Well boys judging from the hoist there I would say that had to be an old escape way, dont know the mine, but I would say it has been down a long time. Whats crazyer is riding up that shaft in a 3 foot wide capsule
That is so cool… the mine shaft itself…. Seen it in person… verifying the can am crew… and scary at the same time…. Wish they would cover that thing before someone falls in and ends the trail riding down there…IMO…
Wow, I'm amazed that shaft isn't capped off more securely than it is. Those iron railings look pretty feeble, I can just imagine some fool doing a selfie stood on the wrong side of the rails and, well you know the rest! Wouldn't a drone be an easier option than the cable camera? I wouldn't have thought there'd be any air turbulence if the bottom is full of water?
Good suggestion, will put something together for the channel. In the meantime, we are a group out of Eastern NC that enjoys WV (into VA/KY) riding frequently. Thanks for watching!
We tried to but it would wrap the end of the cable up and wouldn’t have been able to have a feed on the way down. It got to be pretty heavy but wasn’t too bad.
Where exactly is this located? I’ve been trying to find it and I can’t seem to figure out where it is. And also, I’m looking for the big ventilation fans. You guys went in as well.
If you have a BOB t maps find coal lake and the pineville horses. It’s up in that area. I have a video on the fans posted as well and they are about 5 mins from this shaft.
gopro doesn't do well in low light. thought about rigging lights with it, but then realized had camera and cable real long enough, and would also probably lower more stable than with twine or string. thanks for watching!
@@QuitNTimeAdventures If it’s around Pineville, WV, I’d say the shaft leads to an old mined out section of US Steel’s mine (now Cleveland Cliffs) that is in the Pocahontas 4 seam. It is a HUGE long wall mine!!!!
Cool information. Interested in learning more. We also went to the fans (will be in another video), so if you know anything about those, please share. The "Adventure" part isn't just the riding, but exploring and learning about the areas. And, thanks for watching!!
Thanks for sharing always wondered what it looked like down there.
Glad you enjoyed it
Gotta love WV God bless em.
Yes, we love it up there
M-80's, cherry bombs. Need a fuse of 8 seconds or so.
Behind the ballfields at Pinnacle Creek I’ve been there. I was born and raised there.
Great area to see and explore.
Great video, I watched the can-am crew one a few weeks ago, that thing is deep
Oh yeah definitely don’t wanna fall in that hole!
get a waterproof camera and go till it hits bottom.
Yep, that would be the next thing for someone to do. See how much deeper it is, and what more is down there. Thanks for watching!
Jump straight down with a go pro!
@@QuitNTimeAdventures do it
Awesome, love it!
Glad you like it!
Very cool Cadin. I really like this video.
Glad you liked it
I don't think I'd lean against that rusty ass railing.
Yeah it was scetchy. I shook on it real hard when we first got there it was actually still pretty solid.

I’m sure it’s not fun!
If you could fill it with water (divert a creek) it would certainly help the local water table.
Pump it out and explore
Wonder how much deeper the shaft is. Thanks for watching.

Definitely a deep hole and don’t wanna fall in!

@@phils2180 I flew drone down alittle. Think it would get unstable with loss of satellite connection.
Railings were actually pretty solid it seemed
Good stuff! It would be cool to ride with you sometime. You guys know all the good spots
Not a bad idea - something to think about doing sometime with subscribers.
The tunnel cam, looked like the moon for a second....
😂
Now that you say that ... can see it, too.
@@QuitNTimeAdventures It's got me wondering....!!
Use a mirror off the sun to look down deep holes.
Good info... thanks for watching!
For those of us not from WV, what is the "what, where, why and how of your adventure? Needs an explanation.
Good suggestion, will put something together for the channel. In the meantime, we are a group out of Eastern NC that enjoys WV (into VA/KY) riding frequently. Thanks for watching!
I presume airshaft, and why. Would the top be left open?
Not sure could be dangerous. I think they have closed it off now.
I bet even a thin cable, 700 feet long gets heavy. did you use a drum or winch of some kind?
We tried to but it would wrap the end of the cable up and wouldn’t have been able to have a feed on the way down. It got to be pretty heavy but wasn’t too bad.

@@QuitNTimeAdventures thanks also, do you think you guys will send a camera down the other shaft where the fans are
Be cool to have some context or even a little history of that shaft?
Yes it would. Thanks for watching!
some twine and a gopro might of been easyer

where is this location?
It’s kind of out by coal lake and the pineville horses.

Looks like it had a purpose? But what?
It is an old mine rescue shaft that would tie into a coal mine in the area. Thanks for watching!
Camera needs stabilization. The camera spinning around can cause disorientation and nausea. Unpleasant experience.
That was a challenge, yes!
