The cast are on magnificent form here. Series 3 was the first of the four classic series. Chris Barrie's comic timing is masterful when he relates that tale.
Its no wonder Arnold wound up the way he is now when you consider his upbringing. Im sure anyone would have wound up so dysfunctional with a family like his. Still it was good to see him getting along so well with the others for a little while.
god, TWO things kill me in this scene: Arnie's perfectly pissh't delivery of the line "How many toes have ya got..?" and Krytie's gigantic pratfall onto the floor at the end there, just the perfect amount of chair-crash
That's why I love this scene. I really love these kind of moments, not when they're off fighting GELFs and simulants or jetting around in Starbug; when they're talking and reminiscing. Wilma Flinstone, Shoes have soles, All of Marooned... Good times...
What a hypocrite lmao. Because uncle frank wanted to get with his mum. ‘Uncle’ would imply that it was rimmer’s mum’s brother. I love subtle jabs like these
I just worked something out. His uncle Frank and his daughters. Even if it hadn't been him, it would have been one of his cousins... Either way its weird. One of the best Red Dwarf moments, ever.
I remember the first time I got drunk. There was a large party, just completely surrounded with friends and family. I drank about half a bottle of Starka Darkside, went up to the stage and sang a Lithuanian drinking song. When I got home, my mother just said to me, "Here's dinner, go to bed straight after". I woke up in the morning with a pounding hangover but somehow managed not to vomit. Fun times
Cat is surprisingly nice to Kryten in this scene. I’m pretty sure that despite his psychopathic tendencies, he does like Kryten and Lister, even though he’d probably leave them to save his own skin at some point! Also, why do I really feel for Holly here when she says she never had a Mum? She sounds so pitiful.
I borrowed the Uncle Frank joke when i had to do improv lines for a theatre production. Interesting reaction. The laughing from the audience was about three times longer than this, it was also considered to be one of the best jokes of the night. A couple of the younger people in the crew didn’t get the joke (as innuendo is something that the younger generation doesn’t understand), whilst a few blokes there recognized where i got the joke from. Still funny tho.
So to recap: Rimmer had a thing for his cousins and wanted to get kissed by them. Turned out to be his Uncle Frank kissing him. Uncle Frank actually wanted to kiss his own sister. Then Rimmer takes the moral high ground about Lister possibly being a child of incest 🧐
Actually, we never learn that Rimmer’s mum was his Uncle’s sister, it was more likely he was Rimmer’s father’s brother, or even cousin. 🤦♀️ And Lister’s the one who wants to do an Oedipus and sleep with his own mother, Kochanski!
no this is from Last Day,in series three, when kryten's shut down day approaches, and the boys from the dwarf decide to through him a party to give him a good send off. And get very drunk.
So Rimmer wanted to get off with his cousins but accidentally got off with his uncle who meant to get off with his sister/ Rimmer’s mum. Yup nothing wrong with that.
thedavecorp it's when you get so drunk, you start to feel down/sad/depressed and get moody..It's one of the many ways a person reacts when they get so inebriated/hammered..
I hope Rimmer knows he was thinking that his cousins had a crush on him. It is possible that Uncle Frank was his father's brother, but fancied his sister-in-law.

"Well, you can all have mine... everybody else had her!" Hilarious!
I knew I'd find that line in the comment section

His downfall is that he's aware of this but doesn't do anything about it.
Rimmer fucking slain me in this one XD The Uncle Frank story as well as the bitterness about people having his mum
"It was Uncle Frank"
Kryten's face!
The looks on Kryten and Lister's face was so funny.
Rimmer was right, that was a killer story.
1:14 The look on Lister and Kryten's faces is hilarious LOL.
"I suddenly feel the need to...to strut my funky stuff!" could not stop laughing at that
I love this scene it's funny and yet it's true to life when you go out drinking
Chris delivery of the punchline is outstanding
god, TWO things kill me in this scene: Arnie's perfectly pissh't delivery of the line "How many toes have ya got..?" and Krytie's gigantic pratfall onto the floor at the end there, just the perfect amount of chair-crash
1:15 The looks on their faces, CLASSIC!

