This video is inspired by the Fallout game series in light of the awesome new Prime series! The Fallout series (specifically Fallout 3) has been at the top of my favourites list since its release. I remember renting it from Blockbuster (lol Blockbuster, good times) and spending the entire weekend playing through the whole game. I was absolutely obsessed with the world that was created (thanks to inspiration from the original 2 games, no doubt). Everything from The Wasterland and post apocalyptic societies to the retro aesthetic and vintage jazz music. This video is intentionally made to capture the essence of Fallout 3 and the way Inon Zur's music compliments with sparse thematic elements that fill the vast emptiness of The Wasteland in an unforgettable sound. Pair that with radioactive wind and old radio music and you've got yourself the essence of the Fallout series.

Never played Fallout nor seen the show. But sounds very cool. Actually reminds me of Man in the High Castle, those piano chords and the old radio playing in the background. Nice juxtaposition of sounds. Love the variety of music you create.

Thanks! I would have loved to use the actual jazz music from the games but they are all copyrighted pieces of music. The ones in this video are all public domain so they are free to use.

awesome! i love the moving sand/dust effect. is there a particular software you use to create these kinds of visual effects?
Thanks! I use a combination of Apple Motion and video overlays. In this case, the FX on the ground are 2 video overlays, one of rolling ground fog, and the other of slowly moving dust particles. Mixed together it gives a good dusty wasteland vibe :)

Ya I hadn’t heard of Apple Motion until like half a year ago. Basically After Effects, slightly less advanced, one time purchase, and I use MAC so it’s nice using software optimized for my system :)@@dog0fman

As amazing as this is, I think it has even more potential. I'm sure you're familiar with THE KLF - Chill Out album. For me this started like an incredible ear orgasm, and the atmosphere you created was spectacular, but within 15 mins the added background stuff just got too repetitive. I really wish you would go through 5-8 mins of just music without those sounds, make the listener miss them and then would bring them back. Also, some train sounds or horse and buggy sounds would've been really awesome for transition between those background stuff; and I'm not a familiar with the fallout, so not sure would've fit with the theme, but just as a musical journey, this could've been a master piece for the ages and I'd still encourage you to explore these ideas.

Thanks for all the feedback and ideas! This video is definitely specific to how it feels if you were standing in front of a bar in the wasteland of the actual games. That being said, I agree with what you've suggested in terms of an ambient experience :) I'll keep those in mind for future videos!
Is this 3d environment art, ai, digital painting, a mix, or something else? I'm super interested in your art process and would love to know more! (big fan of your stuff btw)
Hey thanks! I generate my images with Midjourney and then use a variety of visual FX and overlays to animate the scene. I usually come up with the concept of what I want first (sometimes very specifically) and generate to get what's in my head. Generated art can sometimes be better or worse depending on what I'm trying to achieve and sometimes I have to get very specific. While I don't claim to be a digital artist (in terms of visual artwork), I definitely consider myself a creator of worlds, environments and stories :)

Will there be a version of this without the background radio music? I really like it, but I find the competing tunes a bit jarring. I can see how others would like it though.
That’s fair! This video was intentionally made to mimick the audio in the Fallout games when you are out in the wasteland and hear both old jazz radio and the in game music. I’ll probably do more Fallout themed videos though that will be similar and won’t have the radio music :)
@@Futurescapes-SciFiAmbience I did like the radio music at first, but it got hard to listen to after a while. In the wasteland, the radio music comes and goes (like the eyebot) and isn't there all the time. Maybe this would be something to try in future?
