Soto N interesting. Yes I agree that history needs to be updated. It's sad that history gets to be written by the colonizers and that makes for a lot of innacuracies.
Cool! I'm Puerto Rican also and I have my DNA results: 23% Scandinavian, 5% Baltic,17% Iberian% , 13% Eastern Mediterranean, 12% Middle Eastern, 20% Native American, 10 % Sub-Saharan African.

Wow nice results. I have a Puerto Rican friend and she looks like a white girl with brunette hair, pale skin and she has freckles in her face. But she's very attractive and fit. Quick history lesson, most people in Puerto Rico are descendants of European immigrants. In other words, most Puerto Ricans are WHITES. It is not diversity what make anybody special!!! So stop with that gigantic LIE! There is not much diversity in Japan!!! And Japanese culture is special! There is very little diversity in many countries, whites, blacks countries....You are mixed, so talk about yourself!!! But don’t think you know more than the people in PR!!! The vast majority of people in PR said very loud and clear in the last census, they are white!!! Not a myth, just a reality!
In the rest of the world she is who she appears to be. But in the USA, among Anglo Americans and Afro Americans who insist on applying the one drop rule derived from slavery, she must deny that she is white. Otherwise they will call her a racist. In fact, if she claims Taino she will be called a racist. However, if she claims black then no one will attack.
You are so diverse ! Your ancestors basically came from everywhere. I like seeing those kind of results. I am not as diverse as you (28% Southeast Asian, 21% East Middle East/Africa North, 21% West African and East Central African, 24% West Europe and Southeast Europe, 2% Ashkenazi, 1% South Central Asia, 2% Oceania, 1% South Central Africa and 2% West Middle East.)I took a dna test with a different company, Family Tree DNA, the results are less precise, I wish I could do Ancestry to have more specific regions, especially for my European and Subsaharan African ancestry, but they don't ship to my country.
Very mixed person covers practically everywhere! I think it`s a rare to have a person with Northern and Southern European, Native American, Southern Asian, Pacific Islander, African, Scandinavian, British, Western European, Middle East, Ashkenazi Jewish..wow! Southern European is normally Portugal and Spain or Italy and Greece. You got all four!!!
Your results are so similar with my mom almost identical, She is really Moroveña also. My results are really different than even most Boricuas' results I have seen: 16% African (11%Senegal,North African,Nigeria, Ivory Coast/Ghana) 16% Native American 33%Italy/Greece 22%Ireland 9%Iberian Peninsula(So weird!) 1% Middle East 1%Melanesian
We the tainos are still here. They didn't get the job right or completed. Tainos are not Indians. Tainos are native. Big difference. Indians are from India. To be an Indian is not the same to be native. We are native.
Puerto Ricans aren't mixed because of the new world, but rather that Spain had already for centuries Celts, Scandinavians, Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Greeks, Jews, Noth Africans, among so many others. A new world addition would be Native American.
The South Asian comes from most likely Gypsies that also lived in Spain. My grandmother's side is mosty from Ponce P.R and all the sisters look Spanish Gypsy, and my grandma did have some south asian
Ahmed Gypsy King Adam That's so interesting that you say that. My paternal grandmother has always told me we have Gypsy ancestry and that side of my family is also from Ponce. Could we be related or is that common?
I think i found you if you have Rivera on there as your name. If so you are indeed related to me from my grandmother which has most family from Ponce (:
Great results, at first glance I could tell your Native American. And I agree, your the first 🇵🇷 I have seen with Asia south ancestry.. Thanks for sharing.. on my test results I had pacific island.. country was Melanesia.. that was a surprise for me..
Adry River .. yes thank you.. I didn't know anything of Melanesia prior to my testing.. after my results I looked into Melanesians history.. Interesting indeed.. Proud to carry some of that history with in me..
17% is not a lot and it is less than a 5th. usually Puerto ricans have 3% to 9% and it is usually lower then African ancestry. If you want more African in you all you need to do is get an Afro Puerto rican boyfriend or husband or Dominican or African or even Caribbean because the history of the Caribbean the Taino were wiped out which they were. Only a small percentage of Taino ancestry remains in Puerto rico genetic makeup and it is from the maternal side. Most Puerto ricans have more African DNA from 25% upward to 100%. It is not like Mexico where their are more then 30 Million full indigenous Native Amerindian people and most Mexicans have 40% to 100% Amerindian ancestry.
