- Souls that have done a lot of bad deed in their life, once dead, become grim reapers. Goblin - He was given the reward of immortality by God, but punishment accompanied that reward. His punishment was watching his loved ones die while he lived on with painful memories of their death. He is able to die only when his bride pulls the sword out. Eun Tak- the main character girl. She can see ghosts as a result of goblin saving her mother and her.
As a Korean, I wonder why the translation became Goblin It's called do-ggae-bi, a legend of the intermediateism between ghosts and monsters, and it shows up at night to play tricks or ask for confrontation, and it helps and bothers people depending on their mood It's similar to Japan's oni😊
The baby he saved didn't happen to be the Goblin's bride. That baby was the first ever human he brought back to life, which is why the baby turned out to be his bride.

Nice , i was lucky enough to watch it as it aired and created a whole craze and buzz ... it's really taking me back . If you enjoy the whole supernatural romance k-drama vibe , and even if obviously different than Goblin , i'd suggest another good and more recent drama "Tale of the Nine Tailed" featuring the ever excellent Lee Dong-Wook (seen in Goblin and Stranger from hell) . it was popular (and good) enough to even receive a sequel , and might continue yet again

Omg! Goblin is still my favorite kdrama to this day and I doubt that any can ever top it. Gong Yoo is such an amazing actor and I love that the writer was so set on getting him to play the lead even if he is an older actor. Goblin is supposed to be ageless at this point so they could have casted a younger actor but it wouldn’t have been half as good honestly. I can’t see any other actor as Goblin.

We've watched it many times & we've even traveled to Canada & S Korea to visit the filming locations. (Our favorite one is that RED DOOR they transported through in ep 1!) I'm sure many people already said on your patreon but this show was written by the same screenwriter for The Glory - she won the biggest award for this show! And she was such a fan of the actor Gong Yoo, she pursued him for 4 years before he finally said YES to portray the role of Goblin! (Gong Yoo was also the main lead actor from Train to Busan which premiered the same year as Goblin so 2016 was a HUGE hit year for him. He was also the slapping recruiter in Squid Game!)

She is the "birth, life, birth god" and she delivers the child to people. She is a very old Korean god. And Koreans believe that she is the best god. And the title of the goblin is wrong. The goblin that Westerners know and the goblin that Koreans know are different. The goblin that Koreans know is a god and a god that protects people. At first, I'm sad because the title was not well known when the drama was first known. "Guardian" is everywhere, stands by us, and symbolizes fire. He likes to play around with people and play with them. The drama well described "Guardian" I think it's right to write Guardian" or Korean in alphabets as pronounced.

That same family has taken care of the Goblin for many centuries, always protecting him, handling his assets, and ensuring that he's moved around properly when the time comes. They are some of his most cherished people among a few others around the world who he helped throughout the years - like the struggling boy overseas who he gave a sandwich to and broke the step-dad's ribs to help him find the strength and time to talk to.
The elderly man who is taking care of him in the present time said he wouldn't be here during his next "life" because the Goblin planned to leave for overseas for that extended period of time since he had been in Korea for a while now. It was time to move on again, but the old man is reaching his final years in his life so he knows that if the Goblin leaves that he wouldn't see him again. The next in line to serve the Goblin and handle everything is Deokhwa.
Also some other notes but Ji Euntak's mother looked at the ring the granny had back then, but didn't take it with her. The granny still has the ring. And the main grim reaper in the story (bc there are a whole bunch of them) knows the goblin because they've brushed past one another a few times, but they didn't know each other on a deeper level. They just didn't like each other very much from the start. No grim reaper ever tried to take the Goblin's soul after his mortal self died back then because it was God who gave him his punishment in the first place. Their distaste for each other is mainly because the Goblin can cause them trouble if he revives people and it makes them have a lot of paperwork.
Best kdrama ever!!!! I've rewatched it like 5 times (count since it was released until now)! it has everything like a very great storyline, actors, and characters. Every scene is just so beautiful! I wish Korean made more romance fantasy dramas like this TT

Ok. The characters,
The grandmother selling jewelry is life. Meaning she creates human life. There's a scene where she's walking as an old person but suddenly becomes young. She is life, so she can choose whatever age she transforms herself into.
Grim Reaper - Is someone who accompanies dead people to the afterlife. Spoiler- Souls that have done a lot of bad deed in their life, once dead, become grim reapers.
Goblin - He was given the reward of immortality by God, but punishment accompanied that reward. His punishment was watching his loved ones die while he lived on with painful memories of their death. He is able to die only when his bride pulls the sword out.
Eun Tak- the main character girl. She can see ghosts as a result of goblin saving her mother and her.
As a Korean, I wonder why the translation became Goblin It's called do-ggae-bi, a legend of the intermediateism between ghosts and monsters, and it shows up at night to play tricks or ask for confrontation, and it helps and bothers people depending on their mood It's similar to Japan's oni😊

Nice , i was lucky enough to watch it as it aired and created a whole craze and buzz ... it's really taking me back . If you enjoy the whole supernatural romance k-drama vibe , and even if obviously different than Goblin , i'd suggest another good and more recent drama "Tale of the Nine Tailed" featuring the ever excellent Lee Dong-Wook (seen in Goblin and Stranger from hell) . it was popular (and good) enough to even receive a sequel , and might continue yet again

Omg! Goblin is still my favorite kdrama to this day and I doubt that any can ever top it. Gong Yoo is such an amazing actor and I love that the writer was so set on getting him to play the lead even if he is an older actor. Goblin is supposed to be ageless at this point so they could have casted a younger actor but it wouldn’t have been half as good honestly. I can’t see any other actor as Goblin.

I'm sure many people already said on your patreon but this show was written by the same screenwriter for The Glory - she won the biggest award for this show! And she was such a fan of the actor Gong Yoo, she pursued him for 4 years before he finally said YES to portray the role of Goblin! (Gong Yoo was also the main lead actor from Train to Busan which premiered the same year as Goblin so 2016 was a HUGE hit year for him. He was also the slapping recruiter in Squid Game!)

And the title of the goblin is wrong. The goblin that Westerners know and the goblin that Koreans know are different. The goblin that Koreans know is a god and a god that protects people. At first, I'm sad because the title was not well known when the drama was first known. "Guardian" is everywhere, stands by us, and symbolizes fire. He likes to play around with people and play with them. The drama well described "Guardian"
