  • Join us on one of Oregon's best sunset hikes: The trail to Cape Perpetua Lookout on the central Oregon coast. This three-mile hike on the Saint Perpetua trail passes through beautiful, mossy forest and climbs to a stunning panoramic view. On a clear day, you can watch the sun drop into the ocean.
This is a great winter hiking option on a sunny day; in this video, we're hiking on January 16th. Of course, it's also a great choice for other seasons.
This hike is in the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area in the Siuslaw National Forest. While you are in the area, we recommend exploring the following nearby sites:
Thor's Well, the Spouting Horn, and Heceta Head Lighthouse: • Thor's Well, the Spout...
Cook's Ridge and Gwynn Creek Loop Hike: • Hiking the Enchanted F...
Sea Lion Caves: • Sea Lion Caves - Orego...

Yes! We had intended to be there earlier in the day/we were only there at sunset because we were running late, but it turned out to be a great time of day for this one.

This gave me some hardcore Lord of the Rings vibes - absolutely spectacular! Was it hard getting down after the sunset when it was dark?

Thanks so much! It was a little hard to see on the way down, but we used our phone flashlights!