Hola chula, I did mine also and got a crazy big mix too.... In total I’m 74% Europeans, the largest being from Italy at 33%.... Then everything drops off too, Great Britain 8%, Ireland 7%, Spain 7% and other areas such as France and Russia but don’t remember what %..... then I got 16% from Africa which WOW blew my mind!! I was happily shocked !! ... 5%senegal, 5%North Africa, 3%benin,3% Nigeria!!!! I’m also 7% native which also made me very happy as I wasn’t expecting any!!! I’m 2% European Jewish & lastly I think if I remembered correctly Jajaja is 3% middle eastern !!! Sooooo wepaaaaaa que mezclaaaaa verdad :)
Natural Style I may look south Asian for the style of clothing I’m wearing , it’s called a shawar khameez... super pretty and cumfy !!! And nope not a troll ... but I am proud of my mixed heritage
Hello Adriana! I came across your video while looking for dna results videos like yours. Come to find out, we are 4-6 cousins. You resemble another cousin I/we have in common. My mother's side of the family are from Ciales and Manati. :)
Tony Lazania Hi Omg I am from Morovis and have Pagan also. In seaeching for my tree There is Pagan all over... early 1800s Pagan Colon, Torres Pagan, Pagan Torres, Rosario Pagan Most my side were in Barahona, Morovis, and some branches ended up in other Barrios.
The old world of North Africa and Western Europe makes sense from a historical perspective and of course Native American. You shouldn't be surprised about British/Irish history with all of the former British colonies in the carribean.
I think that the india part might indicate gypsy ancestry, since Spain, especially the south has a lot of Roma-Spanish dependent populations. Flamenco, Fandagos De Huelva, Sevillanas, Bulerias etc are all inspired by gitanos where Andalucia is the main haven for this music and culture. There is also a town called Paterna De Rivera in Cadiz region. My surname is Rivera Molina so it gets interesting to know that.
Hi Anthony. I have a lot of videos that explain a lot of things on how to get started and other tips to Puerto Rican geneolgy on my channel. Have you started your tree yet?
Adriana Rivera I have some information but only from my mother’s side. She can only tell me up to her great grandparents on her paternal side. My biological father is Portuguese. I never met him. I was raised in foster care most of my childhood (age 7-17). I do know that I was born in Ponce. Where could I possibly start. It’s all overwhelming. Thank you kindly.
All your peoples were explorers and we're searching. They traveled a lot. I find that to be interesting. Do you feel the need to travel? Im pr and I move a lot.
Very similar to mine. I'm from Mexico. Just that I got more middle eastern than African but we have similar DNA. My mom is pretty Iberian European and my dad is pretty mestizo.
I like your video and I also came up 1% Asian. My son wanted to know where it came from . Asian is about the very same as Native American which did not show up on my DNA. My grandmother and my sisters I used to go to Alabama to visit the reservation To see my great grandmother to still live on the reservation.
I am 100% boricua as well and got on ancestry 73% Europe, 17% Native American, 9% African and 1% Middle East, with a total of 16 regions among these territories. My mom got 18% and my dad 14% Native American. We are definitely more mixed than just spanish, african and native american, and I am so proud the Taino lives in us.
The British empire was in the carribean. Many men of English, scots, and Irish settled on the islands. Also, during the Spanish American war, the United States defeated the Spanish Empire. The Army units were made up of men of Irish and scottish ancestry mostly. The American Reigiment stayed in Puerto Rico after the war. Most of the men married into the population. The Middle Eastern and North Africa came from the moor's conquest of Spain in the 8th century.
17% Taino es bien alto. Hazle el examen a tu familiar con mas edad a ver que resultados consigues. Definitavemente se ven los rasgos indigenas en tu imagen. Yo tengo 12% Taino lo cual es tipico en PR.