This one of those things that when it happens in real life, becomes an inside joke you talk about for tears and years to come
2:27 "Your parents were brother and sister"
Or mother and son...
Jarrah White in a way...
Jesus, Rimmer!
What a hypocrite lmao. Because uncle frank wanted to get with his mum.
‘Uncle’ would imply that it was rimmer’s mum’s brother. I love subtle jabs like these
@@callinater6133 it was his fathers brother
So Rimmer wasn't all that far off the mark.
OMG, this has got to be one of the funniest Red Dwarf moments!!!
I just worked something out. His uncle Frank and his daughters. Even if it hadn't been him, it would have been one of his cousins... Either way its weird.
One of the best Red Dwarf moments, ever.
I was thinking the same thing :)
This is British - it’s legal for cousins to MARRY here!
@@EditorOfSL The taboo against cousins is mostly a 20th century thing. Darwin married his cousin.
@@Mark73 I know, right? Like I said, it’s still legal here.
It's actually legal to marry your cousin in much of the United States, too.
Rimmer should always wear that hat ! lol :P
I miss this writing in Red Dwarf... proper tragicomedy
Kryton: I never had a mumHattie: I never had a mum eitherRimmer: Well you can have mine!
"Everyone else did!"
Damn I was going to say that.

Ever seen a cat try to groom someone that isn’t a cat? They got their sweet-as-hell moments, dude.
Lister is King Joffrey. Lol
2:48 Kryten getting Jackson Pollocked by Lister.
Great episode, I would say that the first four series of RD were the best comedy I' ve seen in many years.
this always cracks me up
A genuine Jackson pollock 😂
uncle frank,killer line lol
Such a Rimmer story.
The brother and sister is my favourite part.
It was Uncle Framk! LOLZ!
1:15 - One of those insta-sobering moments.
Tears 😂
0:42 my first french kiss :D
Turns out, it was Rimmer that was forbidden passion fruit...lol
i think i feel a Jackson Pollick coming on! LOL
You seriously don’t know how to spell Pollock?
A fantastic scene

Great story but wdym innuendo is something the younger generation don’t understand? I’m guessing you mean children? Just a weird way to put it.
...that isn't an innuendo.
I think I feel a Jackson Pollock coming on!

I never had a mom neither
Well you can all have mine everyone else did 😂

"Authentic Jackson Polluck" nah, Polluck would have said Dave over worked it.
you can hav my mum, evry1 else did rofl!!! =b thats smeggin funny
XD!
Dinner tells this story again in season 12. Cat calls him out.
@SweetWhiskerz He turns out to be the father and mother of his own twins too. A little bit wierder than rimmer predicted.
Either his Fathers brother or his Mothers Sisters Husband.
Uncle frank must of been Rimmer's father's brother
series 3, episode 6, The Last Day
In a roundabout way Rimmer is correct.
So is it the case that Uncle Frank just said he had got the wrong room as an excuse but that actually he was a kiddy toucher?
This is so wrong.
Three people are American tourists.
I wish I was Uncle Frank now...
So Rimmer wanted to get off with his cousins but accidentally got off with his uncle who meant to get off with his sister/ Rimmer’s mum.
Yup nothing wrong with that.
Sister-in-law, idiot!
what season is this ?
season 3 is called the last day
Its a time hole
Uncle Frank wanted to get it on with his sister?
Hopefully he was an uncle through marriage and not blood, but you're right, they didn't go to any trouble to clarify that little point!
I though it was likely that his Uncle Frank was his Dad's Brother therefore trying to cop of with his Brothers Wife?
Sarah Rimmer here. I don't and never have fancied the goit :P
I know what that's like!
Wait what? Uncle Frank would French kiss his mother? Was this her brother?
No, brother-in-law!
Melancholy stage? I don't seem to get that.
thedavecorp it's when you get so drunk, you start to feel down/sad/depressed and get moody..It's one of the many ways a person reacts when they get so inebriated/hammered..
Abandoned. By himself.
I hope Rimmer knows he was thinking that his cousins had a crush on him. It is possible that Uncle Frank was his father's brother, but fancied his sister-in-law.
Yeah, it’s not weird to fancy your cousin here, it’s legal to marry cousins. Look at Darwin, and Queen Victoria. Their kids turned out okay.
