Alysa, I am glad you took time off from skating to experience other things: from hiking to base camp of Mt Everest to going to UCLA. Just enjoy the moment, be patient, and glad to see you on the ice, with a smile and taking ownership of training, programs, costumes, music choice and surrounding yourself with a good coaching team to ease and pave your way with you.
No one in the US is a sure thing right now: Amber looks good but has yet to prove she can deliver consistently for an entire season; Isabeau is a lovely skater but she's been struggling with rotating her jumps recently; Bradie is back but she's not back to where she used to be; and there are some up and comers who are promising, but untested. Alysa can come back and shake things up. She has that competitive focus so if she can deliver I wouldn't be surprised to see her back on top in January.
Sarah Everhardt, Elyce Lin Gracey are at least two more contenders who can beat Alysa. Amber, Isabeau and Bradie are either non reliable or not at their peak shape, but Alysa has yet to prove she will be. From what we have seen so far (Budapest Trophy), she's far from her best (a lot of underrotations), and the contenders in front of her were not that strong. It was enough to win but nothing assure she is gonna be consistent/technical enough when she will face skaters like Kaori Sakamoto. It's one thing to return and win a minor competition with a rather low score, but it's way tougher to stay at peak for one season and more, especially after a long hiatus.
@@herm712 only US female skater who has skated clean so far is Sarah Everhardt - she has assigned ISU Grand Prix so that should be interesting. (She is coached by Ilia’s parents)
@@MisaKMK Let's hope she can deliver then. The US is not short on talent; it's short on consistent talent. One good program or competition isn't enough. That first competition puts the judges on notice; the second one confirms what they saw the first time; the third one is where reputation is built. In a sport where you pretty much have to have a reputation with the judges to make it to the podium, delivering early and consistently is a must.
@@mayiko1 cause its the skater who needs to want to skate, to have fun as well, and to love ehat she or he is dooing. she had a good trainer than changed trainers, got used to the new trainer and than suddenly her dad chose another trainer yet again shortyl before Olympics if i remember correctly. and. anyone with eyes could see the light in jer eyes going out, she wasnt loving it anymore, and that is her fathers fault as well

In fact her father did not want her to go to the Olympics until the State Department insured him extra security would be provided.. Her light was going out? Alysa had a good time at the Olympics judging from her instagram. It was ironic because with all the Russian ladies drama she was the one having fun. She made friends and did so well that she was invited to the gala. A month later she won a bronze medal at the World Championship. Her father supported her decision to retire and go to.college.
Happy she's back and hoping she will really focus on trying to get back some of her ultra-C skills even if women FS has kind of watered down. I prefer her to Kaori artistically and technically but Liu has to be disciplined and serious about cleaning up some stuff like the q's. Of course, she is already consistent. All the best!

That’s crazy!!❤
I’m glad she’s coming back for the right reason: the love of the sport. Good luck Alysa!
I'm so happy to see her back! Hope she stays healthy and happy and I wish her the best! ❤

There are 2 other American skaters that won competitions last season. Both girls are also from NJ too. Those gals aren't well known.
I feel like Ava should be considered a potential top girl but yeah can't wait to see what happens with Alysa!

Well done Alysa, the sport missed you!
Sooo neat!! With less pressure, I think you will really be able to enjoy and love the skating more, wishing you all the best!!! :)
Glad to see her competing again. Back on her own terms. ❤
OUR QUEEEN AAWWWWUHHHH WE LOVE U GIRL
Thank god Alyssa's back, looking forward to seeing her skate, but I'll be patient too.
She competed at Budapest Trophy recently and won! 🎉
I think her father really pushed her, probably too hard, and had too much say in her skating career, so I'm glad she's now skating for herself.
