Sophie some tips to help sleep :
    • taking a bath before bed with lavender scented bath bubbles.
    • making your room colder because when you sleep your body temperature drops.
    • lying flatter when you sleep
    • drinking some water
    • turning you phone brightness to a yellow tint you can do this on your iPhone if you hold down where you change your brightness

If you're having issues with insomnia, midnight snacks are actually not a good idea. It makes your stomach work through the night and you can't get the best sleep with your inside systems running. If that makes sense :p I don't want to tell you what to do, it's just my 2 cents!❤️

    Hi there, lovely Sophie!
2019 was very crappy for me, too. Unfortunately this year hasn't been much better (nothing to do with covid, I enjoy being alone or with my boyfriend at home, never enjoyed social events😂).
My problems had much to do with insomnia, too. Had been sleeping by medicine for many years, then my employer messed with our health services which led to doctors denying the medicine from me. I quit them during my summer holiday last year, didn't sleep more than max 2h a night for 3 weeks.
After my holiday I was working for 2 weeks, still not sleeping, then I just couldn't work anymore. I am a nurse, so when I started to forget things at work I couldn't put the patients in danger. I was on sickness leave for 9 months, and now I work for 2 days a week. My memory is still not working properly, I can't handle the chaos that we sometimes have at work as I used to. I also can't work in shifts anymore, because of my insomnia. So I have to seek a new job and have anxiety because I don't know what and when that will be.
This is a very long response, I just can so feel what you're going through with the sleeping business. And for period pain I would talk with a doctor, mine were very bad, too. I started taking pills just over a year ago, I had no need for contraception before that and didn't wan to go to a gyno when I was still a virgin. I was very lucky and the first pill I tried has been working perfectly. No pains anymore, and not much periods either.
Love ya, please make some kind of advent calendar vids again!

Adding to your comment because it’s related:
What helped me with my period pains was switching to a three month birth control pill. With that pill, you basically don’t have a period for three months, so you only get your period 4 times a year. It didn’t make my periods less painful when they come, but having to deal with them only 4 times a year and not 12 was helpful. Of course, not everyone’s body agrees with that pill and there was a lot of trial and error before I found what works for me.

For your period pain, I'd definitely recommend asking your GP for a referral to a gynecologist. They'll be able to do scans for fibroids and structural issues with your uterus. I have a needle phobia too, and so far, I haven't been asked to do anything involving a needle by my gynaecologist!
For your insomnia, you can go and see a sleep counsellor. It's really helped me with my insomnia! I'd also make sure that your mattress and pillows are giving you the proper support, and is keeping your neck and spine straight. I recently changed my pillows and the difference is adding six hours to my sleep cycle!
And yep, I get the Internet ick too. Sometimes YT feels like a lovely little community, and sometimes it feels like a Dementor from Harry Potter...

I find that lying on my left side, kind of curled up, with my knees tucked in helps me when i have really bad period pains. Also, gently rubbing your stomach back and forth can also help to calm it (apparently). These are some things that work for me, not to say that they will for everyone, but you never know. I was quite the insomniac during sixth form, like i would only get more than 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep if i hadnt slept the previous night, and usually woke up every 30mins until i gave up and stayed awake. it was pretty bad. things that i found helped me and got me to where i am now 2 years later were:
~sorting out my diet - i was having too much sugar and when i cut back i found myself tired more often
~i started listening to music/watching shows as i was going to sleep - i am a major overthinker with anxiety and depression so my mind races when i have nothing else to focus on. this helped me MASSIVELY and its something i still do to this day!
~i slept with my dog or cat in the bed with me - they have such a calming effect for me, my cat is my comfort animal. when i couldnt sleep with either of them i slept with a teddy, which i know is weird for a then 18 year old but if it works it works
~i wore myself out in the day - i went on two hour long dog walks, id do exam papers to exhaust my brain (this can backfire tho if you cant sleep at night)
overall, i just started taking better care of myself. i stayed hydrated, exercised more, and worked out my brain too. try puzzles! i always do about 3 codewords or sudokus before bed. i really hope you get better soon, i know how much insomnia sucks and i wouldnt wish it on anyone else

Several things I'd like to say:
    1) on the insomnia front try talking to your Dr about a 2 week course of perscription sleeping aids. This can kick your body clock back into gear.
    2) Period pain - have you tried over the counter co-codemol. It's mildly stronger that paracetamol but with my periods (before I got the implant) it helped a lot.
    3) I would pay to watch you talk every month like you're talking now. I probably wouldn't even care about what game you're playing. Please stream it would be awesome.