Well am Puerto Rican I was think like you 50%spain and %50 taino but for my surprise am not am %50 European 25%polineysian and also have 3% Jewish, 1% Italian and -1 British some kind crazy stuff and yes now I just tried to my parent do the test to! ☺️
Most Anglo Americans and Afro Americans think that the only immigrants to Puerto Rico were Spaniards and West Sub-Saharan Africans. So they will probably think you are lying.
Native Iberians do score a lot of Italy/Greece and some Great Britain (among others) so you should really see your Europe score (+ West Asia + Africa North) as your total Spaniard ancestry, so around 72%+ Spaniard. The very small % are usually what is called "noise", especially if they don't make any sense historically (here Pacific Islander for instance). The 2% Indian needs to be investigated though.
Johannes Hügel no need to be rude- would you care to explain why the majority people of Puerto Rico have Italian/Greek and other European DNA, besides IBerian, without having any significant migration from any of those countries. The vast majority of european migration to PR was from Spain. So do the math, what that tells you?
MAELOB Migrations to Puerto Rico came from many of the neighboring colonies. French colonies, Mexico, British Colonies, Dutch etc. I had no idea of all the different ethnicities in PR until my DNA results did not make any sense to me. I had to start reading history that is not taught in school. Puerto Rico has been a melting pot since even before its colonozation. Even the Taino were a result of three major migrations a mixed people who became one. It is in essence what makes the Caribbean so awesome. A Mixture of everything
Sorry to disappoint you but Latino includes Asian Latinos, Mestizo Latinos, Native American Latinos, unmixed black Latinos and unmixed European Latinos as well. You are imagining that the three way mixed mixed Latinos in the Caribbean represent everyone in Latin America. They don't. They don't even represent everyone in the Caribbean.
Great that you're proud of your african heritage even with only 10% ! Africa is the future. You seem to be a very down to earth human being. Take care 😉
Spain saved Italy from the Ottoman Empire. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Castelnuovo en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Lepanto The Battle of Pavia (1525) marked the beginning of Spanish dominance in Italy. Spain's claims to Naples and Sicily in southern Italy dated back to the 15th century, but had been marred by rival claims until the mid-16th century. While Venice, the Papal States, Este, and Savoy retained their independence, the rest of the Italian Peninsula either became part of the Spanish Empire or looked to it for protection. There would be no Italian revolts against Spanish rule until 1647. The death of the Ottoman emperor Suleiman the Magnificent in 1566 and the naval victory over the Ottoman Empire at the Battle of Lepanto in 1571 gave Spain a claim to be the greatest power not just in Europe but also in the world. The Spanish Empire comprised territories and colonies of the Spanish Monarch in the Americas, Asia (Philippines), Europe and some territories in Africa and Oceania.
So 8% Black African, 17% Indigenous and 75% Spanish. North Africa counts as Spanish (Guanches and Moors). Italy Greece and other European ancestries are just different admixtures in Spaniards. South Asia may be Spanish gypsy. Puertorricans are Spaniards. It's sad they were conquered by the US and turned into a colony.
the percentages of "Italian / Greek" correspond to the period of the Roman Empire in Hispania (-219 to 476); the Scandinavian (Germanic in general), corresponds to the Germanic invasions of Hispania in the fifth century ... That is why all this genetic inheritance together with the Iberian indigenous people constitute Spanish blood and it refers to Spanish ancestors in all safety ... I am Spanish and I have 14% of Scandinavian ... I do not have anything of Moor nor Arab like 75% of the Spaniards ... then the remaining 25% can have a low percentage no greater than 10% ...
Melanesians are people that look African but are more genetically before Polynesian. They may have made to the Americas first and were replaced by the influx of the American Indian people coming out of Russia or the Bering Strait.
I saw a video the guy from PR had Asia India. People from India are from Pakistan. Middle Eastern people got around. Southern Italians are mixed with Middle Eastern to. Their beautiful people.
