  • Here is a review of the Premium Edition Ferdinand kit 6317 from Dragon in 1/35. You may notice I'm a little more critical of Dragon in this one, that's not to say it's not a good value if you can get it for say $35 or so. I just like to point out the differences in mold quality. This tooling is 15 years old, so it does show it's age a bit.

    Nice review! btw at 10:50 those are Panzerfaust. They give them as a bonus.

    Nice review Adam! I have a couple Elefant's in the stash but not a Ferdinand. Congrats on the Rye Field Model thing I missed that yesterday in the Hangout btw. Carlos told me about it last night.

      TacticalJackalope Thanks Andy. Which Elefants do you have?

    i built only the italeri kit like 12 years ago and it was not bad at the time :) elefant and ferdinand tanks are not really down my alley, but i can see why people love them! it is quite mean looking. nice demo of the kit, i was not aware of the fact that dragon made so many of them over the years.

      Hamilkar Barkas I do like the thing, for whatever reason. It's a weird cousin in the Tiger family, so that could be why.

    "Eww" is the world I would use too to describe those PE fenders! I've got the Kursk Ferdie kit and I barely started it because the PE was scary. And if you think that is sparse for Dragon, just wait until you do that T-34! The '41 and '42 turreted T-34s have one step for the whole turret assembly! I think the thing at 10:48 is the barrel cleaning rod.

      @AdamMann3D  9 лет назад +1

      Panzermeister36 I thought the T-34 looked a little simple just from looking in the box. I' haven't done any research on those kits yet but I plan to.

      They are extremely easy I have glue them and I Solder them just depends on my mood how quick I have to build a tank. I understand this is an old video .

    1st REALLY like your site. Just let U know built that kit, PE was awesome. Very easy to work with, fenders, tool box, but U R right about the T box, it was easy, but it's closed, so stash box tools YES. I painted the spider camouflage it was a fun build,

      Adam, lighten up my friend. Ever heard of banter? Your videos are awesome - I’m serious this time. I enjoy them a lot and respect what you do. My interests in the Tiger I have been increasing due to your vids.
      Many thanks

    Just picked up kit 6495 for $45 off of some guy on Facebook with shipping it was 60 think that's a pretty damn reasonable price for a premium kit

    A nice review of one of my favorite vehicles......
    If you wanted better PE fenders, Aber makes the best set or consequently the set from Part is good as well.
    The Aber set is the most accurate as it includes the exhaust nozels too I believe.

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  9 лет назад

      milky55way2012 Thanks. You seem to know a fair share about them. Since I haven't built one yet I don't know as much as I will. I've never bought an after market PE set. Do you find they're really worth the price?

    • @milky55way2012
      @milky55way2012 9 лет назад +1

      That depends on the manufacturer.....just about anything from Aber is good quality, I have some of their older sets and they are very good. I have several from Part (another Polish company) and their sets are really good. Some of their PE is the most accurate like their Nashorn sets.
      I'm not familiar with ET models, Griffon but Voyager models and Lion Roar are good as well. Eduard's older sets are not so good but their newer sets are good from what I see on line.
      Some sets you can view on-line like Aber.net..pl or Part.pl...or just do a google search.

    Great review sir. If someone produced a after market decal set for 6436 then it would save a person a lot of cash. 6436 goes for $150 on Ebay and at that price you could get 6465 with Fruiltracks and some figures.

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  8 лет назад +1

      I completely agree with you. That Cyber Hobby kit with the weird decals is nothing special. And the Elefant with DS is far too expensive since a $40 upgrade is needed for the tracks.

      Maybe a Rye Field Ferdinand sometime soon since the Dragon kit tooling is getting long in the tooth. Keep the reviews coming sir!

    Adam,
    I sent you a few photos of my Stug Life build kit, for some reason I confused you with Evan (panzermeister36) so sorry for that one.....
    I will be starting my kit soon.

    I think (not 100% sure) that all Ferdinands were at Kursk, then all surviving ones were sent back to the factory to be converted (mgs added) to Elephants. So if you are building a Ferdy you are doing a Kursk one. And, I do not think they were used anywhere else earlier than Kursk.

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  9 лет назад

      Martin Collmer That is correct, I think I was just surprised by the different camos. There is a great Russian site I was looking at last night of images of every knocked out Ferdinand at Kursk, and they did have a range of camo.

    The photo etch fenders in this kit are crap. The metal is paper thin and they are just flimsy and not at all detailed enough.
