    • @HunterTracks
      @HunterTracks Год назад +19

      It's a fun theory, but I'm not sure it bears out in lore. The priestess was a human (the only one, in fact; all other humans on the island are build from her genetic mould), and Baobhan Sith definitely isn't.

    • @TheFantasyChronicler

      Another problem with that theory is that the original 6 fairies cursed her with immortality as they tore her apart, so she's still alive. In fact, considering the unique situation of Fairy Britain and the Abyssal Worm, she's probably still alive, in pieces, and falling for eternity.

    So does that mean Tristan became cernunnos as a calamity just like Lancelot and Tristan became Calamitys? That part always confused me since we got Barghast, Albion, and then no Baobahn Sith. Just seems appropriate that She'd come back as A zombie/vampire hybrid with an army of the undead/mors that would hunt down any remaining fairies that didn't get eaten or burned alive. Although I guess having the massive number of curses wash over the land and then the incest void suck them in probably did that already.

    I'd enjoy seeing more of these. And yeah, Sith is a subtle character who gets used and abused by pretty much everyone in her life. Yes, even Morgan. Telling her she has to become a monster to live is harsh. Granted, its the least harsh of all the things we've seen. I felt pity for her as I played through the story. There is good in there. But that world tortured good and stomped it out by and large. It twisted nearly all good folk in there into monsters. And eventually, they truly became monsters of shadow and death. I started hating Beryl and honestly wish Mash had done a shield spin upper to his junk at the end. He was one of the most evil SOBs in that Lostbelt as he knew the difference and he didn't care.

      Granted, for Morgan, she had tried to save Sith every time, but always ended up failing. In the manga, it showed Morgan clearly being a kind and loving mother at first, but Sith just kept on being betrayed and dying, despite how much Morgan tried to protect her. This is what led Morgan to tell her to live a cruel life, since that's the only way she can survive.
      Remember: if it is for Sith's happiness, Morgan would be willing to even give up her dream Britain.

    Very nice Video! I love all of the fairy knights/Tam Lins.
    My theory is that Sith was born from the anger of Cern's priestess.
    In fact, there is a parallel between the human priestess and Baobahn Sith.
    Both succeeded in calling a deity (Cern) into the world to punish the wrongdoing of the fairies. The priestess called him with prayers and Sith became his "divine core".
    At the end of their lives, both the priestess and Baobahn Sith were dismembered by british fairies, but did not die quickly enough to escape the pain. On top of that, Sith wasn't angry at castoria when she first met her and even consider her as a possible friend. I guess she subconsciously recognized castoria's true nature as a "fairy of paradise" (like morgan), who isn't a descend of the original 6 from britain.
    Since sith was most likely born from the remains of the priestess, she has high compatibility to act as the "divine core". In the story it was often mentioned that faes were "disposed of" in the pit, but it was only through Sith's wish and her own sacrifice that Cern's corpse was able to awaken. I don't think all of this implications are an coincident, especially because Nasu love to write nuances like that in his story.

    • @darkstorm2579
      @darkstorm2579 Год назад +4

      Well, considering that Oberon-Vortigern was born out of Britain's own desire to be destroyed, it's possible, but unlikely. Baobhan Sith's true nature is a kind fairy. No matter how many times she was betrayed and killed, she never lashed out at them and forgave them. It was only after Morgan was killed right in front of her that she finally broke.

    SPOILERS:
    I believe that we were meant to fight Sith in her third ascension inside cernunnos's core, since in that form what she went through is much clearer.
    I mean, when it was literally said "There's a sacrifice in his core keeping him going" I was sure of it, especially since usually the final blow is dealt in gameplay and not in cutscene.
    The only issue is that castoria would have had to be there, which was of course not possible considering she turned herself into a pipebomb.
    Still, it's a shame, I wish she got some sort of closure, but no fairy really had that.