my night time routine put in place by a sleep clinic (but i do this along with melatonin)
    start at 11pm
    - turn phone off
    - leave bedroom
    - dim lights in other room
    - do hand-eye coordination task (crochet, reading, colouring)
    - have a dairy snack
    - drink water/milk
    - brush teeth
    - change into ACTUAL pj's
    - go into bedroom at 00:00am
    - try to sleep for 30 minutes
THIS WILL TAKE AT LEAST 2 WEEKS TO START WORKING

I struggled with terrible insomnia and I ended up listening to the radio every night until I fell asleep, then I’d turning the radio off in the morning! It sounds kind of silly and it took a lot of perseverance for it to begin working. I’d put the radio on every evening and lie flat with my eyes closed, the first few weeks. We’re the toughest but as time went on it began to work. It’s now nearly 10 years later and I’ve slowly managed to stop having the radio on every night. It’s taken time but now I’ve got my standard night routine I feel like my body’s gotten used to it and I now have a pretty normal sleep patter (around 7 or 8 hours some nights!) I hope this helps ❤️ Even if listening to the radio every evening doesn’t sound like something you want to do I guess the thing you can take out of this is to form an exact routine every evening and stick to it no matter what xxx

@@andreavintage3870 It doesn't matter how rare it is (and I don't think some complications are as rare as people think), it's more that people going in have to be prepared for something like that to happen.
If you're spending that much money and having surgery on your face, you need to be aware that it won't necessarily be how you want it, and you might even need to spend even more after. I had lots of issues with my stomach when I was younger and turns out I probably had GERD but you can’t have indigestion when you’re a child (it’s to do with the formation of your body and something being too tight - can’t quite remember) but instead I was being sick a lot. So now I have to take 2 omeprazole everyday which does nothing and i can hardly eat. I have the worst period pains but I still take ibuprofen when I shouldn’t because the pain is unbearable 😩. In terms of periods, im on the mini pill for mine because I was spending 2 days throwing up every month. I now don't get periods full stop and its glorious.
If you need pain relief options though, i have fibromyalgia so know a fair amount of options! I know my period pain always responded well to heat, you can buy heat mats online that are honestly my saving grace. I think I got mine for like £25 on amazon. Also I found that paracetamol did pretty much nothing, but the paracetamol+ caffeine tablets worked fine! You cam also buy cocodamol over the counter, ive never used it for period pain but its a hell of a lot stronger that paracetamol. Deep heat/ deep freeze roll ons are also wonderful inventions because they massage in the gel when applied.
In terms of medication I also have stomach issues and reflux so can't take ibuprofen. Its best to stick to the paracetamol based painkillers

Glad you are doing well :) Just wanted to let you know, viewers don't have to pay to watch people on Twitch. You can follow people for free, or subscribe with Twitch Prime if you have an Amazon Prime account, or pay money to support streamers only if you want to. But it is completely possible to watch any streams without doing any of those things, you will just have to watch a couple of commercials during the stream to "pay" for it, just like on RUclips. So don't let that stop you, if that's what you are worried about. I have a couple of people that I watch on both RUclips as well as Twitch, who stream for fun. It's nice to get to hang out in chat and see them doing something different, and Twitch audiences for those types of streams are often smaller, so you can have a nice community going where everyone chats with the streamer as well as each other. If you are curious, I would recommend just going to the Twitch homepage and seeing what strikes your fancy, or searching for a specific game to see who is playing. Twitch does a nice job of promoting smaller streamers on their homepage as well, so it's an easy way to dip your toe in and see how you like it. Hope you have a good day :)

As to periods, I'd really go to the doctor. They can cause insomnia and depression, too. So if you have a hormone imbalance that's causing them to be painful, they might be causing other issues too. Best to always get these things checked out. Glad to hear you're doing better mental health-wise. Take care of yourself.

This is a PSA for everyone, but if your period pain is bad enough that you cry, or it stops you from being able to do your normal activities, that is not normal! You should go to a doctor and advocate for yourself to get it checked out if you are able. Periods shouldn't be that painful. Unfortunately, period pain really isn't taken seriously, so it may take visiting multiple doctors over a long period of time to get something done about it, but you don't deserve to be in pain!

for your stomach, if you've not already, ask about bile acid malabsorption. I've had problems my whole life, I was tested and got given colesevelam, I take that along side ranitidine and Omeprazone (I know its a lot of tablets..) but I've gone from barely being able to eat anything and awful reflux / digestion issues, to rarely having issues at all.

