    Super fun haul. The smallest of the tins was designed as an ashtray and that's what the little bit that flips out is but the water pot clips onto it really well.

    Thank you for mentioning avoiding single use items. Mindfulness in purchasing is so important. I’m interested in the watercolor paper. The single sheets are what I enjoy. Sketchbooks make me nervous 😅

      It's honestly not impossible. Whether that fur was acquired legally is another question, though. There have been cases of supposedly synthetic brushes actually being fur, because illegal fur is sometimes cheaper than synthetic fibers (same with faux fur in fast fashion, that's turned out to be genuine at least a couple of times).
      I'd honestly prefer it if it's all synthetic - some of those brushes are really good, they'd be the best synthetic brushes I've tried.

    Thank you for mentioning the hole in the cap of the travel brush, and the bottom of the tin! Those little details make such a difference but are so often skipped over by sellers and reviewers! I’m looking forward to hearing how the little palettes and the sketchbooks perform!

    Is the plastic in those palettes similar to what we know from white nights and similar palettes? Or just a regular plastic, that "clumps" the watercolors?

    I like the green Baohong sketchbook, the cute little shiny red palette with the dimples, and the ‘humidor’ palette that I think would be lovely for acrylic gouache. They all look good as do most of your other choices. I have some of those stainless steel water pots, very useful. Shall be interested to see how the cut paper performs too. I haven’t trusted to order from Temu, when you see the items being handled by someone you have seen review at lot of things it makes a difference. The little palettes have a couple of nice choices too, the little magnetic wooden on and the clear acrylic one too. I am not a tiny painter though! Nice review, as usual shall look forward to see how some of these items perform.

    I have that little yellow sketchbook and really like it, though I haven't done watercolor on it yet (I've been doing small ink sketches I plan to put color on later). I'd be interested to see what you think of it, I haven't seen anyone else reviewing it yet but I love how it feels and I hope it takes water well. This haul is full of things I've been curious about as well! I love the look of that little red box.

    I have the little red palette. With 12 colors. I adore it! I brought it with me to holidays and it so small, I can carry it everywhere. The mixing side is just the right size it stains easily but with an erasure its an easy fix.

    • @EveBolt
      @EveBolt  2 месяца назад +1

      Good to know about the eraser! I love the format of this little palette, and the plastic feels so nice (I know it's an odd thing to say but it's true!)

      @@EveBolt the plastic is soo silky to the touch ✨ I'll definitely use this palette to travel with the 12 colors you can mix any colors you want to and the wells are big enough to not smudge the paints when mixing

    The little palette with the spoon shaped piece is for you to slide your water jar clip on. I like the last three palettes in particular. The sketchbooks seem nice. Would like your review of them. Nice haul.

    I've got the same Seamiart red tiny palette box and I took the insert out and replaced it with full pans (and one empty half pan - haven't yet decided what to put in it, maybe some Schmincke oxgall) of the Daniel Smith split primary set. It's become my go-to palette, even when I am not travelling, haha. At home I do use an extra mixing dish though

    • @EveBolt
      @EveBolt  2 месяца назад

      Ooo, interesting! I'll have to test it out with pans in it! :D

    • @gertietheduck
      @gertietheduck 2 месяца назад

      @@EveBolt try it out - it's magic! I've got the top 4 full pans in vertically and then two more at the bottom horizontally, and the half pan is in the bottom corner. I like limited palettes and prefer full pans so this is perfect! It's super light too and the seal is good! You could add an earth colour or a Payne's grey in the half pan. You could also just fill it with Hallf pans - it fits 12 horizontally. But I prefer full pans myself

    this was interesting! all the things you showed cost so, so much more - like 10 to 15 times more - and that in euros...on Temo in europe. isn't it funny that you get the best deals from China...in the US of A? i'm laughing now.

    • @EveBolt
      @EveBolt  Месяц назад +1

      I'm in Canada, but yeah! That's odd!! I wonder if it's somehow related to the import fees..? I know Temu makes the best of a loophole in sending out parcels to the US, but I haven't looked into it in details.

      @selmag5819 Месяц назад

      @@EveBolt yeah, prejudices...i see dollars, i think usa. i'm sorry! you must be right, it must have to do with import fees that are added to the products, so that we don't have to pay them, when the parcel arrives.

    Continue purchasing your drawing supplies from your usual small supplier.

    • @EveBolt
      @EveBolt  2 месяца назад +6

      Well, not everyone has access to a small supplier or a local store. And sometimes, the stuff sold there is the same as the stuff on sites like Temu (white label products), but with such a markup in price. So yeah, if you have a favorite small supplier, go to them! :)

    It's a shame that people in first world countries don't want to pay a fair price for somebody else's work. If you pay $0.44 for what looks like a nice sketchbook it means that the person who made it works for free.

    • @donuteh2461
      @donuteh2461 2 месяца назад +24

      Not any different than if you buy the same sketchbook from Amazon for $20 because Amazon is probably paying less than the $0.44 so when we pay $20 for he same one, were paying the huge mark up.

      People in "first world " countries are struggling financially themselves in the current financial climate. It's not that we disregard workers in other countries but we can't afford to support them. The other option is not to buy at all and no buys are becoming increasingly popular. 🤷‍♀️

      Apart from which our countries provide millions of dollars in foreign aid from our taxes. If third world governments don't distribute that to the poorest in their countries that's not something we control.

    • @gingerblue
      @gingerblue 2 месяца назад +4

      amen. We need to put these suppliers out of business- no one is seeing anything from the sales except the business owners and the landfills. Anyone who has access to online (which costs money to get online) can afford to pay a few extra dollars (not twenty or thirty, but one or two) to make sure that the people at the bottom of the line might eventually move up a little in life. If we all purchased a tiny bit more consciously a small shift WOULD happen.

      If you buy the same item from Amazon most of the money will go in to middle merchant or drop shipping person not the person who work in factory anyway. So it's better to invest in brand that treat employee good. And I don't see anything wrong from buying directly from factory like temu.
