The FEDS has been warning people for some time now that Scams are growing hugely every year .... so since con men and women tend to be pretty smart at recognizing marks ...this tells you the huge yearly increase in scams means the public must be getting dumber and less capable at recognizing a scam .... and Science proves that point quite nicely by showing the Flynn Effect has stopped and IQ's are dropping not just in America the same is happening in Europe .... IE It's NO Surprise that Elon and the rest of these con men can fool such a large number of people when they become dumber every year .

We have a completely fucked system where those who have the tools and resources to hold this shitbag accountable might not even hear wind of failures until someone steps in to shine a light they can clearly see within those metrics, and those metrics can be pushed further down if - let's say for a minor example - the owner had control of a media company that gained renown for being a hot-spot of news from around the world.

Been saying this for years now: Tesla has no secret sauce. The big automakers would take longer to start offering EVs, but once they did Tesla would become just another automaker. Tesla had a window where they could refine their design, manufacturing, and support processes to survive as a small upscale automaker. Instead they wasted that window chasing self-driving, Tesla Semi, Cybertruck, Solar Roof, etc., etc. The window closed on May 26, 2022 when Ford delivered the first F-150 Lightning.

I do own a Tesla 3 with full self drive and all of that. It does work (to a point) with constant minding and hand holding (literally). I did have high hopes and trust in a lot of what Musk would say and I do love SpaceX. I realized a few years ago however that his enterprises are loaded with talent but he is not the wonderboy he seemed to be 6 or 7 years ago. I know some high placed people at SpaceX who have told me just how bad he really is which was shocking. I do like our Tesla 3 very much so we don't feel burned by our purchase of it though things like the summons feature is only used to back the car out of our somewhat tight garage. I have tested using it in an empty parking lot to "come to me" and it is so painful to watch it slowly back out, to think and creep back....to stop....and even in an empty parking lot (of course) someone came driving along and suddenly I had a car 200 feet away from me that eventually started down the row towards me. I would NEVER want to use that in a crowded supermarket parking lot. We always imagined how great it would be, if it was raining that we could summon the car to the front of a restaurant or supermarket so we can get in and stay dry. This just will never happen it seems. I think Musk is a PT Barnum mixed with a bit of Thomas Edison who has wild ideas and a great staff that tries to deliver on his promises. The PT Barnum factor is winning however, the fake claims, exaggerations, boasts, and misleading statements will pull him down. Finally, his embrace of the ultra right is amazing to me, embracing those who don't want to "save the world" and to stop fossil fuel, those pickup trucks that intentionally block Tesla charging spaces don't come from the liberals and progressives....

Just to let you all know (in case you haven't heard), Tesla was required by China's Government to recall 1.1 million cars! I believe its pretty much all the cars sold since 2019 to 2023 (Please correct me if I am wrong in this)!
The reason for this is how Tesla enforces regenerative braking system to be always on while other EV manufactures in China allows this to be turned off. While some people might argue that having regenerative braking is good, but China's government have discovered that people have developed a habit of "just releasing the gas pedal to break". Hence when emergency situation occurs, drivers will unconsciously just release the gas to break and by the time they realize they need to actually step on the breaks, they already missed the opportunity to do so causing catastrophe. This is just one example, there are other reasons which you can all read if you do a simple google search.

I see Elizabeth Holmes is still listed as a Horatio Alger Awardee. Sam Bankman-Fried, founder of FTX, should have gotten the award.

I was always dubious of his claims. Technology and s a slow and steady crawl, even AI has several hard present real limitations that will eventually be overcome, and it’s a real science

Also all this "Elon is Ironman" when there's a guy on RUclips that was working on actually making a real Ironman Suite.

'Self-driving' was a deceptive marketing misnomer that ignored the history of the term 'autopilot.'
Airline pilots right from the beginning were trained to work _with_ a partially automated system but were _never_ told they didn't have to touch the controls at any time nor that they can freely take their eyes off of controls or view. Autopilot always meant only a reduction in workload for pilots but never a replacement. Automated systems now mean that commercial airliners are able to fly with a cockpit crew of only two instead of three to five. (depending on the type of aircraft there used to also be a separate flight engineer, a navigator and/or a radio operator as well)
To tell drivers that a 'self-driving' vehicle will allow them to take their eyes of the road because the car's AI will be safer than conscious human driving was deceptive and irresponsible.
Considering the immense outrage at aircraft manufacturers each time the autopilot system fails (even as with those accidents commercial flying has far lower accident rates than road vehicles) I think it is fair to hold 'self-driving' technology to the same standard.
Yes a lot of the reason for airline safety is the fact there are far lower number of airplanes to begin with and they are spaced farther apart. However that should give you even _more_ reason to scrutinize road vehicle 'self-driving' considering the crowding of said vehicles on that road.

I was mostly indifferent to Elmo's antics up until I actually listened to a few of his rambling talks and thinking "Wow, it really sounds like this guy is just gurgling forth corporate word salad.". Then he got so assmad at a Thai rescue worker for basically saying "Thanks but your shiny toy won't help here." that he immediately went full 4chan-drone and called the guy a pedophile.
    He's literally a humanoid deep-fake.

I love how Elon was saying "We know exactly what to do and we'll be there in a few years" regarding full self driving. It really shows that he either has no idea about programming, or that he will tell obvious lies expecting not to get caught. If it will take a few years, it's literally impossible that you know exactly how to do something. No matter how good you are, there WILL be something you hadn't thought of that makes it harder. It's like if someone claimed they knew exactly what they will be doing for the following year, minute by minute. You might have an idea, but there will be things you hadn't planned.
Even more, if you knew exactly what to do, you could probably get it done in a week, tops. Even complicated codes are relatively short, typing them out doesn't take that long. What takes a long time is figuring out WHAT you need to type, and how to solve the problems you have. Unless he meant we know "exactly what to do" as in "the car needs to not crash and drive you to your destination", which, I mean, duh, but it's not something you can tell the program as easy as that.

It isn't just him, the whole industry thought they could have this self-driving thing licked by now. But 100s of billions of dollars later, things have been a disappointment to say the least. Very disappointing for me also, to be honest, I had high hopes for the tech, but it looks like it's way harder than anyone thought.
Difference is tho, while all the other players in the industry have majorly walked back their optimistic claims, Musk continues to double down. Probably because he still has the nerve to charge $15,000 for a feature that is called "Full Self Driving" that still is just fancy cruise control _at best_ .
