I’ll take a guess at 54mins for the 10k and 2hr +/- 5mins for the half. Look forward to the vids.

@@jennyharrison4 Thanks Jennifer, I’d be very happy with 54, as regards the 1/2, I think 1:55 - 2:05 is very optimistic. I’ll focus on enjoying the events and see what happens😊

      As long as you didn’t say over 60 and over 2 3/4 hours I wouldn’t be offended😂

I reckon you'll get a good enough time in London, so long as the heel holds out. Manchester is a different matter, if you decide you're fit enough to go then maybe just soak up the atmosphere and forget about time. At the risk of stating the obvious, neither race is worth making your injury worse, so go easy.

@@clare9695 Thanks Clare, good advice, the thing is that it’s not been too bad the last week or so and fine at last weekend’s Parkrun but it seems to be slightly uncomfortable after the laser treatment. I’ll be icing after London and I will take it easy in Manchester, I feel like I should do it as I had to cancel it last October because I caught COVID🙁

Hi Andy, as previously mentioned scrap the physios and treatment. As you know I spent a fortune I think over 1k years back. I fixed it myself. So time is the healer. You will do London and Manchester and love both. Our mad bodies forget pain. I ran London marathon Injured and still completed it in 4:36 with loads of missed seasons. My slowest marathon. Anyway your body will heal when it's ready. 10k you will get 55 mins experience and crowds and the excitement gets you through races. Manchester hm I'll try and come and watch prediction 2:05. Enjoy them mate ❤

@@alldone1116 Hi Tony, thanks for watching and thanks for your advice and confidence in my ability to get these done😊I’m done with the laser now, I’ll just let it heal itself. It’s 10 months now since it started so last time it took 12 months so let’s hope 2025 is a fresh start🙏You’re right about races and crowd support but no matter what I’ll focus on enjoying the moment😊

It might be cheaper to buy your own laser at this rate 😅 Not that it seems to be working particularly well...

@@markg99 Hi Mark, the thing is, I’ll never know if it helped because I struggled from Nov-Jun without improving🤔It’s cost me about £450 now, no more laser now, it was worth a shot😢

Hi Andy, you'll do well and should run 52 minutes for the Vitality 10K and sub 2 hours for the Manchester Half (I would estimate better time, but as you said it's roughly equal to your weekly mileage). Do you see an opportunity post these 2 races to consider taking 2-4 weeks completely off to let the heel heal? Best wishes for your continued recovery.

@@RunFreeandStrong Hi Reto, thanks for your advice and support as ever, well, for London, 52 would be great but I’ll be happy with sub-55. And Manchester, I very much doubt sub-2, I was hoping for 2:00-2:15 last October but I’d put in some solid training at that point. Regarding rest, I might have to do that, certainly no more laser😊

Appreciate this would not make good content for the channel but you are not allowing the injury chance to heal. Stop running for a couple of months and do lots of leg strengthening exercises and swim 3 times a week to maintain cardìo fitness. You will reap the benefit eventually.

@@edwilson5416 Hi Ed, thanks for watching and appreciate your concern. To aid the healing I’ve also cut back my running volume by 75% since June, just the Parkrun every Saturday and all the other exercise is aquafit, gym, swim or bike. As I said, I have seen a gradual improvement in the heel, especially over the last month but it always seems achy after laser. I’m not sure I could manage without my weekly Parkrun fix and the last few times, no pain during or after the run, the only concern is my lack of running-specific fitness so I do think I’m getting there😊
