I live in the South Island in NZ and use free range ice cold fresh wild spring water for every brew. Its a 5 mins drive and a 10 sec walk to the spring! Good times 🙂

Man... I used to brew so much beer, then only wine. Now nothing... I haven't brewed beer or wine in years now... I hate to sound like a lazy dick... But brewing is a chore! There's so many good beers out there I can't muster up the energy to do it anymore.... Sadly.

I must have been the last one to watch it as now both my computer and I have brain eating amoeba infections. Great video guys, as a former microbiologist, in an abundance of caution, I would probably have boiled the water before the mash but Kyle was right, boiling for 60 minutes after the mash would have done the trick.
Just one thought in terms of what was said in the video for a 5%ish beer...
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)Trusted Source recommends an alcohol concentration of between 60 and 90 percent for disinfection purposes.

I've wanted to do this as well since I do small batches (2.5g), which means I only need less than 5 gallons of water for the mash. But the idea of lugging a 5 gallon keg around to someplace with pristine water, then hiking back with it, makes my back hurt just thinking about it.

We get our water for brewing from an artesian well in the middle of town. There are over 80 of them around Olympia. They're fed by the glaciers on Mt. Rainier and is filtered deep within the earth. It's a brewer's dream, and it's free!

You need to brew with that 2 billion-year-old water they found in Canada.
I've actually brewed with mineral water from nearby natural springs but it was so full of minerals it tasted weird.
I think I'll stick to my RO water with salts added to suit the beer.
    Nice video guys.
