An often cited alternative for vintage Polo Green is Floris 1962. A personal favourite. Really lovely fragrance with the addition of mint. Certainly not sweet in the accepted sense, just a hint of clove and basil. Getting hard to find, but well worth it.

I love the classics. The modern ones I like are Dior eau Sauvage parfum. Sauvage elixir is good to. Has a classic like smell to it. And Tom Ford Beau de jour. I love that one
Imo the Bottega Veneta would be the best choice. However it could come off as a bit formal. I would recommend Calvin Klein Eternity for Men Eau de Parfum. It is very affordable and fairly long lasting. It is a very versatile scent and retains some of the green elements from Polo.
I think Quorum and Maxim’s pour homme lean towards Polo Green . It’s a difficult scent to change up or even compare , nothing is very close to it ... or similar ☝️great video
Polo Green - one of a kind and the ultimate masculine scent IMO. New fragrances these days just try to one up each other with dozens of strange notes. Not similar, but perhaps Azzaro Pour Homme is an alternative with that more mature vibe.
No joke...Dollar Tree's Luxury clone of Polo Green smells more like the original than the current formulation, imo. At least Quorum is relatively untouched...and @$15.00 a 100ml bottle. Good vid!👍

I agree. I bought the original fragrance mostly because I wore A LOT of Ralph back in the 80s. The fragrance ALWAYS gave me a headache, on myself or on others. I stopped wearing it.

The last few years a lot of men's fragrances have an ingredient that has a dry down smell of tar. Is it actually tar or what is that ingredient called? Also a lot of the all natural type soaps and lotion products started having a playdough type smell. What ingredient causes these all natural products smell like playdough?
Just wait for the new release coming up soon, probably this month or next month. Pretty sure it will be the same scent profile but definitely much smoother and of course better projection and longevity.
Bottega Veneta Pour Homme Extreme would definitely be my recommendation. Very much looking forward to your review of the new Polo flanker, Cologe Intense (edp). I'll be picking that one up for SURE. I think it's already availble at Ulta in the states. Super interested in how they 'modernized' the formula without listing a single note that made Polo iconic. Will it be completely different? Dying to find out.

But maybe these: Dior Farenheit Chanel Egoiste Cartier Declaration Now, in terms of Polo Green analogue, here are a few leaning that way: Floris Elite: A beautiful hybrid, essentially, of Polo Green and Creed Bois du Portugal. This is my favorite Floris and in my top 10 overall. Floris 1962: A much more understated and toned-down scent compared to Polo Green. But its green, classic-leaning, with mint.

Royal Oud or TF Oud are so great.They are sophisticated, masculine, all seasons, not sweet, and very easy to wear. Love them.
I think Rogue Perfumery has some options that he might like. Mousse Illuminee comes to mind for that green vibe.

They restored Polo back to smelling like the vintage. But you have to buy a 2019 or newer bottle. I'm so happy it smells great again

Noir Anthracite is the sexiest offering of TF IMHO, hands down.
