It's pretty true, though. And a funny way to put it. Some designers are dead set on certain things and some designs can't have certain things changed without major changes.
Well this looks like fun. For a time the TEC-9 was one of my favorite plinking guns. Mine always ran everything I put in it perfectly. They just need a little bit of tuning to remain extremely reliable. Factory magazines are important, and using the magazine as a grip will cause a malfunction. The most critical element is the extractor. It's retained by a set screw, and must be set at exactly the right spot to firmly retain the empty case for ejection. This is very easily accomplish by setting it to the rim of a cartridge. It's also important to make sure the claw is sharp and square and it has good tension. Recoil and striker springs need to be replaced every several thousand rounds. This is often overlooked generally. With factory magazines, good springs, and a properly adjusted extractor it should be monotonously reliable. It also helps to have decent sights. I put an M1 Carbine rear sight on mine and made an Uzi style front sight that bolts in the shroud. It actually delivers excellent accuracy once it shoots to the sights. Pretty miserable long squishy heavy trigger, but it can be managed.
👌🏼thanks for showing mark and Toby. Can’t believe it’s taken RUclips over 20 hours to notify me 😂 I’ve been waiting day and night for Serbu notifications!
I had one back in the early 90’s before the ban. It had two 30 round magazines. It was stolen. The mags when loaded past 20 would fail to feed. Now that there’s a drum I may replace it. Or build it better. Balanced.
As a gun enthusiastic with a MS and BS in Mechanical engineering, I too, watched through the breakdown and barrel swap portion with fascination and no skip.
just found about 30 super carry 8 months ago and i love the numbers as compared to other similar carry rounds such as 380 32 and 9m it excells at everything and gives more capacity. a tec9 in 30 super carry i have a tec nine pre ban from 1984 and it is fun . good job guys
I remember the original TEC 9 in the early 90s. Every once in while I still come across one. This guy has an interesting idea with this version and I’d be a potential customer
I have a suggestion, if the length of the bolt will allow. The bottom of the bolt should be cut to an f/a cut AR-15 bolt carrier group pattern and modify the lower to be compatible with AR-15 triggers. If those modifications were possible that would make it much more marketable.
AR15 triggers are THICK. as in tall. it would raise the bore which is not good for recoil, etc. This low profile trigger mechanism fits MUCH better. sol Invictus arms tried that with the TAC-9.... i did not end well.
Finally, someone is updating the tec-9. Hopefully to something more durable and reliable. I like it! Let us know if he finds a manufacturer to produce it.
That Schindler's List clip was perfectly placed. LOL. That pistol design is for 30SC. Personally I think 30SC was dead on arrival but maybe projects like this will turn things around for the cartridge.
So cool. Not exactly what I was thinking for 30sc subguns (my thought was scaled down guns) but likely a better take on things. Thanks for bringing us this.
The power of the round is nearly identical to 9mm. So you will not see a scaling down of the guns.... ONLY the magazines (or increase in capacity). you still need the same mechanisms/weights as any other 9mm to function well.
'Yeah, take that load...I should edit that out.' also, if the Hughes Amendment never happened a TEC-9 open bolt SMG in 30 super carry would probably be a ton of fun.
That is so cool, 30 super just added a whole new level of awesome to it, I wish I could buy this in my local. In full auto that thing would be beautiful to shoot even though its a blowback.
I've always thought Keltec was crazy for not keeping the Tec 9 around, dead simple gun and now with PCC's flying off shelves for like ten years and counting they might as well just be throwing money in the trash not making them anymore. An updated lower that doesn't break and a few threaded holes to mount rails and a brace and the Tec would probably be the longest lived and most popular PCC on the market. I mean I know they probably just shitcanned them and ate the loss after the most well known picture of it ever was from Columbine, but still at its core it's an all around good design for a straight blowback tube gun that came in at a good price. The Sub2k kinda fills the same role but can't compete in the stockless or braced mini PCC game with all the Scorpions, Stribogs, MPX's, etc.
I think 30 super carry is the ideal smg cartridge Its smaller than 9mm so you can fit more rounds in the same size magazine and the round max pressure is 50k psi so you should be able to make a gas system with it
Thanks for letting me come over and show you my project! I had a blast. (literal and figurative).