Good Evening Ms. Adry River please if you permit me to make a respectful , polite comment if it's ok with you. This is your page, your presentation, your story and I don't mean to intrude or presume but I have to make a small comment in response to Mr. Chris and his reference to the Puerto Rican lady who looks white. From a physical anthropologists perspective this lady with 85% European, 10% Native American and 5% African genetic content is point of fact a Caucasian white woman due to her overwhelming 85% European component (very, very little mixture there) very likely of the Proper or Atlanto-Mediterranean physical type typical in Spain and the Canary Islands and the predominant Caucasian phenotype in the white populations of Cuba and Puerto Rico. The population of Puerto Rico is a uni ethnic but mixed-multiracial population composed of three distinct morphological groups according to the census - whites, mulattos-mestizos and blacks. Whites actually constitute the majority of the population on the island of Puerto Rico(not the U.S Puerto Ricans though) as well as Cuba being Cuba the one with the strongest European component of all the Caribbean islands due to the fact that in Latin American it was the country that received after Argentina the most Spanish immigrants. The notion exists that the only two countries to receive real European immigration in the Americas were the US and Canada and this is not correct. The US and Canada have mostly whites of the Nordic Central European racial types whites while through Latin America whites are more of the Southern Mediterranean racial type, that is the difference. Nonetheless as you said Ms. River, yes we do have a strong admixture in our genetic make up of Afro-iberian-taino elements. Ms. River you are really more within the physiological spectrum of a mestiza due to your physical traits and genetic composition. Please forgive me Ms. Adry if I am intrusive or overwhelming and thank you. With much respect from the sister island of Cuba.

We inherit DNA from a subset, not all of our ancestors. The estimates will change as more data is gathered. DNA testing is more valuable as a tool to connect to relatives than to get an estimate of ethnicity.”

@@radrook4481 Ummm no, no one in the US would consider her black they would just call her hispanic although thats not a racial group
Meli ssa yours are pretty diverse too
Just Curious, How Old Were You When You First Came To America 🇺🇸?
Very mixed person covers practically everywhere! I think it`s a rare to have a person with Northern and Southern European, Native American, Southern Asian, Pacific Islander, African, Scandinavian, British, Western European, Middle East, Ashkenazi Jewish..wow! Southern European is normally Portugal and Spain or Italy and Greece. You got all four!!!
As a jamaican man live with native american on the reservation in new Mexico for a few years I can see the Native american features
Great video paisana your roots are strong God bless you!
Your results are so similar with my mom almost identical, She is really Moroveña also. My results are really different than even most Boricuas' results I have seen:
16% African (11%Senegal,North African,Nigeria, Ivory Coast/Ghana)
16% Native American
33%Italy/Greece
22%Ireland
9%Iberian Peninsula(So weird!)
1% Middle East
1%Melanesian
Fig Towers cool results!
I’m proud of my Spanish heritage without those guys what would this world be?
me tengo que hacer una prueba de adn aver saludos desde Salinas,Puerto Rico!!!
Poner los resultados en el Internet es darle amunicion a esta gente para que ellos sigan jodiendo con su regla de una gota.
We the tainos are still here. They didn't get the job right or completed. Tainos are not Indians. Tainos are native. Big difference. Indians are from India. To be an Indian is not the same to be native. We are native.
What's funny is that every human being is mixed or has a variety of genes.
Puerto Ricans aren't mixed because of the new world, but rather that Spain had already for centuries Celts, Scandinavians, Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Greeks, Jews, Noth Africans, among so many others. A new world addition would be Native American.
The Indian portion possibly comes from gypsy ancestry. The Gypsies in Spain originated from the Indian subcontinent.
Where does the Middle East dna come from? It showed in my DNA test.
From The Arabic peninsula and North Africa. If you are Hispanic you might have it from your ancestors from Spain.
It's possible, what is your user name on ancestrydna ? Or a surname i can search for you
Ahmed Gypsy King Adam yes. My username on ancestry is adrianamarola. Let me know what you find
I think i found you if you have Rivera on there as your name.
If so you are indeed related to me from my grandmother which has most family from Ponce (:
Ahmed Gypsy King Adam Yes my last name is Rivera. Wow! How are we related? So cool!
Great results, at first glance I could tell your Native American. And I agree, your the first 🇵🇷 I have seen with Asia south ancestry.. Thanks for sharing.. on my test results I had pacific island.. country was Melanesia.. that was a surprise for me..
Ito Roots Melanesia, that's cool!
Adry River .. yes thank you.. I didn't know anything of Melanesia prior to my testing.. after my results I looked into Melanesians history.. Interesting indeed.. Proud to carry some of that history with in me..
