The best thing about Ghent is its night view. A mesmerizing experience you will never forget.
Agreed!! It is magical for a night walk!!
I rescheduled my trip to berlin to add ghent to my trip because of your video! Thank you!
Ahh that’s awesome!! Hope you have an amazing trip! :D
Thank you for watching!!
I hope to go to Belgium someday. It’s on my bucket list for sure and it looks like such a beautiful country. I can tell there’s a lot of rich history and unique landscapes especially towards the beginning of this vlog. Of the 3 places you went to in Belgium, which one would you say is your favorite?😃
Hope you make it there soon, it is extremely beautiful and fun to visit!
Of the cities we visited, Ghent was our favorite! It's a bit less crowded/touristic, has a lot of unique points, and the architecture is amazing!
A great video and Gent is stunning and so beautiful, its amazing how you guys managed to visit all of the places in a single day and document them at the same time, this truly reflects your dedication and hard work... As always you both look beautiful together and had a great time watching this video...
Thank you so much!!! It’s really a fantastic city!!
Definitely some planning helps with maximizing your time in a place! I think this video was done over 2-3 days though, we just have a very limited wardrobe so it makes outfit changes unnoticeable! 😂
Love the video, but Alan I'm afraid you were a little bit exaggerating when you said they found 6 million bodies underneath the cathedral haha😅. They actually found 800 complete skeletons and about 5000 kilograms of random loose bones (which is still a lot).
Ahhh our bad! We must’ve read some bad info or misspoke!!! Lol. Thanks for the correction. That’s still pretty dark, but you’re right.. 6 million would’ve been excessive lol.
best video of Ghent ! love the food stops ! Thank You !
Thank you for watching!! So happy you enjoyed it! 😃
As someone who grew up his whole life in this city, I can recognize almost every place you see in this video.
Glad you enjoyed it.
What a cool city to be from!!! We enjoyed it very much!! Thank you!!
You two look especially happy here! I would love to travel here someday! Awesome video!
It was a very relaxing spot! Thank you!
Very nice video, guys! I love Ghent! I remember that bag of fries who eats itself (around 10:19). I was laughing so hard. It's basically cannibalism in the personified world of fries 😅
Thank you!! Oh gosh we loved it too. I can’t believe it’s not a more popular city (but also kinda glad it’s not lol) Hope you’ve been doing well!
And the fries… omg. I’m glad someone else thought that was the creepiest thing in the world. 😂
Totally agree about the golden retrievers haha
They are the best dogs!! :D
Greetings from Ghent! I'm glad you loved the city i grew up in. Happy travels! ♥
Wow!! It must have been amazing to grow up there. Such a great city. Thank you so much for watching and your kind comment!! 😃
Oh yes, definitely! Especially since it's also one of the main student cities in Belgium, so the city feels lively outside of the vacation periods.
For anyone who wants to visit Ghent and likes to party a lot, they should consider visiting Ghent during the second half of July. That's when the "Gentse Feesten" take place. That's where the entire city of Ghent is locked down for traffic, and the whole city turns into a giant open air festival for 10 days and 10 nights straight with stages all around the city. This year's edition got around 1.5 million visitors in those 10 days. Good times! 😇
Holy smokes, the Abbey is incredible! Ok, I'm quickly realizing I'll be saying the same for literally every structure in Ghent! You guys aren't kidding about how much "stuff" is packed into a small area. Really, really awesome. Lol, Alan "lady watching cat videos on her cell!" 😂 Your lunch looked so good - those type of eats are some of our faves, too. And we love that you stopped to admire a random golden. You are definitely our kinda peeps. This was great - Ghent is amazing !
It was such an awesome city!! And the pups are the most important part.. only wish I could’ve gotten a better shot!! Lol
Thanks guys!!!
Nice. Good show. Great to see someone not just showing the same thing that has been done thousands of times.
And that you even correct yourself whenever either of you make a mistake such as calling something a church when it's a castle :)
Thank you very much!! So happy to hear that you enjoyed it and that it wasn't too over done! :)
And oh gosh, we are definitely amateurs and make SO many mistakes while filming! We greatly appreciate your understanding of that! :D
beautifull vlog 😍😍
Thank you!!!
