I could never fathom being in Brandi Smith's boots that day....for a period, she WAS KHOU Television in Houston. To me, a Canadian who watched that live stream that KHOU had up on Facebook that day, Brandi became Houston's News Reporter of the Year with her sheer guts to keep things going as best possible. I hope that she also got a huge bonus for giving the type of help that she did during that storm. To those of you at WFAA Television, I want to tell you that you're doing a great job in continuing to help out KHOU in the way that you are. I also hope that whatever kind of partnership that exists between you and KHOU can continue after they get back into their own space. Please keep that type of flame alive, because one day, KHOU may need to help you out too. =)
I have so much respect for WFAA since this. To me they are a TV powerhouse, they were so great in helping KHOU that day, I just happened to be watching that report with Brandi Smith just before the station went out. I couldn't believe that the weather was so severe that this could happen. What WFAA did was heroic, kind of like a brother or sister that comes and picks you up when your down and helps you along until you can do it on your own, which is what they did up until about a month ago when KHOU moved into their new studios on Westheimer. Ive been to Dallas several times since the storm for daughters volleyballs tournaments and WFAA is my go to station when we're there. They are just an A+ operation. Two other things that I like about WFAA is they are an ABC affiliate and the lovely Sonia Azad (former KTRK Houston reporter) is there as well.
That's what happened to the CBS affiliate in St Thomas WBNB TV it went off the air after its transmitter. Destroy by Hurricane Hugo on September 17th 1989 then it went came back on their owners Hendrick broadcasting check the license of the station into 1995 when lost the license to the station making it defunk
I remembered watching this live and wondering how this reporter would ever get to use the restroom because she was the ONLY reporter still left and she was broadcasting for a LONG time uninterrupted 🤣🤣
I remember watching y’all when KHOU went off air. Thank you so much for not hesitating to jumping in and helping our city in desperate times of need.

WELL DONE WFAA Dallas! I watched your coverage on Facebook LIve from here in Arizona when you went on the air after the flooding there in KHOU Studio
I love that WFAA being an ABC station and KHOU being a CBS station was not an issue when it came to these two stations working together.
WFAA ABC 8 / KDAF CW33 in Dallas - Ft. Worth & KHOU 11 CBS / CW39 HOUSTON KIAH
