"Only a Captain" is a ridiculous statement anyway. O-6 isn't easy to attain, and Rear Admiral is even harder. Plus, once you make O-7, you won't be flying. You won't be flying missions as an O-6, for that matter... just taking your bird out for a spin on YOUR carrier as CO or XO.

Same bro! I just saw this in IMAX! Top Gun kicked us off with an amazing Summer already and I want Avatar 2 to finish off strong this year! My first movie this year was The Batman which was my least favorite. I am planning on seeing Jurassic World for my birthday next week! These are my top four movies I'm seeing this year for 2022. Top Gun is number one on my top favorites followed by The Batman as number two. I really want Avatar 2 to end this year strong!

I'm a captain for Airbus airplanes by now, but it took me until 2005, when I had just finished university and went to flight school, to watch this movie for the first time. This movie may not have anything to do with reality, but at that time it gave us a special feeling that pushed us through training, ups and downs, pressure and fears of an unknown future.
The plot already came out. He is an instructor at Top Gun in the present time when the use of unmanned drones by the US military has resulted in lessening the need for fighter pilots and traditional dogfighting skills. He meets Goose’s son, who is a young up and coming Naval aviator, and the story continues from there.
This guy is 59 and he's killing it so hard. I just finished watching the film. This one is meant just for the big screens. What an experience it was!!! The thing which I liked the most about this one was that along with intricately designed plane chase sequences, the film is also high on emotion.... Towards the end, you realise how wholesome it is.

My dad was battling cancer when this trailer came out. We hoped he would get better and we'd go watch this movie as we knew he loved the first one. He didn't make it. So i watched this movie without him and know he would have loved it.

I just got back home from watching it in IMAX. It's the best movie and cinematic experience i have ever had and ever will have i'm sure of it. Thank you to every person who made this movie, and thank you to everyone in history making the technologies capable of making a movie like this! I cried a few times throughout, what a rollercoaster ride!
That was my plan all along and I had a ticket to the IMAX theater an hour away, but I cancelled and just went to the normal local theater. Now, I'm eager to see the IMAX even more. The cookie-cutter theaters look so old in comparison and the house lights aren't dim enough.

I went to a private Blue Angels practice on the Pensacola Air Base and one of the planes did a dive and pulled up right above the run way and that bubble popped around the plane. Was the coolest thing I have ever seen in person!

The 80's movie was iconic for me. I swear that the sequel hasn't lost that loving feeling. The action scenes are incredible - better than the first! The absence of cgi added to the authenticity. The screen writing and acting was very very good. I had very high expectations and the movie exceeded that. I'll go again tonight.

Fun Fact Anthony Edwards, who played Goose in the original, was the only actor not to vomit during the dogfight sequence filming.
My father loved the first movie, he was an air force pilot in my country and he died making his biggest passion 3 years ago, he was someone quite serious but being with him while we saw that movie was something unchangeable, especially because almost 2 Decades without piloting a plane after ascending, seeing this trailer gave me goosebumps like no other, this brought me beautiful memories, I really look forward to this movie with great eagerness.
Amazing movie. I've seen it 3 times already, it's that good! See it on the biggest screen possible. Don't wait for streaming, you need to make the effort to go and see it. Everyone clapped at the end! That hardly ever happens. Proper old school, blockbuster movie magic.

Saw Top Gun in 1986 when I was 17. It was my all time favorite and I cannot recall how many times I have seen it. I went on to a 30 year Airline career as I had a passionate love for Aviation. I sat in the cinema yesterday to watch Top Gun Maverick, and the opening scene/music just filled me with emotion and fond memories of when I was 17. I was simply BLOWN AWAY by this movie! Many many tear up moments, more from a nostalgia aspect as I was filled with joy and excitement. I think this is possibly the best movie I have ever seen, and after the crap Hollywood has produced of late, it was refreshing to be thoroughly entertained again at the Cinema. Mr Cruise...You knocked this one way out of the park! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Will be seeing this one again ... and again...

I took my wife to see this movie, which is back in cinema's for a couple of weeks. WOW!! We were both absolutely engulfed in the film, the story , the characters. Dare I say it was better than the 1st, which is a classic. Great job to Tom Cruise and the entire cast and crew. I will definitely go see it again. Best movie in years.

Seen thousands of movies, this is in my top maybe 10 or 20 of all-time, Braveheart being my #1 pick. Top Gun is a MASTERPIECE! Saw it at age 8, helped shape me as a young man, today there are so many lessons in this movie that i missed the first time watching.
there are many references, way he salute, same as in first part, way he performed maneuver at the beginning, spinning of the volleyball on the palm etc ... every person who really liked first top gun will find a lot of similarities and Im happy because of that, its the true legend

I remember sitting at work and finding out that this trailer had dropped. I didn't even know that the movie was in the works. I was really shocked at how emotional and pumped I was to see it. I saw the original in the theater with my Dad and here we were 35 years later with the next chapter. I wish he had survived to see it. Great movie. Can't wait to see it again.