Lovely💖
Thank you so much!!
Y’all always find the best places. We hope you both are holding up well!
Ghent is awesome! This week has been absolutely a shock with a lot going on. But we’re all doing our best to take it one step at a time. Thank you guys 💕
@@IfWeGoTo stay strong friends. We are always in your corner. ❤️
Thank you so much ❤️
Lol loved Alan slowly backing into the woods 🌳. Great vid guys but I must say I’m glad it wasn’t raining when we were in Brugge haha. Hope you are both safe and doing well back in the states. Please take care 🧡🧡🧡
He was trying to recreate that one meme lol.
And definitely… the rain makes it suuuuch a bummer lol.
Thanks guys! 💕 Things are… wild but we’re trucking along. Hoping things look up soon.
@@IfWeGoTo for sure. One day at a time. Hope to see you two soon 🥰🤗
Yeah, Alan backing into the woods was amazing. 😁 So quick and subtle, I was like - “did he just… ?”
You are wrong. Six million bodies is off by about 8,500 times. In the Paris catacombs, there are 6,000,000 skeletons and one can go on a tour, a little macabre but for some it is interesting.
Oh he must have mixed it up, thank you for your correction!
I love Ghent! If you are ever in Europe in “Christmas time” I can recommend to visit the city again. Then it’s even more lovely :)
It is such an amazing city!! I can only imagine how beautiful it must be around Christmas!! 🤩 Does it get a lot of snow too?
@@IfWeGoTo That differs every year. I live in The Netherlands but I think that the weather in both countries is quite the same. With the climate change there is less snow than earlier. And when we get snow it is often in February or March (after the Christmas season).
I loved how there's beer for the students. We should adopt that. Graffiti street 😍
Hahah would’ve been great as a student right!!
The legal drinking age for beer and wines is 16, for strong alcohol it's 18 here in Belgium. Drinking as a student, or even as a teenager is not at all exceptional here. Pair that with no official closing time for bars or clubs, no laws against drinking in public, and result is most young people are quite familiar with having a bit of alcohol by the time they're students at 18 here in Belgium. We are after all the country of beer...
Fun fact, at least in my experience, is that not being able to hold your liquor by the time you're a student, or binge drinking like an idiot is seen as very, very immature here, and something only a dumb teenager would do. And IMHO it's because of this low drinking age.
Watching your video makes me so proud being a “Gentenaar” (born, raised and been living in Ghent for more than 60 years). You made me realise again how beautiful our city really is and how little we notice it. 😀
Thank you for leaving this comment, it's hearing feedback like this that really keeps us going! :D
Ghent is awesome, you are very lucky to be from there!!
blown away🤠
Glad you enjoyed it!! Thank you!!
Ghent is much older than Amsterdam. It was once second biggest town of West-Europe after Paris
Oh thank you for sharing this!
No kidding: I was born and raised in Ghent and you guys just showed me something I’ve never even heard of 😆
Oh really?!! What an awesome spot to be born in!! What was new for you in the video?
@@IfWeGoTo Bar Broei 3:23
@@zvennn That was a cool spot huh!! lol
@@zvennn it’s pretty new, before it was “anti kraak” student homes
i am from ghent i thought it was really nice how he explains what there is to do there is much more to do
There is definitely a lot to do, even more than in this short video!
Thanks for watching!!
I just realise why this city is actually really lovely and beautifull
Where are the cars?
Its carfree!!!
Thats what i’ve always loved in cities. Being beautifull and not worrying about getting tackled by cars.
This is what i like.
Sadly the place where i live in Dordrecht is also a really nice city.
Its the oldest city in Holland but cars are still able to drive and park in the historical old streets.
Btw this is only for permit holders who live in the city itself
Hopefully Dordrecht center will ever get car free
I hope Dodrecht can become car free too! We absolutely love that about many European city centers - cars cause so much stress and pressure that you don't even realize!!
