  • How to replace your novoferm / novotron 502 / 512 remote control battery. Remote garage door controller battery replacement. Having no instructions I decided to try to work out how to change the batteries. When I finally managed it I thought to share on RUclips to help others in the same situation.
    Apparently the instructions seem to also apply to the Tormatic MAX 43-2 as advised by a viewer.
    My remote is the older 502/504 device and appears to be supplied as standard with 2 x CR2016 which when placed in series gives 2 x the 3v per cell so a 6v system.
    The newer 512 models - come standard with 1 x 2036. I would keep it standard.
    Just be aware 2016 and 2032 are both 3v cells. once you stack them you double the voltage.
    Please check which cell is fitted in yours and replace with the same to avoid any malfunction.
    Its not easy to visually identify the 502/504 models vs 512 so if when you open yours use the same cell as installed from the factory.
    Mike

    I thought the batteries needed replaced in my novoferm remote control, after nearly 4 years and over 5000 cycles of the door opening it simply had lost its pairing with the control box. After simply following the manual, 1 press of the function button and pressing the round button on the remote, it paired up Instantly. Thank you Michael as I was struggling to work out how to access the batteries.

    Apparently it will also take a single CR2032 as that was what was in mine when I opened it. Makes sense as a 2032 is just a double height 2016.

    • @michaeldawson6309
      @michaeldawson6309  Год назад +2

      Interesting. As per similar advice below by Dave who also noticed he could use a single double thickness CR2032. I have a question for Novofirm? How come some remotes have 2 x CR2016 in series which produces 2 x 3v whereas a single 3v CR2032 also works? Maybe there is a voltage regulator and the devices needs less than 3v? Interesting though. and thank you for sharing the knowledge :-) . It appears the model 502/504 uses 2 cells and the Newer 512 models use 1 x 2032. I would keep the replacement standard to what is fitted originally in your devices.

      I would replace the battery with what is standard for your model. The manufacturer has changed the design on the 512 models to use 1 cell not 2. 2 x 2016 is twice the voltage. Best keep things standard to how yours was supplied.

    Good to know, as I thought there were CR2032 inside (for whatever reason). Our original blue remote control becomes unreliable after about ten+ years. Also, the parts seemed to fit quite tightly, I did not even manage to separate them in a first attempt. Bad news, I have to go shopping for CR2016s. ;) PS: So good they switched to grey from the infamous blue-silver colour scheme.

    • @luketimothy
      @luketimothy Год назад +1

      You can just put a 2032 inside. That is what is in mine. 2032 and 2016 are compatible, same voltage just double/half thickness.

    • @lw7108
      @lw7108 Год назад

      @@luketimothy As long as it works... Although that would be half the voltage, 3V instead of 6V. I'd assume the performance to be best at 'design voltage'.

    • @luketimothy
      @luketimothy Год назад +1

      @@lw7108 good point, you’re right. It would be half the voltage. Perhaps resulting in a shorter range on the radio? Though in my experience the range I was getting was more than enough.

    • @michaeldawson6309
      @michaeldawson6309  9 месяцев назад

      If yours has 1 x 2032 it is most likely the 512 model not the older 502/504 So best keep using 1 cell at 3v as 2 x 2016 will give 2 x 3v = 6v because the cells in series doubles the voltage. @@luketimothy