Take this with a grain of salt, this is what I do:
-(I suffer from hyperacidity (ph in my stomach is lower than average, and Im at the risk of developing ulcers, and I get acid reflux often). For my period cramps, I take muscerol, its very strong tho, you'll fall asleep, but it works wonders.
    - I have severe anxiety (Think heart problems, nervous system atrophy, type anxiety), I never wanted to go under anesthesia, but I had a severe deviated septum, and couldn't breathe 3 months ago, so I got the surgery. I ended up getting a septorhinoplasty, and although the recovery process (first week) is annoying, its still worth it. I could tell you my experience, maybe you could give it a shot, I'm not saying its the same for me as it is for you, but maybe you'd be motivated to try and pursue it soon.

I had a nose job over 40 years ago. I have zero regrets. I helped my confidence and made me feel great. The did no file or break the bone so there was no pain. You'll have black eyes for a week and plaster but it doesn't take long for the swelling to go down. Advice would be go for a "natural" nose not a retroussé button or a Hollywood cookie cutter nose. Ask for your nose but better. Re sleeping try melatonin, it works.

hey sophie, i struggle with some anxiety and sometimes insomnia, the thing that’s helped me the most is meditation. the youtube channel “michael sealey” has some amazing videos that really calm me down when i’m really anxious and help me get a better quality of sleep.
and also, yes to advent calendars! they’re so iconic.
i’m writing this as i’m watching and keep having to add things😂 but about the nose filler, if you would feel more confident with it then go for it, but as you said there are risks and if you don’t think it would impact your self confidence much then embrace it! you’re beautiful and if your nose was like everyone else’s it would be boring and no one would be unique 😁
anyway stay positive, hopefully you will enjoy the rest of this year now that covid is calming down 💓

You've probably tired the lot, but if not.. Try a Sleep tea, I think Clipper or Twinnings do one. Lavender scents incorporated into a night time routine help.. But don't bother with the Radox lavender things, they don't smell like lavender.. But I've not tried their sleep range, that could be better. A lavender bath or true lavender smelling bath salts or shower gel is relaxing before bed.. Have your sleep tea, listen to the Calm App (or similar, there are free ones) with a meditation story, they last up to an hour (you can pick the lengths), a fan or white noise app adds just a droning type noise in the background, it also drowns out any outside noise.. This Works Sleep pillow mist helps (the rollerball is nice too) and some essential lavender oil in a burner about an hour before bed is nice and relaxing too. If all else fails and you can't sleep, get up, make the tea and watch a bit of Tv downstairs (out of the bedroom).. Love watching a bit of Bob Ross, he is super relaxing! X

Last year for me was the worst for insomnia I'd never really dealt with it until then but my god was awful. Wasn't sleeping at all, and waking during the night still struggle to be honest and in the end I started not being able to sleep with my bf even though I love him I just couldn't seem to sleep properly with him. And now he sleeps in the spare room and I sleep in the main room trying to practice sleeping with him again. I haven't slept deeply for a long time I'm 25. But some things that help slightly relaxing after 9pm using my blue light glasses if I want to be looking at a screen. Chamomile tea with cherry juice from Holland and Barrett
About the nose I've hated mine from when I was a teen its long and pointy with a bump and crooked .I started getting filler when I was about 22 and I liked it but I would get obsessive and be inspecting it all the time to make sure the filler was still there now I'm 25 I'm thinking I might just leave it and not bother and try and learn to accept it no matter how difficult so can totally relate Sophie but your nose is beautiful in my opinion x

From someone that also gets really painful periods, I highly recommend the Livia! it's a tens unit that you put on your lower abdomen that sends vibrations into your body and for some reason, our brains pick up vibrations before it picks up the pain, so it kinda deafens the pain if that makes sense?

What i do to help me sleep better at night, i turn my phone off a couple hours before bed and other devices (the light from the phones or other devices) causes you to stay awake, also less caffeine, do some work outs, take a nice bath woth lavender, you can also put lavender pillow mist on your bed to help to, and relax before bed with reading a book or doing a puzzle, these help me not sure if it'll help you but figured I'd share maybe it'll help someone here. I get pretty bad period pains and i lay flat on my stomach with a heating pad on my stomach it helps ease the pain for a little while. Hope these help.

I suffer from severe abdominal pain related to ibs and it affects me periods massively! Thankfully I haven’t had a period in 6 months due to my first ever pregnancy 🥰 but what really helped me was taking buscopan cramps medication which helps relax the muscles so really works. Takes 5 or so minutes to work so whilst I’m waiting I put a hot water bottle on my tummy which again helps soothe the pain from the hot water as it also helps relax the muscles or you can have a really hot bath
Buscopan shouldn’t affect your tummy problem either but always double check with your doctor 😊
Hope that helps anyone with bad period pains!
