I'd more impressed with the mechanics of the robot than the AI driving it. All the fluid movement, all the minor twitches, and the perfect body language. All of those require gears, actuators, joints, etc. all on microscopic scales akin to an actual human's muscular skeletal system. That kind of tech is just as advanced as having a true AI piloting it lol
I disagree. True Artificial Intelligence is more impressive because of the grand scale that is required for it's creation, I mean we aren't even able to fully understand the human mind nevertheless how humans are even capable of qualia. I could see humanity being able to create a perfect copy of a human body, but to create intelligent life is just far beyond our grasps.

3 Laws are impossible to enact due to being inherently self contradictory. The most prolematic being; Cannot by action or omission of action harm or allow to be harmed, a human being. The first step was the little device Kirito created for Yuuki to use in order to attend their school. As for the type of AI Yui is, Yui transcended her original programming the moment she left SAO. I believe Yui is somewhere in the middle between a top down AI and a bottom up AI.
I agree that these AI's were born as infants and being raised normally in the underworld, but in Alice's case it was different - her memory was erased and everything she experienced began when she was synthesized. Her basic personality was developed on top of "little" Alice, but without her true memories she's a completely different person retaining only her skills and latent potential.
During sometime after Kirito defeated the Administrator and got into coma after his Fluclight got fried, I think Alice started to remember her past memories... She even gone back to her village with Kirito to try living normally.

The thing with this one is they jumped from „normal“ general AI driven utility Robot (that would do industrial and other rudimentary works) right into the singularity of consciousness 😬. People would freak out, or simply don’t believe and if you’d somehow convince someone the probability of it turning into a classic witch-hunt wouldn’t be as far fetched as you might expect from modern people… You can’t just jump from horse to Tesla, people would think you’re a liar or alien…
the difference between Alice and Yui isn't really that staggering. The only glaring dissimilarity is Yui being more data oriented despite markedly having a visible amount of sentience. although she doesn't have a fluctlight herself, I'm sure she's not that far from it

Ok let's take this issue to a real conversation. Considering the fact that human are getting more success on making self conscious AI, how would we treat them in the future? Honestly I just can't treat them the same way I treat human, I'm not even sure how much of moral or respect should I have when interacting with them because their creation alone are just wrong in natural order. But I also believe that I can't hate them since we are the one who create them and put them into this world, but I will also won't forgive those who create them.
I can acknowledge that a machine will possess intelligence that surpasses the human brain. However to call a machine human is a category that can never be achieved strictly because we are fundamentally different from a machine. Strictly speaking what makes a human are three components: DNA, memories and behaviour. If you take away any of the three you cease to exist. The loss of memories and behaviour means that "the character you have formed dies." The loss of DNA (aka your physical body) means that "you cease to exist physically aka death" Alice will be more intelligent than humans that is unquestioned. Alice being a human is impossible because she does not possess DNA which is a unique factor that only humans possess. Even worse for Alice is that from the start she was built with "Virtual Reality DNA" I guess I will have to call it "VR DNA." There is no replacement for blood because it is a unique genetic coding that is built from the ground up. I suppose if we play with the thought experiment if you have the exact VR DNA coding and are able to make real blood following that exact VR DNA then perhaps you can make a physical Alice from the ground up existing in the real world being conceived in the natural way. The problem with this idea is that you are simply making a pseudo version of surrogate mothers and that baby would be a completely different being from Alice. I can list more problems but what I have mentioned already satisfies the hypothetical. If you are interested in a quality movie that tackles this subject watch Robin Williams "Bicentennial man." That movie truly is a master piece that was way ahead of its time.

Probably the main gripe for me is that military for some retarded reason needed a bottom-up AI (reminder that the main goal of Project Alicization was an AI capable of piloting UCAVs) that literally mimics human thinking patterns with all ensuing imperfections like indecisiveness, doubt and counterproductive thinking. Somewhat pointless because a human pilot behaves the same. Top-down on the other hand would execute order to the word, while keeping a degree of independence, as even top-down AI can be quite advanced, shown by Yui. Though it wouldn't question the action per se (what is the point of fighting/is the enemy an enemy for ME/am I sure I fight for the right side) it can question the necessity or cost/value of action. But those questions are on the simplier side that can be answered with Yes or No, and military likes it dumbfuck simple.
I also always wonder about what if there are living being outside our universe like god and they also created us humans just like how faluctlights are created in sword art online,

I don't mind the AI having a human-like thoughts but... I mind the fact that she moves and every little parts of her body would've been an historical engineering feat. Just imagine the technology to recreate something of life that moves ever similar of it.
We're already pretty good at building realistic robots. They may not be as capable as Alice's body, but we're close enough that in a few decades you'll see something similar (for example, robot animals, because there would be ethical problems with human-like robots, I think).
I'm still kinda confused by what was the point of creating Alice tho. Like, I think we can all understand the point of just generally creating AGI that will grow bigger and smarter. It wil be able to do a lot humans could never do for one. But if you make AI that recreates a human, as impressive as that is, what use will that have? How will it benefit humanity? These are basically just... more humans. You can't even make more for any certain goal, cause that'd be extremely unethical. It'd be like breeding humans in large numbers.