Awesome! I feel the same about Polynesia
#SexiMexi Papasito By the same token, Mexicans have less European than Ricans. Most of the time Mexicans have more black in them than European.
You have to be a fucking troll you look South Asian.
Tony Lazania wow really? How are we related?
I'm not sure. I'm trying to figure that out. Based on our DNA match and family trees, It might be through our Pagan or Rodriguez lineage.
Y did it. Love my results.
Can you help me with my family tree I just saw your buzzfeed video!
Adriana Rivera Im just having trouble find my grandparents records to be honest
@@anthonyrivera-medina try different spelling to their names, dates 5 - 10 years in range to see if you find anything.
What is your genetic community?
Somos tainos arawakos tainos arawaks
Somos Europeos con un poco de Taino y Africano.
You have those native American (Taino) beautiful features.
first off beautiful just beautiful my Queen and also nice video...!!!!!
Well am Puerto Rican I was think like you 50%spain and %50 taino but for my surprise am not am %50 European 25%polineysian and also have 3% Jewish, 1% Italian and -1 British some kind crazy stuff and yes now I just tried to my parent do the test to! ☺️
Well ,the European side includes the Iberian right, since Spain is Europe .
Have you ever read about Manila galleons? That was the source of Pacific Islander ancestry.
No they don't.
Italians and Spanish are in some ways similar, but completely different genetics/people.
Johannes Hügel no need to be rude- would you care to explain why the majority people of Puerto Rico have Italian/Greek and other European DNA, besides IBerian, without having any significant migration from any of those countries. The vast majority of european migration to PR was from Spain. So do the math, what that tells you?
Johannes Hügel Italy was a product of that you know Roman Empire that was in it's own right a world Power in history.
I getting my results around the 20th.. so excited
Hey, telling people that want to know more about their Native American and Asian heritage to upload your data to wegene dna
Thanks for your results.
I learned so much from watching this!! I'm new to all this but I wanna learn as much as I can!! Check out my results!
Awesome! I'll check it out ✌🏽
cool results Yo tambien sali 67% European , 17% NA wow I only got 7% Taino I'm Boricua too Chekea mi canal mi DNA video ...😊
Bori/Domi De africano nada !???
si sali 24% de Africa
ALL Puerto Ricans are Taino, while we are assimilated with Spain and Africans WE are still here..
Nah. Some are just white and they're proud of it. Trust me.
Como puedes verificar el comparar los resultados con otros puertorriqueños?
Skylar Q hay muchos grupos en FB de genealogía puertorriqueña . También cuando los ves aquí en RUclips.
Morovis!! You probably related to me I am sure! Because I am from Morovis and almost all my tree is in Morovis in the 1800s. Prima!!

Gatillera Pr sí mucha gente lo tiene jaja
Latinos are mix native, spanish, blk & asian.
Take care 😉
I’m Cuban and my dna is 50 % Europe and 26 % taino
The rest African?
nice results
So interesting!
Hola! Soy puertorriqueña y tengo 1% de Asia Central :)
Jovanska probablemente un o una esclava turca o turco llevado a España y sus descendientes llegaron a poltoliko y se mezclaron con Tainos
Your low % of African does coincide w/your appearance.
You look mostly European w/some Native, not much African at all.💖
Spain saved Italy from the Ottoman Empire.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Castelnuovo
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Lepanto
The Battle of Pavia (1525) marked the beginning of Spanish dominance in Italy.
My mix is just as wild as yours!
Iam mexican i love. Tainas
the percentages of "Italian / Greek" correspond to the period of the Roman Empire in Hispania (-219 to 476); the Scandinavian (Germanic in general), corresponds to the Germanic invasions of Hispania in the fifth century ...
Thumbs down for making me wait 5 minute before the results.
Catch N Release it’s called fast forward 😬
Melanesians are people that look African but are more genetically before Polynesian. They may have made to the Americas first and were replaced by the influx of the American Indian people coming out of Russia or the Bering Strait.
We aré the "sazón" of the World 😄🤗🤗🤗🤗💖💖💖

Reysser Pais thanks you so much for your comment. Very insightful!