    • @darkstorm2579
      @darkstorm2579 Год назад +2

      That is plausible as aside from that, there's not much explanation for why her third ascension is the way it is. Both Barghest and Melusine's are explained in the story as their true natures. Meanwhile Sith's just kinda comes out of nowhere (although I guess it's somewhat explained thanks to the throne room scene).

  • @alexgarrett4673
    @alexgarrett4673 Год назад +2

    I really wish I liked Baobhan Sith but the story just did too good a job of making me hate her in the beginning and tried to make me feel sympathy for her too late. Compared to Barghest and Melusine, where we start to see their redeeming qualities by about halfway through the story and even when they ultimately become threats we have to deal with, I feel sorry for them... Boabhan's backstory reveal comes very late on, and before we even have a chance to entertain the idea of her being redeemable, she immediately suffers a horrible fate (that we play no real part in). Which is doubly a shame, since out of the three Tam Lin she's the one that actually could have had a happy ending if things had gone differently, whereas the other two were doomed by their very nature.
    If the story had teased that a bit more and taken the time to get me invested in who she really was underneath the facade before killing her off, she'd probably be my favourite Tam Lin by a wide margin, instead of my least favourite.
    (Also, the recent Feet/GO tower event hasn't done her any favours in terms of making me like her either...)

    a. She is the only fairy not a jerk enough to show Morgan gratitude
    (She's just built different)
    b. She resurrecting Cernunnos
    (Which she seem to do it by becoming the core of him)
    AlsoI imagine the really weird part of her bio saying that she have riding skill because "she strides across the earth on her own two feet." can be explained by saying that Cernunnos is the earth of fae Britain and thie priestess did ride on his shoulder in the flashback.

    • @HunterTracks

      The riding part is written that way because, in folklore, baobhan sith have deer hooves for feet. She's her own mount, basically.

    Of the three Tam Lins, Baobhan Sith is probably the one I cared the least in Avalon the Fae itself. Not because I don't get her character, but because a lot of her characters feel half-written.
    To start with, he being "Tam Lin Tristan" is just something Morgan slap onto her and her being associated with Tristan are hardly elaborated on unless you really want to go into the whole sadness thing.
    Her backstory before she became Tam Lin Tristan is something that we are merely told about without being shown much of anything about it. We don't see her in the Fragments sections, nor is there a flashback to her time as Grimalkin's servant and the eventual Darlington zombie incident. We don't even get to visit New Darlington proper, so stuff about it is just told to us.
    The biggest thing, however, is Sith's Third Ascension. As of this writing, that Ascension hasn't appeared in anything, nor has it been given any real explanation beyond what you can tell about Sith's true nature in LB6. The fact that it has no dialogue to other Servants or story-locked lines to make it seem better, her Third Ascension is less of "This is what Baobhan Sith really is" and just a grim note to end her existence as a Servant.
    That being said, I cannot say I hate Baobhan Sith as a whole because all of the events after Avalon le Fae have helped her be more fleshed out in a good way. So good for you for recovering.

    I, as a massive fan of Bao, have nothing new to really add that hasn't been said. Although, that being said... I personally would have written things differently if I was given a chance. As much as I love the story, I feel as if parts still deserved some extra rewriting. Unfortunately, some of my problems can really only be fixed if it were a standalone story and not transfixed onto the overarching narrative.
    Something I have been mulling over, and this is a good time to bring it up, is how Bao is treated with the last few chapters of Act 2. Honestly, I would have written her to have lived the end and have to deal witha world Post Morgan, having a character like her experience such a depressing reality, and having her try to find ways to get Morgan back, leading to her trying to harm Castoria and failing because she just couldn't really find a reason to hurt someone if there was no one to please. This could lead to the two of them talking things over, where Castoria even talks about her own life and shows that they aren't all too far off from each other. Castoria giving Bao the chance to do something that she wants to do, which is something she can't say about herself as her destiny is already set.
    Of course, several other moments would have to be rewritten, for example I would honestly have had Cern be held back by the Rhongomyniads at the top as sort of shackles, instead of ready to fire out when he awakens.
    I would also rewrite the entire Lost Will section as I didn't really like the set up to there, plus New Darlington has less shown than told compared to most of the other towns.
    My main reason for saying all this, aside from technical bias, is that Bao does have the least amount of information given and doesn't feel like she had a good enough character arc, especially compared to the other Tam Lins who had much more fleshed out beginnings to endings.
    Also, if she does have a bit of a redemption arc, it would have made it more interesting in my opinion, there is no going back to the old ways... but a good enough medium is all I wanted.
    ...
    Ah well, at least in Chaldea she becomes more like what I would have wanted.

