I watched Lena Waithe's movie Queen and Slim. This movie was insulting to Black people, and I was angry after the film. The movie portrayed Black people as uneducated, misinformed, and mentally unstable individuals. At the beginning of the film, Slim was pulled over by a racist police officer for a traffic violation. The officer was belligerent with slim, and he searched his car without getting consent from him. Slim neglected to exercise his constitutional rights under the 4th amendment by telling the officer that he would have to get a warrant from a judge. Slim could have shut down the aggressive officer's illegal tactics, but he neglected to do so. Queen exacerbated the incident when she exited the vehicle, which led to the officer being killed by Slim in self-defense.
Also, Queen was shot in the right leg when the officer discharged his weapon when no one was threatening him.
The news media labeled both parties as a cop killer, and they were armed and dangerous when they went on the run. There was corroborating evidence that showed Slim killed the officer in self defense. I did not like Queen's character because of her attitude towards Slim. Queen was an attorney, but she had endured a lot of trials and tribulations in her life.
For example, Queen reconnected with her uncle Bobby who killed her biological mother, and he was sentenced to life in prison. Queen helped her uncle get released from prison after he committed such a heinous crime. I assumed the writer wanted to portray Queen as a mental person with family issues.
After the film, I was infuriated when the Black man contacted the police about the fugitives, and he collected 500.000.00 dollars for their capture. The cops killed Queen and Slim without any apparent justification. I believe Lena Waithe could have shed more of a positive image of Black people, but she decided to conform to Hollywood's racism standard in the movie business. I would've like to see two Africans Americans playing Queen and Slim in the movie.