@@Jagerbomber There have been numerous sightings of an FA-18F (two-seat version of the Super Hornet) with *4* separate cameras looking into the back seat, while wearing the same paint scheme as the "CAG Bird" FA-18E (flash number 00) we see on the flight line. That's likely how they got the footage, including that gorgeous cat shot and the dive over the mountain ridge. My two biggest questions are: 1. What exactly was Maverick flying that required a pressure suit? 2: Where's the Tomcat from?
He’s 57 and more capable than most actors half his age. You do realise this movie was delayed because Cruise insisted he be filmed flying the jets himself, just like he did in the original. He’s already an experienced pilot. He went through training in the F-18 and the shots you see of him in the cockpit in the film are really him, in an F-18 that’s flying. So fuck his age.
Absolutely spectacular, wasnt a massive fan of the original film but was totally hooked onto this one, the storytelling is great, the music is brilliant and well what can you say about Tom Cruise which hasnt already been said. DO NOT MISS THE OPPORTUNITY TO WATCH THIS IN A THEATER. It is a once in a generation type movie. Great stuff.

I just got back home from watching it in IMAX. It's the best movie and cinematic experience i have ever had and ever will have i'm sure of it. Thank you to every person who made this movie, and thank you to everyone in history making the technologies capable of making a movie like this! I cried a few times throughout, what a rollercoaster ride!

That was my plan all along and I had a ticket to the IMAX theater an hour away, but I cancelled and just went to the normal local theater. Now, I'm eager to see the IMAX even more. The cookie-cutter theaters look so old in comparison and the house lights aren't dim enough.

The 80's movie was iconic for me. I swear that the sequel hasn't lost that loving feeling. The action scenes are incredible - better than the first! The absence of cgi added to the authenticity. The screen writing and acting was very very good. I had very high expectations and the movie exceeded that. I'll go again tonight.

My father loved the first movie, he was an air force pilot in my country and he died making his biggest passion 3 years ago, he was someone quite serious but being with him while we saw that movie was something unchangeable, especially because almost 2 Decades without piloting a plane after ascending, seeing this trailer gave me goosebumps like no other, this brought me beautiful memories, I really look forward to this movie with great eagerness.

Saw Top Gun in 1986 when I was 17. It was my all time favorite and I cannot recall how many times I have seen it.
I went on to a 30 year Airline career as I had a passionate love for Aviation.
I sat in the cinema yesterday to watch Top Gun Maverick, and the opening scene/music just filled me with emotion and fond memories of when I was 17. I was simply BLOWN AWAY by this movie! Many many tear up moments, more from a nostalgia aspect as I was filled with joy and excitement.
I think this is possibly the best movie I have ever seen, and after the crap Hollywood has produced of late, it was refreshing to be thoroughly entertained again at the Cinema.
Mr Cruise...You knocked this one way out of the park! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I took my wife to see this movie, which is back in cinema's for a couple of weeks. WOW!! We were both absolutely engulfed in the film, the story , the characters. Dare I say it was better than the 1st, which is a classic. Great job to Tom Cruise and the entire cast and crew. I will definitely go see it again. Best movie in years.

Pretty sure that's an F/A-18E Super Hornet. Not an F/A-18C Hornet. E's are 2 seaters.
There are plenty of two-seat F/A-18s (trainers), but alas, the role of the WSO is long gone.

Top Gun is a MASTERPIECE! Saw it at age 8, helped shape me as a young man, today there are so many lessons in this movie that i missed the first time watching.

I remember sitting at work and finding out that this trailer had dropped. I didn't even know that the movie was in the works. I was really shocked at how emotional and pumped I was to see it. I saw the original in the theater with my Dad and here we were 35 years later with the next chapter. I wish he had survived to see it. Great movie. Can't wait to see it again.

Looks pretty realistic to me. If it’s free screen then damn they’re getting good with it. Im sure it’d be MUCH cheaper, but you wouldn’t get the same feeling from watching it. They could easily put Tom behind the pilot...right?

@@Jagerbomber There have been numerous sightings of an FA-18F (two-seat version of the Super Hornet) with *4* separate cameras looking into the back seat, while wearing the same paint scheme as the "CAG Bird" FA-18E (flash number 00) we see on the flight line. That's likely how they got the footage, including that gorgeous cat shot and the dive over the mountain ridge.
My two biggest questions are:
1. What exactly was Maverick flying that required a pressure suit?
2: Where's the Tomcat from?
This is the best movie I’ve watched in a long time . The cast , the direction and action the thrills chills and the nostalgic sound track . Uff 🔥

He’s 57 and more capable than most actors half his age.
You do realise this movie was delayed because Cruise insisted he be filmed flying the jets himself, just like he did in the original. He’s already an experienced pilot. He went through training in the F-18 and the shots you see of him in the cockpit in the film are really him, in an F-18 that’s flying. So fuck his age.

Absolutely spectacular, wasnt a massive fan of the original film but was totally hooked onto this one, the storytelling is great, the music is brilliant and well what can you say about Tom Cruise which hasnt already been said. DO NOT MISS THE OPPORTUNITY TO WATCH THIS IN A THEATER. It is a once in a generation type movie. Great stuff.
