This is the only Fantastic Four I read, thought it was accessible. Although I did watch the cartoons from the 90s, so had a understanding of the characters.
I’m really looking forward to more of these videos, I enjoy your reviews and scans of the artwork. I actually really like most everything I’ve read by Hickman so far. I would say either Byrne’s FF or this Hickman run is probably my favorite FF run. I can’t really get into the Lee/Kirby run, it just feels dated, particularly Sue. I appreciate Kirby’s art but Lee’s writing is just not my style.
Never read the Hickman run on FF, but have heard from numerous people that it was really good. I wouldn't mind reading this. By the way, slight tangent, but love your T-shirt! I actually have that issue of "Iron Man #174" and bought it fresh off the rack back in the day. Ahh... the memories. And man, I really agree with your point about cover art not matching interior art. That has always really annoyed me too. Feels like a bait and switch.
Thanks for watching and commenting! The Hickman FF stuff IS good...I think sometimes I just get a tiny bit annoyed when it's heralded as the BEST FF run ever. THAT I think is pretty far off!
Those are just typical neck muscles one develops from looking at a microscope, of course! Hickman does love to make team books BIG and expand the cast but I think he managed to sneak in great family moments that just don’t stick out based on the stakes, mainly revolving Johnny, Franklin and Val plus those adoptions of Bentley 23 and the moloid kids hit deep.
@@LarrysLibrary And a great review by Larry's Library! Wondering if you had any issues with art bleeding on the scans? The worst one I saw and took a picture of was Spidey swinging with Franklin that has Uncle Ben in the clouds and most of the other side of the page comes through ruining the emotional moment.
Curious is the reprint from the Imak printer based in Turkey? I am not satisfied with their recent omnibus printings. No idea why thin paper was used as well. Great review as usual, I shall add this to my reading list when I clear my backlog.
@@LarrysLibrary Hickman is a very popular writer but I have always found his work a little lacking in heart. As you stated, he is great at plotting big events and some of his stories have been incredibly epic and well thought-out, but personally he isn’t really for me and I prefer other writers, but I can see why he is so popular with a lot of comic readers.
Great stuff! I just read both Hickman omnibuses for the first time easily my favorite modern Fantastic Four run by far 👏👏👏
Thanks for watching

That's awesome. There are a LOT of great FF runs. Are you gonna try some more?
Larry I love your channel, I just really enjoy your videos.

Thanks for watching and commentating! I'm glad you like my stuff. The Waid run is also very good and I rather liked Mark Millar's FF too.

Check out East of West by Hickman and Dragota. Hickman has a thing for the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
I've heard good stuff about that one

That's true. There are some great moments like that

Actually, the Council Of KANGs came first! It was AVENGERS #267 (May 1986), sir … 😀
Should have thought about that. I read that issue years ago. Thanks!
@@LarrysLibrary of course, Mr. @LarrysLibrary 😊
Big LL !
Lemme make some tea real quick
And scones?
@@LarrysLibrary indeed 😄
Your views on Hickman’s writing are exactly the same as mine
Interesting. I was actually a tiny bit apprehensive to give this one less than 10/10 with his following. But I have to be honest or what's the point?
