Being an interior designer myself. I can't believe how creative you are so effortlessly. You deserve all this success and more buddy! Wishing you a great design journey. You are sooo inspiring !
i’ll be using pole wrap on my vintage dresser! modernizing it significantly and it will be a ton of work for us but it is solid wood, oak i think, and i’m doing pole wrap horizontally on drawer fronts and sides to create one piece flow look
Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included ruclips.net/user/postUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.
Drew can’t go wrong. The man is a genius. The painted piece looks like a built in and this one has cozy vibes. They’re both stunning! Amazing work, Drew.
I think this is a great starter piece for someone who is learning to DIY. It looks great and even if all someone did was replacing the back it just adds so much to the bookcase. I hope to see you use more of that wrap material in the future and see what you come up with. Maybe a tall standing plant stand with that wrap in an oval or triangle shape? Or a headboard would be neat too.
@@WrenMcNally thanks for helping me out. Yes, it‘s possible to rent them. But financial not worth it. At the end, this shelf will cost way more than a new fancy non-Ikea shelf. DIY is only worth it if you do a lot of projects or if you work with materials and tools you‘ve got already on hands. In my opinion.
This is the best hack ever. I love the natural wood look as much as the one you painted. I’m going to try this technique with the Billy that is half the height of these, putting two together and doing a console cabinet. Thank you for the inspiration!!!!!!!
So happy you decided to recreate this beautiful project for us! A little hack to help hold any bracket/hanger/hook/etc. in place on basically anything: use a dab of hot glue to keep them in place until you are able to place the screws in 😉! It’s a great way to ensure everything is straight & level. Thank you for sharing all the details Drew! Have a wonderful & Blessed week ahead 🤗💜🙏🏻!

Congrats on never giving up and always continually innovating DIYs. I am just going to say that I wish I had your eye for design and a 1/10th of your talent. You never fail to provide such great project ideas and beauty.
Drew, thank you SO MUCH for sharing the step-by-step how-to on this beautiful bookcase project! I loved the AD video so much and am so happy you took the time and effort to redo this project so we can see exactly how it's done. The bookcase is so chic, both in the painted version and in the natural wood version. I am seriously considering this project.
I love the final look but I feel that those sides are wasted space if they can't be used, especially in a small apartment, so the addition of magnets is a brilliant idea!
LOVE LOVE LOVE it in natural wood tone. So glad you left it as is. I thought the painted one turned out fantastic but this one is so warm, yet chic. You inspire so much beauty. Thank you!
You're sooo talented Drew!!! This video your voice was so gentle and calming. I've been watching you for years and love whatever you make. Sending you lots of love!
Loved the AD version, love the wood version even more. This is why I love Ikea hacks... it's so easy to customize and elevate it on a budget!! A stunning, one of a kind(or I guess now it's two of a kind..) piece!

I love this so much! I think you missed including how you did the base with the pole wrap. But overall you made me feel like I could do this. So so good!
My thought too. Put an (unbacked)area rug, towels etc. umder a piece while working on top of wood floors as padding. Ikea even shows to do this in their instructions. Use the padding to drag the piece into place, or better yet, use furniture glides.
I loved the original AD video! I would never have guessed that that was a Billy bookcase. It looks like a piece that costs well over a $1000. Genius Drew!
Drew as always you did an amazing job! The Billy bookcase came out stunning. I really really love your home style.Thank you for sharing with us your amazing ideas. Have a wonderful and Blessed rest of your Sunday night.🕊🙏👏👏👏🙏🕊
Great idea for cool look. I do have one suggestion beside the awesome magnetic "door" idea. Put the top piece closer or flush with top to minimize dust collection.
Was blown away the 1st time I saw it & still am! It's just a fantastic piece & really doesn't look that difficult to make. I'm sure putting the shelve together the roughest part! lol Love the art deco look!!

Drew, how in the world do you know how to do these things. It boggles my mind. And everything you do turns out absolutely beautiful. You are truly an artist extraordinaire. Sending love, Lynnie
What a great project. I love the idea with the magnets because I was thinking the whole time, "What about that wasted space?" I had this idea: What if you had an open shelving unit (an etagere) where the shelves stuck out on both ends. Take those shelves and cut each end into a semicircle. Then wrap the pole-wrap around the ends. The result would look the same as your project, but you'd have more space inside the unit.

There are so many hacks of the Billy bookcase but this one really pushes the limits of creativity, what a great project!
Pole wrap on the very bottom and the in the back of the shelves really finishes the piece. Looks soooo good. Billy never looked so good, haha.
Yes!! I also realized I never shared me adding that small strip to that section! I totally forgot to add in the footage