I bought waterproof jacket, shoes, and pants so I can best try to endure the unpredictable rain. I will be there First week of October!!! What did you order for the middle eastern wrap? Falafel or something other? Great content great video!
Ah awesome! I think it will definitely be helpful!!
Hope you have an amazing trip! Happy travels! If you need any tips or anything dont hesitate to reach out! :)
For the wrap I don't quite remember!! A falafel sounds about right though! When it comes to middle easter cuisine we will typically choose either that or lamb!!
@IfWeGoTo thank you soo much! It looked amazing and I've only been through netherlands 🇳🇱 and learned the same about cheap eats! I will base myself in Ghent then over 4 days go to Brugge, Antwerp, and maybe Brussels but may have to save atonium for another trip in April.
Thank you again!
Cheers 🍻
Happy Travels!
Oh the Netherlands is amazing too!! Ghent is a great base for all of those locations. We have not been to the Atonium yet either, but I can say that Brussels is worth the trip even without it!
Anytime! It was a pleasure to connect!
What is the best way to travel around Belgium if you wanted to see multiple cities in a day? For example bruge and Ghent?
Definitely by train!! I think it is only about 20 minutes between the two! 😃
Speculaas . The last part 'laas' is like when you say Utah > the 'tah' part.
Ahhh thank you!! I knew we had to be saying it wrong 😂
Nah, Speculoos (Belgian). Speculaas is simular but different (Dutch)
@@jeroencrabbe that's true, Jeroen Speculoos = Belgium, Speculaas = Netherlands
The name speculoos derives from the Latin word speculum, or mirror, since the cookie is the mirror image of the wooden mold in which it's been made
Hi Brandi and Allan,When will you come to uganda?
Hopefully soon!! 😃 that would be a dream!! We planned on going to that region in Fall 2021 but Covid restrictions made it too hard!
@@IfWeGoTo sure that Covid thing was also something else, the restrictions are not that much now.
Come exprience the beauty of the African Continent,
its beautiful people, gorrilaz and other animals, the mighty queen Elizabeth National park.
I’m glad to hear it is better there now too!! We would love to!! The people, the wildlife, the food!! Everything seems amazing and beautiful. & Seeing wild gorillas is a childhood dream of mine too!
Do you have instagram? I’d like to ask for any tips you have when we make it that way!!
@@IfWeGoTo ooh yeaa i texted you.
What happened to the Brussels video?
It's unavailable?
Brussels is still uploading and being worked on (like the thumbnail, description, and stuff! ) :) we will post it this week!
@@IfWeGoTo I lived there, curious what you are up to... Waffles again? ;)
Haha well it doesn’t have waffles but it does have more Belgian snacks! 😋
Again Eva vibes🙈
Hahaha thank you
Gentse neuzen,a very tasty candy
Definitely 😋
Here's a rule if you're going to north/northwest Europe (Belgium, Netherland, Northern France, UK, Germany, Scandinavia,..): NEVER go outside without a raincoat (except maybe during heatwaves).
This is great advice!!! 😆
Alsof het áltijd regent!? Een regenjas ademt niet... is dus niet altijd fijn 😊
@@manonvorstenbosch3445 met "never go out without ik" bedoel ik ook "neem er een mee voor als het kan regenen". Niet altijd aan ;).
Ghent isnt it just Gent 😁😁😁
I think Ghent is the English way to spell it, and then Gent is the Dutch/French/local way!
@@IfWeGoTo Yes, Gent is the Flemish/Dutch spelling, whilst the French one is Gand 😋
Not being negative but Ghent looks depressing and people look unfriendly compared to the Netherlands. But a nice calm city
Wow, we didn't feel that way at all! Ghent was actually our favorite Belgian city!
We love cities in the Netherlands too though.
Depressing I born
In Gent and that is not a depressing city. Is a city wit a lot of night life and young people. But it can depressing win there is no sun. And belgium people are not like Dutch we are not that open
Hi Doctor : We ready to die
😅
A bit uninformed to be honest...
How could we have done it better for next time?
