Nicole has been criminally underrated for SO long. I felt like I could see her fire and passion for the stage on full display here. Huge congrats to her 🎉
yes, she has deserved this for so very long, leaving Masked Singer to do this has made everything fall into place and to end up with this role and now the Tony, she is getting some recognition that she so much deserves. Maybe more will come her way now...
Beyond thrilled that Nicole is finally getting her flowers. I’ll never forget discovering her rendition of Memory almost a DECADE ago. Been a huge fan of her musical theatre work ever since. For those who may not be familiar, I highly recommend looking up her performance of Don’t Cry For Me Argentina. Miss Scherzinger is a one of a kind talent and I’m ecstatic that she’s getting her time to shine.
@@rjbullen8932 I’m not saying she’s the only one who sung it well. Streisand arguably did that best but Nicole made me feel the need of the character to sing the song. There was a visceral connection to those words for Nicole and it elevated the song for me. I’ve always thought it was a pretty song. She made it hurt.
The way she sings Andrew Lloyd Webbers music makes me feel things that no other singer can do. I feel like I can feel the characters feelings, the desperation for that life again. And Andrew’s music is unmatched. I honestly don’t think I can properly convey how his music and Nicole’s performance makes me feel. It’s like magic
Nicole and I are friends. We met modeling in Louisville in the late 90’s, the moment we met she was singing in the line for an audition. I knew then this would be her life! So proud!!
Imagine possessing this caliber of artistic virtuosity, commanding a technically sophisticated vocal instrument that spans three to four octaves, embodying the rarefied status of a true triple-threat performer (actress, dancer, and television personality), and doing so with the physical allure of a beauty queen and the magnetism of a global pop icon. Then imagine being anointed by none other than Andrew Lloyd Webber-one of the most prolific, paradigm-defining composer-lyricists in the history of musical theatre-as the heir apparent to Broadway divahood, and yet still having to wait over a decade and a half since that prophetic introduction to finally ascend the stage in her own right. Fifteen years. And now, here she is. Crowned at last, not only with a role worthy of her gifts, but with the industry’s highest honor to affirm what many of us already knew. Were I in her position, I too would take all the time in the world to give reverence to God, and offer my deepest gratitude to every soul who walked with me along this journey. Nicole Scherzinger didn’t arrive late; she arrived right on time.
She did thank God first and gave glory to Him as she said that God was with her every step of the way . Her faith never wavered throughout her career, I prayed hard for her to win and she did Her story is at best inspirational and touching . Hoping more success comes her way !!
My goodness she's extraordinary! I cry like a baby every time I hear her rendition of this song. So much power and emotion. So glad she won that Tony. Well deserved.
Seen this show 5 times. One thing you don’t get out of this song about Nicole’s performance is how funny she is. I just adore her acting-full of pathos, humor, & humanity.
Twenty four years ago, I spent about an hour with Nicole, talking about tea and perfume! She was sooooooo lovely and kind. It was obvious to me then that Nicole would become much more than a Pussycat Doll; she was clearly special and outshined everyone in the dance troupe. This was the role she was born to play and I’m thrilled she won.
Andrew Lloyd Webber LOVES her. He’s chose her to sing “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” while HE played piano at a concert, years and years ago, and he had her sing in a performance with HIS favorite phantoms. I make a point to watch those videos at least 10 times a year. 😂
Yes, but she'd had a very legitimate career as a singer, mentor, and talent judge. This was simply the right opportunity at the right time and she took to incredible heights. @Chicago48
Yes, but she'd had a very good career as a singer, mentor, and talent judge. This was simply the right opportunity at the right time and she took it to incredible heights.
I remember being like 14 years old and thinking "she's not even that good a singer" when Nicole was in the Pussycat Dolls. Man, I was a dumb kid. lol Seriously, she deserves this Tony. She's been through so much in her career and it all shines through in the best way in her performance.
The fact that so many people out there just know this woman as one of the Pussycat Dolls and not as the incredible actress and singer she is makes me so sad. I hope EVERYONE sees this video at some point. Love her and this song so much
I was in the center of the first row to see this magnificent play. I have never been more blown away than by Nicole's performance. The win was so well deserved. So happy for her.
Here after i leaped to my screen watching her win the Tony. ❤ Amazing. There wasn’t anyone AT ALL more deserving than Nicole. SHE WAS THE MOMENT. Called from the beginning. It was hers to lose. ❤
Here's the thing about Nicole Scherzinger. I've never understood why she wasn't a huge star. She single-handedly made the Pussycat Dolls into a major pop sensation, and she has one of the best voices of the last couple of decades. But somehow, it just never worked out for her to be the solo star she was born to be. So I'm glad she's finally getting her props, and I hope this opens the doors for even more possibilities. She deserves to be among the biggest and brightest stars we have.
No one took her seriously. They saw her as a Pop stripper. And her solo work didn’t really show her vocal prowess like it should have. Hopefully now after all this time, she can finally shed that and be given the respect and appreciation she deserves.
Late bloomer here. I have only seen maybe 20 Broadway shows ever starting in 2003. "Wicked" was my first with the original cast. I saw "Sunset Blvd" this past Saturday, the day before the Tony's, because I had read so many great things about it. And I was blown away. Nicole was absolutely amazing and it would have been criminal had she not won. I'm sorry I can't make it back to NYC to see her again before the show ends.
To say I'm proud would be an understatement...I saw this girl in high school on Popstars making it in Eden's Crush (still love that album!), later as the lead of the PCD, and now a bona-fide Broadway Baby made Tony winner! Brava Nicole, Brava! 🩷