The ultimate is a little more contreversial. According to the original novel, it was created out because the guy was not happy with Japan's reliance on the US military imports (like you get choke points when the goverment wants to lower your defense power). So, he wanted to create something like this as a robot army as their own military product (planned originally). But later, he changed his mind that, showing off this may be enough. He don't want more chaos to come after the A.L.I.C.E. project was attacked and unveiled to the public. So that's why they make that setting.
here is the big issue with a robot like this. i know it took a whole lot of work for them to mature her. and teach her like anyone would teach their child. but also remember, she's still a program. due to potential memory corruption, or logic failure. or even sensory overload. she could potentially snap and go insane..... like say if she finds out the guy she loves cheats on her. not saying she can't learn and mentally grow like most people do, to be able to not break mentally from such stresses.... but from this show's logic, she was pretty much matured in a virtual world where the edge of a blade, and the strength of your sword arm rules to a god tier degree..... now throw her into a world like ours straight from there with a handbook of do's and don'ts about this world, and expect her not to commit a few homicides before getting it right..... you'll find she's deemed a hazard to the world at large and destroyed. it'd be a few broken eggs before they get a robot chicken out of this project

I believe Yui is somewhere in the middle between a top down AI and a bottom up AI.

I agree that these AI's were born as infants and being raised normally in the underworld, but in Alice's case it was different - her memory was erased and everything she experienced began when she was synthesized. Her basic personality was developed on top of "little" Alice, but without her true memories she's a completely different person retaining only her skills and latent potential.

I mean how they created AI in that show was crazy... they they scanned a person's consciousness into a game figured out how to copy the data.... then scanned and copied infants consciousness's into the game and got real people to play it by raising the kids I to adults and then those kids raised further generations... its nuts... but the whole thing about AI is that current developers of it are going at it in 2 ways... one is to figure out how our own consciousness works and copy it I to a machine.
The other is to program a learning machine to rise to consciousness... in both the tech to really VR dive would be critical to success. Which is why I think AI ppl are keeping an eye on that technology as well.

Ok let's take this issue to a real conversation.
Considering the fact that human are getting more success on making self conscious AI, how would we treat them in the future? Honestly I just can't treat them the same way I treat human, I'm not even sure how much of moral or respect should I have when interacting with them because their creation alone are just wrong in natural order. But I also believe that I can't hate them since we are the one who create them and put them into this world, but I will also won't forgive those who create them.

I can acknowledge that a machine will possess intelligence that surpasses the human brain. However to call a machine human is a category that can never be achieved strictly because we are fundamentally different from a machine. Strictly speaking what makes a human are three components: DNA, memories and behaviour. If you take away any of the three you cease to exist. The loss of memories and behaviour means that "the character you have formed dies." The loss of DNA (aka your physical body) means that "you cease to exist physically aka death"
Alice will be more intelligent than humans that is unquestioned. Alice being a human is impossible because she does not possess DNA which is a unique factor that only humans possess. Even worse for Alice is that from the start she was built with "Virtual Reality DNA" I guess I will have to call it "VR DNA." There is no replacement for blood because it is a unique genetic coding that is built from the ground up.
I suppose if we play with the thought experiment if you have the exact VR DNA coding and are able to make real blood following that exact VR DNA then perhaps you can make a physical Alice from the ground up existing in the real world being conceived in the natural way. The problem with this idea is that you are simply making a pseudo version of surrogate mothers and that baby would be a completely different being from Alice. I can list more problems but what I have mentioned already satisfies the hypothetical.
If you are interested in a quality movie that tackles this subject watch Robin Williams "Bicentennial man." That movie truly is a master piece that was way ahead of its time.

The ultimate is a little more contreversial. According to the original novel, it was created out because the guy was not happy with Japan's reliance on the US military imports (like you get choke points when the goverment wants to lower your defense power). So, he wanted to create something like this as a robot army as their own military product (planned originally). But later, he changed his mind that, showing off this may be enough. He don't want more chaos to come after the A.L.I.C.E. project was attacked and unveiled to the public. So that's why they make that setting.
