    By far the best video thank you for filling my brain with all that knowledge I just bought my 1st stand up Jetski and your video really helped me to understand the entire system thank you.

    I just picked up my first stand up, a js440. Being a noob and knowing nothing about cooling systems, this was extremely helpful. THANK YOU!

    Thank you for breaking it down for someone that is brand new to stand-up skis.

    Thank you Brad for the great explanation. I am considering a 1985 JS550 purchase and wanted to know more about the engine/cooling before getting stuck in a new project. Kudos!

    i’m setting up my 87 js550 for dual cooling with a west coast full pipe and i wasn’t sure about having 2 different hoses coming out of the head opposed to the stock design of having 1 hose come out of the head and connect to the rest of the pipe

      That's a very good question. I would keep it as a single but you can make it a double. There are various ways of doing this but it's totally up to you. If I was to do a double head water hose I would do one to the upper down pipe and the other to the lower down pipe. Hopefully that makes since.

    If you want to skip to just the routing, start watching at 7:10 and you'll be done in 20 seconds.

    You have input on best way to flush saltwater with the stock exhaust / no hoe hook up situation…. I’m thinking cattle trough big enough to immerse… heard negative reviews on forcing water up the intake

    • @brads3111
      @brads3111  5 месяцев назад

      @dansullivan2293 for saltwater you need "starbrite descaling engine flush" and if you watch the video you will see a extended black line I have always used for flushing.
      Outside of that just coat the engine each time with wd-40 or some other hydrophobic marine grade engine protection.

    Kind of old klipp but the water enters the engine bay along the port side, left. By overpreasure from the impeller.
    On the right side water from the bilge/button of the enginebay, underneath the ignitionbox, is being sucked out from the impellerhousing!

    you can add a T ,but for every T or line that you add you are adding water resistance. i would plug that extra hole with a little plug form ace hardware or true value and run a single line. its just more simpler and you will have less chance of failure.

    where about in the system can you add in the hose fitting so you can flush out after rides

    My after market mani is set up for dual cooling, do I just run a T off the main water line and hook it o the two inlets on the mani ? Probably a stupid question

    do the water boxes get pretty hot? I found a hole right beneath the water box, and after taking the gas tank out, it’s pretty evident that the aftermarket water box sitting directly on the hill, burned through/melted the hull thanks for this video btw, I learned a few things

    • @brads3111
      @brads3111  5 лет назад

      The box should never get hot. Maybe warm to the touch but not hot. You have a water flow problem.

    • @jasonpearson1555

      brads3111 ay thank you, ima check the water hose, you said they can get clogged. But what if it’s not clogged? That would indicate a more severe problem?

    • @brads3111
      @brads3111  5 лет назад

      @@jasonpearson1555 its clogged somewhere. Take off the hoses and blow with your mouth. That will give a good idea where its clogged. Hardware shops have the brass fittings for the water flow. And go bug on the fittings so the water flows good.

    Hi man! I have an sx 750 of 92' and the water is not coming out from the pisser. You think i should check the pump hose first? How should i start fixing this thing an what may be the cause of the problem? The exhaust seems that is filling with water but no water coming out..
    Thnx!

    • @brads3111
      @brads3111  10 лет назад

      Start with the more simple lines. Basically start at the front of the ski and work towards to rear. If that doesnt work the last step is checking the flow throught the engine. More than likely its not in the engine. Take your time and be thorough. My guess is a clog from the pump line. Keep me informed. Goodluck

    should there be a constant flow of water out of the pisser on a '91 550sx?

    • @brads3111
      @brads3111  11 лет назад

      yes there should be but its also related to pressure by the pump. If the engine is idling than dont expect alot, but if your crusing lets say 20mph then yes it should be flowing pretty good. Is there no water coming out? is there very little at full throttle?. Then you need to start checking your lines from the jet pump. usually its sand and other organic debris. Use a clothing hanger. if your using air pressure be careful and dont exceed 15lbs. This could take a while just to let you know. 90% of the time the cooling system isnt clogged in the engine. its some where else. Feel free to ask any questions

    that kerker pipe, or most any aftermarket pipe with a head pipe and expansion chamber are shorter than the newer oem Jet Power exhaust, but are an improvement on the older oem exhaust. shorter pipe, higher rpm. longer pipe, low end. the best set up for low end is the Jet power mani and head pipe, with a half pipe set up like coffmans or Factory. it will give you better performance all around the power curve with increased low end. if you get a chance to get jet power / half pipe on the cheap, give it a shot