There’s very few men/engineers of your caliber out there, that aren’t wasting their time on Space. Hmm maybe attempt a gun that could work in space for the Space Force contract! 🖕🏿 Sig 🤣
Nice simple design, would be awesome SBR'd with a stock and FA availability.
A full auto pistol in .30 super carry would be a blast. For the nest iteration, take a good look at the Spectre M4.
I wish RUclips would allow more educational content like marks to go further. This is really cool stuff and makes engineering and science fun. It's also very old knowledge at this point.
You created the Tec-9 from GTA5 in real life
Mark, I have a dad joke for you. What do you call a group of two crows?
An attempted murder.
I once saw two crows yapping at each other from both sodes of a parking lot. I bet they were plotting a murder
This is the best iteration / variant of the tech-9 great work!!
i was going down my YT feed when I seen this cursed bastard and paused.. and had to think of how my life choices lead to me seeing this goddam monster of a gun 💀
30 supper or 32acp? I'll take the 9mm
How about........ .25 super carry? That's what I been looking for.....
Yes! Or .25 Magnum or whatever you'd want to call it.
0:09 that’s my ring tone. This just ruined my brain for a second
I couldn't focus on the video because I was too busy looking for demonic sigils.
Only dark magic could conjure a SECOND nerd that quickly!!
In all seriousness, great job on the video boys! She's a beautiful little pistol.
And yea people smack talk Kel-Tec, but i have a good feeling those same people never shot one... nor do they go shooting in places that might ruin their fancy EDC with all the expensive junk stuck on it.
I mean shit, you wouldn't wear a tuxedo to go mudding. That doesn't mean you won't ever play in the mud!! Cheap guns deserve love too!
🤣@6:53 that "your problem" made me laugh🤣
It's pretty true, though. And a funny way to put it. Some designers are dead set on certain things and some designs can't have certain things changed without major changes.
SECOND
They’re flagging each other more than a football game 😂
Super cool video. Thanks for sharing!
I found the same especially running smg spec 9mm
👌🏼thanks for showing mark and Toby. Can’t believe it’s taken RUclips over 20 hours to notify me 😂 I’ve been waiting day and night for Serbu notifications!
I had one back in the early 90’s before the ban. It had two 30 round magazines. It was stolen. The mags when loaded past 20 would fail to feed. Now that there’s a drum I may replace it. Or build it better. Balanced.
What a neat piece. I really like that rebirth of the coffin ⚰️ mag. Lots of capacity in a small footprint. Great stuff.
As a gun enthusiastic with a MS and BS in Mechanical engineering, I too, watched through the breakdown and barrel swap portion with fascination and no skip.
Great video review. Thanks.
👍😎
just found about 30 super carry 8 months ago and i love the numbers as compared to other similar carry rounds such as 380 32 and 9m it excells at everything and gives more capacity. a tec9 in 30 super carry i have a tec nine pre ban from 1984 and it is fun . good job guys
Ha!
“Make me a hinge.”
Cool Schindler reference!
I remember the original TEC 9 in the early 90s. Every once in while I still come across one. This guy has an interesting idea with this version and I’d be a potential customer
Tell him his print settings are immaculate.
Proof that the original American Made Iconic Tec-9 is still the dopest assault pistol ever made.
The Schindlers list jokes had me crackin up! Lol
I would take one in 9. The mag compatibility was a great feature
yes sir ! I love your TEC-9 redesign in 30 super carry !
It look's like a ton of fun I really hope it goes into production 🙏🏻
You had me at interesting! Now take my money!!
That's Awesome! I have a Tec-9 & I really like your new that take on it.
Verry nice! Keep up the great work guys!
'Yeah, take that load...I should edit that out.'
also, if the Hughes Amendment never happened a TEC-9 open bolt SMG in 30 super carry would probably be a ton of fun.
What a nice piece to add to the collection!
That is so cool, 30 super just added a whole new level of awesome to it, I wish I could buy this in my local. In full auto that thing would be beautiful to shoot even though its a blowback.
This thing looks like something I'd draw when I was a kid I love the tec 9 style of guns
I think 30 super carry is the ideal smg cartridge
Its smaller than 9mm so you can fit more rounds in the same size magazine and the round max pressure is 50k psi so you should be able to make a gas system with it