      Personally, I would have loved to see more interactions between her and Morgan. They're supposed to be mother and daughter after all. Maybe even see flashbacks of Morgan raising her. Still don't get why Morgan let Beryl get so close to her daughter. Sure, he helped teach Baobhan ways to be cruel, which is what Morgan wanted, but Beryl did it in a way that made it worse. Not to mention he taught her a type of magic that wears on her soul without even telling her.

      @@darkstorm2579 Frankly, I think there should have been more with Morgan and others.
      Like, I would have loved if there was a flashback to Bao waking up from a nightmare about her past that she doesn't exactly remember, which Morgan then comforts her and sings a lullaby that is the same one that Bao recites in her A3.
      And... honestly, Morgan should have confronted Beryl on how he's been around Bao so much and about the magic he's been teaching her. Which could end with Morgan ordering Barg to go and capture Beryl from New Darlington, which could have been how Chaldea got involved instead of the Lost Will scene.
      I think that Morgan really should have been shown as to ruthless to most fae, and then have Bao be the only one that she even remotely helps. Heck, you don't have to make her crack even a smile while doing it, and plus Morgan was supposed to be somewhat humanized and yet she didn't get scenes where she talks with each Tam Lin individually. Show that she still values each of them, but she still plans to use both Barg and Melu for their Calamity purposes.
      It's... actually kinda sad how much potential is missing from the story, but that's bound to happen with the type of game this is unfortunately. Still doesn't mean it's not impressive.

      @@DayLink Honestly, as a Morgan fan, I like your ideas, especially regarding Baobhan Sith. There should have been more foreshadowing over her past and Morgan actually being a mother to her. Yeah, we're constantly told by other fairies that Morgan lets Sith do whatever she pleases, but until the throne room scene, we never get even a hint as to why Morgan cares about Sith. Now that I think about it, why the heck did Morgan keep Beryl around after Olympus? He pretty much served his purpose by that point so why keep him around?

    • @DayLink
      @DayLink Год назад +2

      @@darkstorm2579 Most likely because Morgan can keep him in line in case he tries to act up, and also for the sake of Bao. Plus he's still the Crypter, and isn't actively harming Britain itself, just the fae and humans that live there. Which Morgan is fine with being culled when needed. So really, if anything he's still useful in little ways that she can still make use of.

      @@DayLink True, though I feel like she would have taken Beryl out if she found out that the magic he taught Sith actually rots her soul, taking advantage of her naivety like the fairies have done countless times. It's kind of like "you reap what you sow" as she basically remains a horrible character with little to no change. I understand her doing what she did but that still does not make it right. And it is not something you could only blame on "fairies are evil" or even the good for nothing bastard Beryl either, Morgan herself had a big hand in this as well: both in raising her like this and letting people like Beryl corrupt her even further. Easily Morgan's biggest failure that led to her own downfall. (I'm also not fooling myself that out of the 400 000 fairies Tristan killed during her carrier as FK, there had to be around innocent fairies and humans casualties as well).

