    Yeah, except the tactical camera in DAI is nothing like Origins. It's not easy to use on PC because of the controls (no edge scrolling!). Not to mention that it bumps into every rock, tree, building, etc. which makes it super hard to use.

    For two months, pc players had to cope with a tactical view that always jumps back to characters on selection, although this bug has not been in the pre-release version. And still after five patches the camera is hindered by at least three problems:
    The inability to zoom out further. In many situations it is impossible to get an overview, especially since the funky new engine is unable to fade out things that block your vision, like vegetation.
    The annoyance that orders you give in tactical view are often not carried over to the normal view. I noticed that it works better when you stick to tactical view and play the battle in tac cam, but then your idea of mixing the two mods, as advertised in this very video, is not working and this is something you probably know.
    Last but not least the stupidity of camera cursor movement being tied to traversable terrain. Normally, a flying cam should easily go over obstacles, but it simply can't in DAI. So this is actually not tactical camera at all, it's more like an invisible fifth NPC that gives you a bit more insight into a battle. Vastly inferior to DAO and possibly even DA2.
    I'm willing to give you that: Yes, the camera provides additional information and I'd rather have it than not. But making a video about how grande it is feels like mockery to everyone who already knows the game.
    I guess that's the important point here: The videos are aimed at new customers, those who have not yet decided whether to buy this game or not. You better hope they wont take a closer look at the comments. ;-)

      +GODzilla GSPB See, and I WANT that ability to jump to the character on selection. In the midst of battle, I want to know where each character is, not have to pan around to find them to issue movement or attack orders. Great game, tho.

      +Bud Foltyn One click - select. Double-click - jump to character. Could've been so easy if game creators would take a look at and acknowledge decades of mouse development. -.-

    Never really used it. Play on nightmare. Early levels are hard, I'll grant you that. But after just a few hours of playing it starts to become really easy. You can still die on high levels, but they are rare and always down to mega burst from adds or failing some mechanic.
    That said though, I could still solo the max level dragons. That just should not be allowed on nightmare.

    • @BradTheAmerican
      @BradTheAmerican 9 лет назад

      I'm 40 hours into my Nightmare run, and other than the very beginning of the game like you said, the only other "hard" parts in my experience are dealing with the knockdown spamming Terror demons at fade rifts. However, it's really easy to deal with if you spam barriers back-to-back.

    • @Supadrumma441
      @Supadrumma441 9 лет назад

      BradTheAmerican Yeah the knockdown spam in DAI is just like the stun spam in DAO, its fucking annoying. I get tired of those shielded dudes that just spam knockdown non stop on your tank, got its annoying.

      ***** I actually disliked that companions stuck with their own armor. It took away a part of customization. Same with everyone being stuck with specific weapons. Since Fenris could only use two-handed weapons and I could never actually give him adequate tanking armor, I was less inclined to even use him unless I also used a healer with a mix of other defense magic. I prefer Merrill over Anders because Anders became a whiny emo or something. However, I hate Fenris, so I usually don't bother with him anyway unless I'm trying to mix things up.

    I don't know if they fixed it or not, but last time I used tactical view, it was very bad and annoying. The camera angle is hard to tilt and move and it always stuck, the view radius become very small when it stuck so I have to move my characters a bit in real time...at the end I rather play the game in real time.

  • @michiko7409
    @michiko7409 9 лет назад

    I found the very limited camera angles/range of the tactical cam on the PC quite frustrating and most of the time I would just switch characters to issue commands. I would rather have kept the combat/movement mechanics of DA2, especially the tactics that could be set up for each character. These made you feel like your team was working together when you didn't want to micromanage, and not just using their skills/targeting randomly or positioning themselves in annoying ways. While skills like Fade Step, Hidden Step and Mind Blast are great for your controlled character, it seems a step backwards to not be able to tell archers/mages to automatically run from melee attacks or use a skill to disable a close range enemy. I also found that it meant characters would use skills such as spell purging abilities when their were no enemy mages, and would have loved to be able to tell characters with certain skills to focus on certain enemies.
    All that being said, the additional information about enemies makes popping into tactical view very helpful every now and again, but it is overall not a mechanic that I feel helped me in combat.

      iGyman Eh... I actually enjoyed DA2, then again, people will point at my avatar and mock me for sticking up for underdogs. I'm just not difficult with my games. I like all the games from the Dragon Age franchise, but DA2 really had one of the best cast... (my opinion, strictly) it's just too bad they rushed the game and recycled so many dungeons. It mights not be the best BioWare game out there, but I loved it for different reasons. DA2 helped me cope through my father's death so at least there's that.

    • @Peter016852
      @Peter016852 9 лет назад

      SuperArppis because you stay in hinterlands for too long, it has some encounter that is for lvl 8-12, and you ain't able to level to 12 directly from hinterlands. that is why you find it difficult when you find like lvl 10 encounter there when you only have lvl 9 or 10. However, if you go out to other places, like fellow mire or storm coast, there are encounter start from 8-10 or 7-11 too, which you will find particularly if you are already lvl 10.

    • @savigy1301
      @savigy1301 9 лет назад +5

    I'm not a huge fan of tactical cam. It certainly does help in some battles but I just want to play the game without having to frequently pause and tell my party what to do. It's a lot harder to play the advanced difficulties without it though, which bothers me.
    P.S. Can you please do something about the text sizes? I have a decently big TV that's not even 10 feet away from me and 20/20 vision yet it's still a pain to read codex entries and such. Even the captions are tiny!

  • @serock3

    Tactical camera was the biggest failure in DA:I, i never fought without it in Origins but now it's just complete trash. Tactical camera used to be an awesome PC exclusive feature (the exclusiveness isn't what made it good) that all PC Origins players wanted back. Instead of giving it back to us the optimized it for consoles and now it's barely usable on PC, not even console players fucking us it!
    The point of the tactical camera was that it allowed us to play the game as an RTS but with the ability to pause, RTS is a genre that has never been doable on consoles because of their lack of control.
    The least they could do would be to give PC players our own version of tactical camera that works like it did in Origins, we're the people who wanted it in the first place!
