This is very interesting because I do this with my daughter now currently at home I just basically play school like I’m the teacher because I am… And I’m teaching her how to do things whether it’s clean up her room, learning patterns, puzzles, pretend play, folding clothes, taking a bath, etc.… I also use sound therapy and I take her to the beach a lot because she love it and they really do love dinosaurs. I took her to her dinosaur park for her birthday and she had a blast.💗💗💗 thank you for all that you do for the community.💗💗💗🙏🏾
It's my 7th month as a BT and I've come across your videos on your ABA/BT & RBT journey and I appreciate them. They've been helpful to me as I am learning and new to this field. So far, I am loving the job; I am currently also taking the course to get certified as an RBT! Your videos are so helpful.I recently started in home ABA therapy for my 4yr old daughter. Thanks for the insight inside the life of a RBT. My daughter is starting to like spending time with her RBT and we are just a couple sessions in.
I'm a QMHP looking to cross into ABA and this is so helpful for my sessions with my kiddos with ADHD. I love the "work for the reward" system. I've been struggling to keep him on tasks and we're starting reading lessons next week! This video was right on time. I'm definitely going to increase my toy and educational tool kits

Tomorrow is my first day in a home session I am super nervous! Would you recommend pairing the entire session since the client is on baseline and it is my first time meeting him and vice versa vs pairing and then doing programs on the first day?

By the way, do you buy all the tools and toys for the therapy sessions for your clients or do the parents do that? Just curious about that because it seems that the sessions need to be very engaging and activities need to be changing constantly. I also noticed that your client's tool box was quite full. Thank you so much for your kind words! To answer your question yes I do buy a lot of clients activities but he does have some his parents have purchased too! So together we have activities to last our 5 hours sessions. You’re correct, you need to definitely have enough activities to keep them engaged. This can be challenging at times but little by little your collection of toys will grow and it will be a piece of cake! 💖
@@ABASource That's good to know that the parents chip in to buy the toys. They must be very supportive of their son and also you as a therapist which makes the whole process even more worth it. Success! :)

My son is currently taking ABA but I feel like she’s literally coming to my house unprepared like she doesn’t even know what to work on with my son

i was offered a job like this but im scared cuz, im a dsp for teens and adults my age which is 24 and we all pretty much get along with them but kids i never worked with im scared of the mother is gonna talk shit to me or something or get fired cuz parents dont like me or something,

I am ABS behavior therapist and I just started in home based therapy in April.. but wow your sessions with that particular client is for 5hrs. I had a client that I was with him for 3hrs everyday and Saturdays . But I would love that lol. N actually my 1st client Jose he's 5yrs n he e njoys my praises n he likes to repeat some of my praises too lol like for instance I would say "Go Jose" n he would repeat n say "Go Ms.. Marjorie" he's spoken cute 😍 😊😊😊😊

I was just about to asks this. I’ve been in clinic for 2 years now and Monday is my first day going in-home I’m so nervous and have no idea what to expect.
My little one always say “hey sit down!” Because focusing for table time has been difficult and I need to remind him. 😆
As an ABA Dad. If the the aba person don't fit, get another one. this is not a team sport. Your child has to pair with them and like them. I would say if pairing didn't work, nothing is better than something. Also. listen to what they are doing. Sometimes your kid needs a hug. I usually try to get out of their way and let them focus on their work, but I listen. learn their methods. don't get fucked. Lots of unethical people out there.
Yes , unfortunately there are. I’d do the same if were a parent. I’m glad to hear you try your best to let the therapist work while keeping an attentive ear though! ☺️ hope your child has found a great therapist!

Hello Anna, I find that many RBT positions on indeed are looking for you to have experience working with children with disabilities. Any suggestions on how to gain experience before getting your license. I already graduated HS so I can’t do best buddies lol.
There are plenty of positions available! I just got my 40 hour training done and have zero child experience and I’m still getting offers/interviews. It’s all about how you market yourself on your resume! Many companies will hire you with a HS diploma and train you. Good luck!

@@lovinsasha Also what about the background check. On the BCBA website in the RBT handbook it says you need to get a background check prior to the 40hr training.
What kind of background check should I get done? I live in Maryland in the states.
@@donashia6091 I'm also in MD and recently got hired in an ABA company in DC. They did a criminal background check for us.

I have an ABA therapist that I feel that comes unprepared to my house . It’s like your going to war without your equipment it takes a lot to find the right ABA therapist any advice ? She’s a nice person don’t get me wrong it’s just the lack of preparation

Catalyst, but keep in mind I use it because it’s what my agency wants and it’s set up through them. Every agency is different, not long ago I was taking data on paper :)

How long did it take for you to get hired at an agency as an RBT? Most of the agencies require a Medicaid number or aba experience (which I don’t have). It’s so frustrating 🥺 I passed my exam 2 weeks ago
Don’t be discouraged keep looking there are agencies that are okay with training those new to the field too!
Hi my children are going to start ABA services within several months. My kids play sports. My question is do they have to give up sports for ABA services. Due to having services every day out of the week from 4-7pm? If anyone can answer my question please
Hi, they don’t have to give up anything you don’t want them to. You tell your schedule to your clinic/agency and they try to work with you. Just keep in mind that ABA is a commitment and will only work with consistency. So I’d say make sure this is something you are committed too before starting.
Why do you want your children to get ABA? Have you informed yourself about all sides of the topic? What has made you decide for it?

RBTs are certified and ABAs have a degree in the area
