Dodger fan hear. I really hope you guys will be able to unlock something with Diego. He is a great person and if unleashed could be a franchise player. Just never worked out with the dodgers. Injuries and K struggles really hurt him. I truly believe if Dodgers werent where we are positioned and the roster the way it is, the Dodgers would have continued to try to unlock him. Just a difficult roster crunch. Dodgers saw a lot in him and really put a lot of work into him. Goodluck with him!! I would love to see him in the bigs with ya’ll
@ thanks for the sentiments! I think you are absolutely correct. The Dodgers are such a well run organization and their farm system is very good. I think it came down to where they are deep enough at catcher that they could afford to move him. It looks like he has a lot of potential so I hope it works out well for him
I wonder what the Twins could get for a guy like Christian Vasquez. Would it be a Top 30 prospect for a team that could use a veteran catcher. Maybe Somebody like Jace Bohrofen from Toronto? Is that too high or too low of a return? Hopefully they can work something out.
Toronto is one of those teams that both has a need and can spend some money. Whether they’d give up somebody like Bohrofen may depend on how much money the Twins ask them to cover of Vázquez’s salary.
Bohrofen was great in college and a fast riser in the Blue Jays system but alas he is a left handed hitter and the Twins are stocked to the gills with lefty outfielders. So I don’t think so.
Had the Twins claimed him off waivers, yes, he would have been acquired for nothing. Instead, the Twins felt other teams would also be interested in claiming Cartaya, so instead of putting in a claim and crossing their fingers that he got to them (which wasn’t gonna happen), they were proactive and worked out this trade instead.

Pretty sure they only have 3: Vázquez, Paddack and Willi. Guessing the others you’re counting are all arbitration eligible next year, so the Twins will be able to keep them if they’d like.

You know a young pitching group could find Christian Vasquez a very comfortable catcher to learn from. Batting average alone can’t determine a catcher
