I remember seeing this back then, Quartey largely controlling and winning the fight mainly with the jab, and finally throwing the fight away in the later rounds with silly exchanges; him getting hit, and instead of just taking a moment to recover and box, just get into incredibly disadvantageous punch for punch exchanges, when Hoya had quite a bit more left in the tank.. Just for honour or to prove he was the man or something... Really horrible 'plan'...

I believe Ike Quartey got pretty Tired and drained towards the end of the 9th round beginning of the 10th round, Oscar wasn't tired yet. That only continued for the rest of that round and the next 2 after that. That fact led to Oscar De La Hoya ultimately knocking him out for the Win. Great Great fight! 💪 even though the Golden Boy won, Ike is an Excellent fighter 👏🥊
Oscar De La Hoya lost this fight. Ike Quartey was robbed of the decision just like Felix Sturm was in his fight against ODLH. I encourage everyone to turn the sound off and watch this fight without bias. The Las Vegas crowd noise helped Oscar and swayed the judges IMO. Oscar was great in the 12th round and almost closed the show there. However, one round of a fight does not and should not represent the overall scoring. Oscar was on the end of Quartey's jab and right hand, all....night....long....Lionel Richie style. My scorecard, 115 - 112 for Ike Quartey.
