When Vietnam first gained independence, it was the red flag with a star in the middle (which was a communist country). The one with yellow flag and three red stripes (VNCH or South Vietnam) which was capitalism came after. Also the flag with half red half blue (which you call Viet Cong) is NOT the country, it is an organization made to fight against South Vietnam goverment

Actually, there are two temporary gorverment in vietnam but not country. In the north, they have flag look like vietnam flag today and in the south with 3 stripes. My english is kinda bad, sorry if it hard to understand
