I am not sure popularity was the issue but poor marketing/early critics calling it a pokemon clone. Releasing at a point where rpgs were everywhere. This is my 2nd favorite RPG series. Dont give up hope the sales lately on the 1st 2 games haves gone up drastically in resale. Now the kids have grown up that played the game originally. Nintendo values its IPs in this way. They still own the rights. We could see releases and a sequel down the road.
I JUST did this boss fight King Dynal, fighting for what little of his species remains, and you as the player, fighting for Earth and all of humanity... Both fighting for their own kind... Quite literally a fight to the death on a catastrophic scale It's all cartoony and cute on the surface But you get to chapter 8 and it's literally "you and this alien race who are nearly extinct are both fighting to the death. Whoever loses will end up being the victims of genocide"... And the desperation, the savagery, the world/species/culture ending weight is so well captured in this... Fight, or die. Whoever wins, the fate of the other lies in your hands.
This guy isnt joking. This remix is like you peeled off a cloudy layer of plastic to reveal the true song underneath. This is how I remember the song , even though it wasn't as high quality as this. Thank you for stirring up those happy memories

Ive played this series since release (except frontier because i couldn’t bring myself to keep playing after 30 minutes) and i never knew how big our community was since i reinvested myself in it recently. fuckin amazing

This is incredible! Really captures the emotions that old DS software can’t really fulfill. (Not that the DS Version was bad at all.) Kinda wish there were more of the sudden drums and the beginning, and that eerie sound effect. But for the main part of the track, excellent job!

Duna would work really well for Smash too, and her Battle Form is only about 11-12ft. according to in-game data.

Somebody in the comments for the unremixed theme (FF OST: Dynal Battle Theme - Dina the Fossil Fighter) said to speed up the vid to 1.75 times, and it sounded pretty good there so I came to try it here. Sounds like a chase scene
My god... the memories of fighting dynal to end thing only for raptor (forgive me if that isn’t his name it’s been a while since I played FF) to activate the main idolcom was such a fun experience. The theme of this never really left my head since.
My idea for Dynal as a fighter for a hypothetical Super Smash Bros. 6: Special Attack (B): Royal Fang (bites the opponent) Up + B: Regal Combo (a spinning attack, similar to Bowser’s Up + B) Side + B: Imperial Wrath (spits venom at his opponents, can be charged similar to Squirtle’s Side + B) Down + B: Rex Roar (powers himself up and blows away opponents by roaring) Final Smash: Mass Extinction (an all-out attack using the dinaurians’ Team Skills: Dynal’s Antimatter Beam, Duna’s Sapphire Beam, and Raptin’s Positron Beam)
Forget how good this remix is (doesn't change much of what makes the original good, mainly makes relatively minor touches to bring out the full feeling of the original song), I'm just excited because this is the longest piece of music pertaining to Fossil Fighters on RUclips, and the only one of decent, let alone good, audio quality. FF4 taking in everything they learned from the first three games would be god tier, please don't go out on Frontier.
Honestly this theme needs a name other than just "Dynal Battle Theme". I mean just look at the names of other boss themes. "In The Final", "Adventure's End", "Megalovania", "Reincarnation of Light and Darkness", I could go on with great names for themes. I think a good name for this one would be "Fate of the Species". How does that sound?
