Found your channel bcuz of this video. Subbing cuz of this project, but interested to see what else your channel brings. Keep up the good content.....greetings from Illinois.
Hello! I really appreciate it, thank you! I wont lie, it's been a while since i have had any updates on the wrecker build, but I plan to get to it soon. I'm a small shop and have gotten quite busy so my "side projects" have to be put on hold until the time permits! I do have a few things I will be doing on it shortly. so please keep an eye out! thank you
Nice to see another Canadian playing with the crusties. I have a 411 boom and wheel lift assemblies that are getting custom sub frames. Your vids minus the body were super helpfull. It's always handy to see what the OE has done before I go off reinventing the wheel. Urban developement has come for my shop in Surrey, so it's pack up and GTFO. We should have the new one up and running on the island around October. Once i get settled I'll post up some content you should like. cheers, Stay outa the bite!
Thank you, I try to cover as much as possible because really, there isn't alot of information on them. I look forward to checking out what you have on the go! Thanks again!
@@lowelifemachining2234 I'll try and post up some of the mayhem of the move if time allows. I agree info on these units is super hard to come by. If you could.. post up the measurement from the center of the lower pin of the boom lift ram to the rear axle centerline. All the info just says 60" C/A but that doesnt really help much when you're not using their deck. Any help would be huge. Thanks in advance.
@littleriverrestomod4205 ya, OK I'll see what I can do for you. It may not be right away as I have a few other projects on the go, but I plan to get back at the wrecker as soon as possible. And I will definitely add in those measurements as well.! Thanks!
No you don't see many around any more! I'll be keeping it on there, with a few modifications to make it functional for me. I don't blame you on the ol Holmes. I love the old school gear myself!
Absolutely! hahaha, yes, it's been a while since I've worked on the ol girl. BUT, I'm planning on bringing it back in the shop this fall/winter to start putting it back together. Everything is here for it. Just trying to find the time.
The wheel lift is definitely a Century so I'm going to assume so is the bed/boom but I'm not sure. They did have Century add on wheel lifts like what's on my truck. Its a 85 Chevy C30 with a mechanical Holmes 440 Hi Power boom and Sonic Lo-Side bed but has the Century add on Electric over Hydraulic wheel lift that sadly doesn't work so I plan on removing it and replace anything bad like the lines and having the cylinders rebuilt @@lowelifemachining2234

I love those year gmc dually trucks, strong and short for underground garages
I agree. I think it will look pretty sharp when it's done.

New subscriber here love the show.
Thank you , really appreciate it!
Don't see to many push bumpers anymore! I save them when I can! I started with a Holmes 440 still prefer using it over my newer hydraulic crap

You like the cable ones better? Good to know
Would you think most tow trucks have positraction?

What wrecker make and model. I just got one of these
I believe it's a challenger or a century. Though I haven't found a tag on it. I believe they are all roughly the same dimensions
