  • Hidden away in the desolate plains lies a forgotten ghost town, once a bustling community built around a thriving oil industry. This ranching town, with a population of ten in the 1870s, grew rapidly after the discovery of oil in 1940. The Sun Oil Company erected 59 wells and a host of essential infrastructure, from churches to cafes, to cater to the growing population of 1,000 people. Even a state-of-the-art school, worth $1 million was built, (21,488,571 in todays money) with investors expecting a massive influx of students. But the oil boom didn't last, and by the mid-1960s, most of the wells were closed, and the employees relocated. Today, only the abandoned Baptist Church stands, its walls slowly being reclaimed by nature and its pews now occupied by rodents, birds, and dozens of bats. Join us as we explore the forgotten history of this once-thriving community, and uncover the secrets that lie hidden in its ruins.
