It moves my heart. God bless New Zealand for keeping the memory, the respect, and the understanding alive.
We need to remember that the people back then looked at these aircraft in the same way that we now look at an F-35. They were cutting edge technology. Thanks to the people that are keeping these beauties flying!
That flight of SE5a s at the end was fantastic.
I saw a lot of these aircraft at the Omaka Classic Fighters Air Show 2015 and was spellbound. It was my first air show since I was a teenager and I honestly didn’t think I would get excited about World War 1 aircraft.
To quote Thorin in The Hobbit: “I have never been so wrong!”
They also had three Spitfires at Omaka. Man, that was spellbinding, too.
Thank u to everyone involved in their hard work to keep our history alive
Some beautiful hardware on display there. NZ really is the epicentre of WW1 aircraft restoration.
@EnterpriseXI Of the 19 WW1 aircraft here on the day, two original WW1 aircraft that have been restored, nine replicas, and eight extremely accurate reproduction aircraft with original engines.
Love to watch these old birds take to the skies again.
Damn, but I would have loved to have been present. Kudos to all who keep that era alive. I knew many WWI vets in my boyhood. My Dad was a WWII vet of the South Pacific, and he looked up to them.
I have to move there when i retire. Career aircraft mechanic and this would a dream of mine to work on these machines
Absolutely superb collection of WW1 replicas,so much hard work has gone into these.
Totally amazing
Great collection of aircraft..
The BE 2f, if my memory is right, foreshadowed the RE8 - they did come out of the same factory, and I think the wings were very similar. hence the mistake. Replica is, perhaps an emotive word - I'm more used to veteran road vehicles, where the border line between 'restoration' and 'replica, using some original parts' can be very, very thin indeed. Beautiful aeroplanes, never the less, and a magnificent tribute to the early airmen. Just going up in those machines, never mind fighting in them took some nerve.
Thanks for the video, I only wish I could be there watch it all in person..
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang...!!!
Amazing!
awesome video! thanks!
Great WW1 display! The Tiger moth spoils it a bit but the WW1 stuff is great.
Awesome. Better air show than today’s show with jets. And these automobiles too. Awesome
Reminds me of that Tom Selleck movie High Road to China. Awesome video
Gota keep them flying, great stuff thanks guys.
05:25 What an interesting illusion!
Brilliant! Just brilliant. There were both a Camel and a Snipe on display - though I think the big, brown twin seater was a late model BE2C, not an RE8. Just love to see these veteran aircraft in action - OK, so they're replicas, but originals are almost too fragile to risk flying nowadays. Be lovely if they could add an Albatros CII, a Rumpler or a Breguet to the collection.
Cream coloured 2-seater is a B.E.2c, green similar looking one is a B.E.2f. The 'reproductions' built by TVAL use original material and original techniques and are not 'replicas' (a.k.a. look-alikes). These aircraft are as close to original as you can possibly get -- they essentially came off the production lines 100 years too late. This is NOT an exaggeration. The Vintage Aviator Ltd also have at least FIVE original WW1 aircraft (including the B.E.2f) which they have restored, again with incredible originality, and they regularly fly them. In fact one of these aircraft, a Hanriot HD.1, was displayed, un-airworthy, in the RAFM Museum in London for many years before TVAL made it airworthy once again!
Absolut amazing! Thx for sharing! :D
Glad you enjoyed it!
I like the Sopworth Snipe, but I think I'd choose the SE5a rather than the Camel, or maybe a Bristol Fighter.
Hello from Canada 👋🏻 🇨🇦🤝🇳🇿
Hello 👋
It is very nice to watch these types of aircraft of WWI. But I can not understand where the bom were kept in aircraft. That time these was the only fighter jets I understand.
This is really good, but I wish it was more in focus. There are a lot of details that could be visible.
All of the aviation developments, both aerodynamic and structural, were awesome to behold from 1914 thru to 1918...!!! If the War had lasted one more year what would itall look like ??? The Fokker D VIII was a radical departure and with structural refinement( quality control) and the double row 160 +hp Gnome engine possibilities are awesome...!!! There I go, thinking out loud...!!!
I bet this is Peter Jackson's Toy box. He's a big WWI era fan.
I love the spad the best, just looks mean and rugged! These are replica's right?
+Gary B two are originals and the rest are replicas
by their speed, no
Ahh! Magnificent. My idea of a "private plane" (were I rich enough to afford such a thing) would be a Spad or a Pfalz D3A.
Can someone tell me how it feels to fly one of these? Where can I get lessons etc?
Do I see a Sopwith Snipe at 3:58?
Yes! Good spotting!
There's more Snipe video on our channel...
It's in New Zealand! Other side of the world from me sadly.
That's Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang!
It is, one of the originals.

"Ken Adam, who was a german-british movie production designer, best known for his set designs for the James Bond films of the 1960´s and 1970´s, designed the hero car, and six Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang cars were created for the film, only one of which was fully functional. At a 1973 auction in Florida, one sold for $37,000, equal to $213,097 today".
"The original "hero" car, in a condition described as fully functional and road-going, was offered at auction on 15 May 2011 by a California-based auction house. The car sold for $805,000, less than the $1 million to $2 million it was expected to reach. It was purchased by New Zealand film director Sir Peter Jackson."

Greetings from Venezuela.
Needs a Fokker Eindecker and a Sopwith Dolphin. Extraordinary effort to get these all flying! Even a Harry Tate there. What's the plane about 2:45 that looks like a Camel?
De Havilland DH-5.
I know that some of these WW! aircraft are replicas, with the real engines. But for the rest, and the WW1 vehicles, are these barn finds? It's not usual to find a 1015 military truck with anti-aircraft guns on it, or a Jenny, which after WW1 was released by the military and were in wide use by barn stormers and the like, in a barn, or a Fokker in pieces in a farmers shed!
I have often wondered how the Spads (7 and 13) would have faired with all MKs of the SE5...!!!
Superbes avions ! Dommage qu'on ait pas affiché les noms quand ils atterrissent.
how many of these are replicas and real planes?
Miss SE5a
BTW... none of these WW1 aircraft have ever flown to their limits as they would have in mortal combat... the rotary powered craft were capable of such astounding departures from straight and level that would boggle the mind...!!! Thats why the SPAD was the answer to dog fighting the Triplanes... hit and run ,turn and repeat and always keep your airspeed high...don’t slow down and turn with the enemy...!!! However these max performance maneuvers would strain the planes to the edge of destruction... and you cant afford that kind of flight demonstrations unless you have beaucoup $$$ and spare planes you wish to sacrifice...!!!
My observation is that the Nieuport 28 was one of the most awesome fighters in the allied side because of its maneuverability and its capacity for very high speeds...!!! If only the engineers had done a better job of building a stronger airfoil . There is no excuse for the leading edge to physically collapse and break off ...!!! If the 28 had been structurally reliable ...then possibly the AMERICANS would have never resorted to the SPAD...!!!
awesome display of reproduction ww1 aircraft
It's too bad there aren't any Gothas or Handeley Page bombers!
I love that fokker 8.
The 1 plane i want to fly, paint it to look like a wasp.
Oh sweet dreams...
Fokker DVII is my Favorite!
And Paths of Hate too 😏
Does anyone know what the parasol monoplane was?
Fokker D.VIII
What's is plane in 1:28 minute?
Pfalz D.III replica. This aircraft was one of the ones built in the 1960's for the motion picture 'The Blue Max'.
Why do german planes always look better