    I have a few questions about LB6 first up Aesec and Morgan, if habetrot was erased from existence when Mash realized who she was, why didn’t Morgan who Mash knew was Aesec? I had a discussion with someone about this and at first we believe that Morgan was being anchored to reality via her contract with Beryl……..except we realized that’s not actually the case. The Morgan we encounter isn’t actually a servant just Aesec having the memories of Ruler Morgan transplanted into her mind , hell the Beryl we encounter is actually not the same Beryl we have encountered throughout the story, just a perfect replica of him, the orginal Beryl was erased from existence when Morgan rewrote the past of LB6 causing the present that the orginal Beryl to be in be erased from existence. The beryl copy even has a bit where he acknowledges that he had essentially died and was brought back a second time. So given all of this, Morgan not actually being Morgan, Beryl not actually being Beryl how the hell did Morgan avoid the universe basically going “WAIT A MINUTE…….YOUR NOT REAL”

    • @tjossai9302
      @tjossai9302 Год назад +4

      Morgan didn't disappear because she, Aesc, was the one to destroy the tree and use its power to make it a lost world. Harbetrot and almost every fairy were supposed to die on that day, but she survived because of Grimr's dust. Basically, the reason is that Habetrot should be dead according to the world's records and Morgan isn't, she never died during the 1 Fae Era.
      As you say, this Morgan is Vivian with the memories of PHH Morgan, she is Vivian, the fae of paradise from that lost belt and PHH servant Morgan performed a rayshift to send the memories back. That is the right morgan with the wrong memories and the world does not correct memories, it only corrects minor time fluctuations. For Beryl and all the fae, Morgan used the magic from the tree to sustain all of them and replicate them perfectly by herself, this was Morgan's genius mind of magic at work and that's why fae have command seals that sap the magic tax from them, she basically recycled the magic slowly into her Rhongomyniad to prepare for whenever Cernunnos and Vortigern awaken. Long and short of it, Morgan was the original, Beryl was a copy constantly sustained by Morgan's spell and Habetrot was the original that was supposed to be dead.

    • @johnmattson8280
      @johnmattson8280 Год назад

      My theory, Fairy history is split into the two eras Pre-Morgan and post. Once Aesec became Morgan, that was the end of Aesec. She cut her thread and wove in Morgan's. Do note that several others from the pre era survived including a certain knight turned blacksmith. Habby however, wanted to help Mash. She wanted a sure fire way to get to the present too. So Aesec set up the loophole to help her time jump to there. But that it would catch up with her eventually. This is why Habbycat has to resist fading away. Why she grows tired after Mash returns. Its saving power to fight against it and avoiding Mash's memories speeding it up. But also, the Black Barrel is poisoning her. One more thing to fight against. So when she returns it, she used all her strength to get it back. To help save Mash and let go of fighting all the things trying to pull her apart.

      Aesc/Morgan (berserker) is real
      Beryl summons servant Morgan (ruler), servant Morgan (ruler) then goes back in time four thousand years ago and told the newly born Aesc/Morgan(berserker) everything that would happen and the knowledge of PHH, after which servant Morgan (ruler) shattered.
      Aesc/Morgan(berserker) then decided to forego her mission as the fairy of paradise and instead tried to become a savior, met Mash and then became High Queen Morgan after the great calamity. That's the reason Beryl is Morgan's master but Morgan is not Beryl's servant
      Habetrot, for all those years, purposefully did not meet Aesc/Morgan(berserker) and came up with an excuse when we were granted an audience
      hope this helps

      Morgan didn’t retain any memories of Mash, while Habetrot did.
      In the Fae era, Britain was a Lostbelt, its “not reality” so events had leeway to be altered, thus Mash could be sent there. On the other hand, since the High Queen era was a Lostworld and thus subject to logic and reality, the history could not be altered. Therefore Mash, who did not exist in the history of the Era of the High Queen at Year 1, would disappear at the turn of the eras.
      This is circumvented by giving Mash a different name, Galahad, and making her the “First Tam Lin” who dies in the Fae Era. This helps Mash become congruent to the history of the High Queen Era, allowing her to survive until the present. Possibly due to the necessity of there only being 1 “First Tam Lin”, everyone must forget Mash, even Morgan. Totorot on the other hand, insisted she wanted to remember Mash, thus the converse had to be true, Mash had to forget Totorot. When Mash remembered her, Totorot had to disappear to resolve the paradox.
